I had an old range hood that needed to be replaced with a new range hood that I purchased to be installed. Paul and his team are extremely accommodating but best of all, they are very reasonable. When we discussed the original quote over Yelp messaging, they had quoted a price that was a bit out of my budget. We ended up finding a middle ground that worked for both parties. During the tear down process of the old unit, Viktor, the technician, realized that there were additional parts that were needed to install the unit. In addition to that, he would need a second technician because the new unit is too heavy to hold while installing so he would have to return another day to finish the installation. That wasn't a problem as I know there are issues that come up during the installation process all the time. The day before they were to return to finish the installation, I received a call from their colleague to confirm the appointment time but the thing that caught me off guard was her informing me that the install would now me 2x the original agreed amount because there would be a second technician needed to finish the job. I was confused and angry at the same time because I would have never agreed to the cost of installation if I knew it would be this amount. I expressed my frustration respectfully in a Yelp message that I was willing to pay a little more than our previously agreed amount and Paul, the owner stepped in to save the day. He acknowledged that there was a bit of miscommunication with their colleague's original quote and a 2 person job would normally cost that amount. However, he was willing to finish the job for my proposed cost. Paul and Viktor came in today to finish the installation and got in and out within the hour. There were some issues that came up during the install with the unit specs not being fit for the cabinet that it had to attach to, but they provided a solution that required extra work that would normally mean added cost but they just did it for me without charging me anything more. They are great at what they do and I appreciate their willingness to go the extra mile to make sure their clients are happy. There's a reason why they have 5 stars on Yelp! Will definitely be back when I'm in need of their services. read more

The technician arrived and provided a quote of $530 for repairing the machine without initially explaining the specific issue. When asked, he stated that a new tube bearing kit was required. After verifying that the kit cost between $40 and $100 and learning that the installation was estimated to take about one hour, I inquired about the high overall charge. He explained that customers could either order the parts themselves online or have the company supply the parts for a same-day repair, with the latter option incurring the quoted price. He indicated that he would return at 1pm; however, when he arrived, he did not have the necessary tool and left the machine disassembled. Approximately two hours later, he returned and mentioned that he still lacked the appropriate tool and needed to order one online. He then scheduled another visit for the following day at 3pm. I informed him that the repair was required by the next day because I had arranged for same-day service and was scheduled to travel overseas in two days. On the next day at 3pm, upon inquiring about his arrival, he stated that he would now arrive at 6pm, which disrupted my planned schedule. He explained that a scheduling issue from the head office was the reason for the delay and promised a callback; however, when he did not return my calls, I contacted the head office and received a different account of the situation. When he eventually arrived, after approximately 15 minutes, he informed me that he could not repair the machine and departed without completing the work. The technician came out quickly..but the problem was he took our check for parts and never updated us for 5 day...s as the washer is actively leaking! Oct 28 Update: A note to other business owners: it doesn't take much to turn a poor customer experience into a positive one. Paul, the owner of Second Life should run a class on this to every other business. After reading my review, Paul went out of his way to contact me. I was out of town and unable to connect and he still followed up when I returned. Upon connecting, he thanked me for my review, acknowledged the situation, confirmed that the sequence of events between myself and the technician was unacceptable and apologized. It's not often a business owner can understand and empathize with why a client is upset, but Paul did not hesitate to be fully honest about where this experience fell short. Before I could even say anything, he offered a refund. I so appreciated this as the money I spent on the gasket and maintenance were completely useless as I had to replace the entire washer as the door was not "misaligned" as the tech first informed me, but completely broken. While my experience with the repair was poor, I applaud Paul for his upstanding ethics and professionalism in correcting a mistake. While I don't wish any future problems with my appliances, I do look forward to giving Second Life a second chance in the future. read more

I bought a dryer off of Facebook marketplace and it was functioning fine until a few days later it wouldn't heat up. So the drying cycles would be cold. Paul came almost the next day for a free diagnostic which is awesome and low pressure as some of these other companies will try and charge you for a diagnostic. And then he fixed the issue on the same day. Showed me how gross the dryer was filled with lint and dust. And replaced sensors same day and within 2 hours it is working good as new.
