Be aware this location does not serve coffee in glass cups if you are eating in. For me, drinking from a glass cup is why I would eat in.

My husband and I were in the Antares Industrial Park picking up a replacement part for our…read morerefrigerator and wanted to grab some lunch nearby. Most places around were not open on Saturdays, but Via Slack Coffee was, so that's where we went. Overall, it was very good. We both got the Sandwich Trio ($8.84 each, so with tax $10 even). The trio came with a sandwich, soup or bag of chips, and a can of pop. I got the roast beef sandwich, soup of the day, which was cream of broccoli, and a can of iced tea. My husband got the turkey sandwich, same soup and same drink. The default toppings on the sandwiches are honey mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, green olives, pickles, hot banana peppers and jalapenos. My husband got the default, but I asked for no mayo, no banana peppers and no jalapenos. Somehow I ended up not getting pickles either, but that's not a big deal. I'm glad I didn't get the stuff that I didn't want. My roast beef looked and tasted exactly like pastrami, but oddly enough, pastrami is not on their menu as a meat option. So I'm not sure if that's what they call roast beef or if the person making my sandwich made a mistake. I was starving and I'm not opposed to pastrami, so I ate it, but I was expecting roast beef. The sandwich itself was very good. I loved the variety of toppings. Everything tasted fresh and I felt it was excellent value for money. The soup could have been hotter in my opinion. It was just lukewarm. I'm not the biggest creamy soup fan, but it was their only soup available (understandable, because it was Saturday and I think most of their business is on weekdays. We were the only customers the entire time we were there). However, it had lots of chunks of broccoli and wasn't too salty. I'm happy that it came in a real bowl since we were eating in and not in a takeout container, but oddly enough we were given disposable spoons. I would have preferred a metal spoon, but it's not really a big deal, just something I noticed. They also currently have a Yelp check-in deal where you get a free Americano when you check in on the Yelp App. Both hubby and I checked in and we each got a free coffee (regularly $3.25). They were super strong and very good. They serve Happy Goat coffee. We sat down and waited for our food, but I did get up to get some water from the water dispenser and I glanced over and noticed that the server was wearing gloves to make our sandwiches. Extra points for this! Y'all know how much I like good hygienic practices! :) Service was polite and friendly. The place is relatively new and looks clean and neat. Lots of free parking in the parking lot out front. It's in a strip mall. Via Slack Coffee is a very good lunch option for people working in the industrial park. Most food places in industrial parks are takeout only with limited seating, so it's also nice that there is a lot of seating, mostly regular chairs, but also a few comfy couch-like chairs.

In the meantime she gave me my cuppa coffee and I said down. It was warm and I went over and told her that it was lukewarm. She said it was fresh but she would give me an Americano instead. I've never tasted anything so vile in my life as that Americano! When I got the words of school and there was a disgusting smell coming from it almost the smell of vomit. I thought it might've been the people around me. I took a bite of it and I wanted to throw up.The manager looked at me and came over and said is everything OK. I said have you tasted this? He said I'm sorry I'll give you something else would you like something else and I said no. He came back with my money for the scone. I could no longer drink anymore of that coffee. I left it on the table and I left. The floor was dirty but behind the counter looks fairly clean. The pastries look old but they were attractive looking. But don't judge a book by its cover! I expected good tasting happy goat coffee but I got discussed and Coffey both times. I don't know what that's going was made of but it tasted like a reject from the garbage dump. Not impressed and I will never come back here again

I'm rarely in Manotick, so while I remembered that they were good, I felt it would be unlikely that I would visit their Manotick cafe. Then they opened up a second location in Ottawa in an industrial park on Colonnade, which was much closer to home than Manotick for me. It still took me a while to make it there, but I finally did. It's a cute cafe inside, despite being in an industrial park. They sell drinks, baked goods, soups, ready to eat meals and refrigerated/bake at home meals. They are primarily a caterer, but it's nice that they have a storefront where you can grab some lunch or snacks and even dine in. Baked goods are on the pricier end like $4 for a Nanaimo Bar or dessert square. Entrees with a side salad are $10-$12 but the portions are pretty modest. However, their food is good and healthier than greasy fast food ;) I've had their sandwiches, which are tasty but way too much mayo/sauce for my liking. Their desserts are also very rich, lol. Their lasagna is good (and not too saucy). I also liked their broccoli salad (which didn't have too much dressing, which is a common compliant of mine when it comes to broccoli salad, as most places drench it in mayo). You know I love those hidden places in industrial parks, and Take Another Bite!, Ottawa location, is one of them. Free parking in front of the cafe.

And many spots to sit outside in nice weather. Baked goods are hard to resist. Small but mighty selection. Everything is good! Coffee is reliably well made, and the cozy seating area is great on a cold day. What I love about inside is the low key quirkiness, from old hair salon chairs to snow shoe art, I usually spot something I've never noticed before. They do also have a small light lunch type of menu, and anything I've ordered from that has been tasty. Staff are top notch - well versed on the product, always genuine, and efficient. It's a little gem hidden away in the neighborhood. In summer, parking can be a challenge, and the ice cream line looks daunting. But good things come to those who wait, and the line moves at an efficient pace.

Service was courteous, and we appreciated the fact that an employee came out to wash down the tables periodically.

They have some seating available, including floor cushions. There is a sign that states limit to one hour when busy which I can understand. We arrived shortly before the post Iftar rush. It got very busy very quickly. Staff seemed to be overwhelmed as they get through all customers. We waited to have our order taken but sat down when they were busy. Eventually we placed our order and waited. Since we only got an adani chai and kunafa, we got our items quickly. The Adana chai was cooked well, it was creamy and flavourful. We got sugar sticks $.75 the concept it great, however, the stick breaks very quickly leaving your drink incredibly sweet so make sure to not leave it in there if you want a somewhat sweet tea. The kunafa was $12 for a piece. This was dissatisfying, it appeared to be re-heated because that was definitely not a fresh kunafa. It was dry and around the edges. We only had a few bites and left it. Overall, They have a large selection of drinks to choose from, and sandwiches. It appears to be incredibly busy during Ramadan but I will definitely come back to have the tea again.

I got takeout and got the Liver Platter $14.15, which was liver with onions, bell peppers and chili peppers. It came with Tanoor bread, which is a flat bread. The liver was piping hot and very flavourful, but some pieces were a bit tough with chewy pieces I couldn't eat. I was disappointed that the bread was not warm, just room temperature, but it was soft and chewy and still ok. The Liver Platter is their most popular dish. The inside of the cafe is nice. There are some regular tables, some high tables and some low tables where you sit on cushions. Those tables are pretty but they were occupied, so I couldn't take a picture for y'all. There's a live bird in a cage in the cafe, a musical instrument on the wall and other cool decorations. My visit was during the Covid-19 Pandemic and mask mandates were still in effect. However, I noticed that one of the people working there (I think he's the owner, bald guy) was interacting with customers at a distance of less than 6 feet (not behind plexiglass) while not wearing a mask. The young guy sweeping the floors was wearing a mask (and he wore it the entire time I was there), but the bald guy wasn't when I entered the cafe. As I was waiting for my food, more people came in and at that point he put on a mask, but it was so loose, I could see nose. This is what I observed. The cafe seems cozy and I like the decor. I may consider returning once the Pandemic is over. The cafe is in a little plaza (same plaza as Pizza Hut) and there's free parking in the shared parking lot.

Many times they are just ok, but once in a while I'll find a hidden gem. I had a medical appointment across the street, so afterwards I popped into Coffee 'n Crust to grab a bite to eat. I got a steak and cheese sandwich $12.99 and a carrot muffin $2.49. I spoke to Pete, the owner, for a bit while his wife prepared my sandwich. Pete is very friendly and engaging and also has a great sense of humour. Their primary business is as a meat supplier. They moved into the space because of the large freezer. That was summer of 2024. Since they are on the ground floor of an office building, they had workers coming in and asking if they sold coffee, which they initially didn't since they only sold meat. So in October 2024 they decided to open up the restaurant to sell coffee and some food. I did like that Pete asked me if I wanted spicy mayo or regular mayo on my sandwich, so I had the opportunity to request no mayo. He also checked if I wanted the bread buttered, which I didn't. I don't like my sandwiches wet/saucy nor greasy, so I'm glad he asked. The steak and cheese sandwich had steak and cheese and onions. It was ok, but I think some mushrooms and green peppers would have livened it up. Although I eat meat, I don't like gamey or strong tasting or smelling meat. I found the meat too gamey for my liking. I did enjoy the generous amount of cheese in my sandwich though. The carrot muffin was a good size and adequately moist. I wasn't wowed by it, but it wasn't bad. There are some tables to eat in but it's mostly a takeout place. They are relatively new to the restaurant game, so I'm hoping their menu and food will evolve. I'd love to see more sandwich toppings offered. Maybe I just ordered the wrong sandwich, but I like more vegetables in my sandwich than just onions. The space used to be another restaurant called Toss 'n Grill before Pete and his wife took over the location. Parking in the building parking lot is paid parking but you can park for an hour for free with any purchase. Review #114 (2025)
