I stumbled upon this shop after shopping in the outlet stores nearby. I didn't stay long as I just wanted to quickly stop in and move on. I did have to wait in the line for a while. Whoever was working was making one drink in its entirety one by one before starting the next. I think that should be normal but I'm not sure why it felt longer than it should've been. Once I ordered, the worker just made my order, I received it, a minute or 2 later and just headed out just fine. The inside has some art on the walls mentioning the street it's which is nice and it was brightly lit and colored. I came in to redeem my free vanilla bean latte. It was one man operated, I was disappointed during the pandemic that their 5 person sign limit was not enforced. There was a customer waiting for her order to be filled, theres a father and son, theres two women following and me waiting for my order to be recieved ---so six of us. I advised the girl at the til, who spent more time receiving my order and ignoring my information to her. I'm pretty sadden over her disregard for covid capacities :( read more

Fast, friendly, and reliable with a good dessert selection -- especially of cakes and baked goods. I also like the multiple cream selection that's avaiable to go with their smooth and strong coffee. The chocolate almost croissant has a nice buttery flavor, crisp crust, and delicious almond filling. The oreo cheesecake is light and fluffy, and surprisingly not too sweet. read more

second Cup? I couldn't even drink the first one. I am not sure if that meant they need two attempts to make a drinkable coffee. So just to be sure I sent the putrid first attempt back. What was made the second time wasn't much better. I ended up just throwing it in the garbage outside. I would speculate there must be same dead rat inside the espresso machine and what is being made is some form of rotting dead animal flavour. It was somewhere between bitter and rancid. Giving a single star to this location is being about three stars to generous. If you are looking for the worst tasting coffee on the planet then this location is a definite contender. The owner of this location is putting SHAME on the second cup name. Customer service is awful... and not from its staff members-- from the person who owns the place! I love second cup, but this has made me uncomfortable and unwilling to be a returning customer. I've visited many locations regularly and the heartland location in particular destroyed my view on the company. The OWNER, when serving me REFUSED to allow me to put the tea bags that come with my large tea by myself. He pointed his fingers at me and stated that if he doesn't put the tea himself he will only give me the cup of hot water and no tea bags. This is ridiculous! I like to put the tea bags myself because I like it to steep it at a certain temperature that is not as hot, therefore I let the water cool. Besides this, I also ordered a slice of red velvet cake and my friend ordered a latte. Once we got our stuff we asked for a glass of water on the side.. the owner said NO and he would have to charge us. FOR WATER! I understand if we didn't order anything, but we spent almost 20 dollars, a glass of water shouldn't hurt his pocket that bad! I believe in second chances, which is why I visited this place a second time and I officially feel that this review is necessary. I had bad customer service and horrible attitude from the owner during both visits. He's constantly behind the cash register crossing his arms and glaring at his customers for asking questions, making requests or modifying their order. Second cup... save your brand and fire this guy! I believe the only reason this is still open and has business is because of the location and lack of competitors. If it were to rely solely on the way the owner manages the store and respects its customers this place would have shut down years ago. read more

Four stars for the atmosphere, 1 star for the beverage. I'm kind of torn because the space was really nice, the washroom was decently clean and they had some great outdoor seating. But the apple cider I ordered tasted like hot apple water and had a thick layer of apple cider silt on the bottom, which only somewhat improved the taste when I stirred it around halfway through my cup. In the end, the quality of the product is what matters. Maybe next time I'm in the area and I want to have a nice drink on the patio, I'll get something from the Subway next door. read more

It's nice here. It's small and comfy with a little fireplace just out of the way. The staff seam a little annoyed when you ask for a coffee, but, you can easily get over that once you sit down and enjoy the comfy atmosphere that they created. The cool jazz in the background is also pretty nice to have. It's like a cost-effective version of a Starbucks. It's also a nice little escape from everything around it (Heartland). Trust me, this power center needs a location like this. read more

I don't like their coffee much as its too dry for my liking. Their store location is great! This store still in the middle of Heartland town centre and is decent in size. The size allows them to provide more seating and they also have free wifi. The plugs on the other hand aren't much. The service is not too slow but not fast either so its not a hassle. The wash are not that clean but that is due to the amount of traffic which goes in and out. Well if you are tired of shopping its a good stop by or a good place to meet friends as there is plenty of parking as well. read more

It's a great atmosphere for a casual cup of coffee and a sweet treat! I ordered a pumpkin spice latte on a Thursday evening, and the barista who made it did a phenomenal job. BUT an older worker who was with the barista began yelling and speaking to her in an unwelcoming and rude tone. I felt attacked for the barista, as she was just taking in the shouting. What I really liked about this particular location is the fact that they have outdoor seating, their patio is quite nice. Second cup has always been on the pricey side of the scale but at least their coffee is good. In fact I love their drinks. Other than that, not much else I can say. Coffee was ok, customer service was horrible. My husband always buys coffee from them for ourselves so I don't go in very often. I have been there once by myself on a regular day with a big smile on my face, there was a brown man(guess he was the manager) and a skinny Filipino barista who basically just told me to leave money, grab my coffee and go. I shared that terrible experience with my husband but he said they were always so friendly to him. Today, I went in with my husband again (hoping to be served by friendlier staff) and that Filipino lady recognized him. Although I was standing in front of my husband, she totally ignored my eye contact ,big smile and hello and went right to my husband with excitement, asking if he wanted his regular drink and was trying very best to ignore whatever I was trying to order. I then walked to another girl at the cashier and asked if I could order an Italian soda for myself. Nice place to have coffee, horrible customer service. Once I said I want to load $15 in my card, the receptionist load $15 twice. I inquiry to cancel the order, she said she couldn't do anything. She want me to put $15 more because of her mistake. I never heard there is no way to cancel past transaction. So I said I can transfer my card credit to the store gift card, however the customer service refused to do. Eventually it was resolved by reaching the store manager and debit $15 from my card, the customer service just made up a story in front of me while she is talking to the manager. I couldn't imagine what going to happen if it was accidentally charged extra from the account. They would probably let me buy whole lot of things and let me go away. I've been coming here each time I go to Heartland. With a nice sitting area and atmosphere, it's easy to just chill if you're not into shopping. But the big question is... how are the drinks? They're hit and miss. I've had one of the best lattes in a long time here and I've also had the WORST espressos here as well. It really depends on the barista and if your stomach is lined with steel. I'm not sure who trained this one particular barista but holy cow, this one latte was really good. Piping hot, smooth, and the right amount of espresso, milk, and foam, I was dang impressed since they usually are thrown together blindly. Annnnd I'm sure they DIDN'T train the other one who gave me the MOST bitter espresso with gritty grounds in it. I think my stomach died on that sip... or at least went into hiding in my body. Either way, it's decent place for coffee would recommend to anyone who just wants to relax in the middle an outlet oasis and wants to rest their feet. read more

They recently did a complete renovation of the cafe and it looks so much better now. Much brighter, more outlets, more modern looking, and even has a custom-designed 'Heartland' painting on the wall that's really interesting. Great coffee, great treats. The staff are (usually) friendly, though some of the staff I find very cold like they don't want to be there. Other than that, great location and this will definitely be one of my main coffee spots. read more

I'm happy to give four stars for the atmosphere of this Second Cup but most truthfully, this location receives a maximum of 1 star for its beverage and customer service. A week ago, I ordered an Americano for myself and my dad. We're not ones to drink a full cup each so we often split a small Americano between the two of us - that has been our practice every Saturday morning at several Second Cup locations. To my surprise the barista and the manager refused to provide us an extra cup. When I offered to pay a couple extra cents, she strengthened her resolve to refuse my request, justifying her decision by claiming that some customers use the extra cup to share with others. Not only are there many holes her logic (because I could easily bring in an extra cup from home and do the same) but I strongly believe it is up to the customer to decide how they would like to enjoy their beverages. As mentioned, my dad and I love to share a small cup of coffee. Any more than a couple gulps for each one of us would be a waste. Reluctantly, I complied with the manager's unexamined logic and paid for my order, hoping that the coffee would make up for my poor customer experience. This review ends with the fact that I had to throw out my Americano because it tasted more burnt than the charcoal on the bottom of my grill! read more

Worst customer service ever! The Heartland store gets lowest marks for having the worst customer-service mindset from the franchise owner himself. My wife went with her friend the other week. Her friend ordered a latte and my wife who just had breakfast decided that she will order her coffee later. Not even 5 minutes have passed after they sat down when the owner, Harry, came over and rudely told them that if they are not ordering, they should leave. My wife and her friend were shocked and tried to explain that she will order her coffee later and that her friend had already ordered her coffee. Harry still insisted that they leave. Needless to say, my wife and her friend are shocked and traumatized by this person's display of arrogance and rude behaviour. We filed a complaint with Second Cup customer service and demanded that Harry issue a personal apology in the presence of Second Cup management. To Second Cup's credit, Harry was forced to give an apology even if it came across as fake and insincere. Avoid this place like a plague. There are lots of other places that are far more welcoming and customer-friendly than this place. Rating is one star because the zero-star option is not available. read more

This coffee shop is right across from where I work, so it's a convenient place to grab a drink or snack in between or when I'm on break. The staff definitely isn't the friendliest, but it's a cozy area to sit in and would probably make for a nice study/reading area. As far as beverages go, I've always been a fan of the sparkling green tea lemonade and the strawberry lemonade chiller. Not exactly fan of hot drinks in general. read more

It appears previous reviews about the service are quite misguided, since those with whom we interact are always a reflection of our selves. I am a regular here and I find the staff to be extremely friendly and always helpful. They know me by name and I know most of them by name. Yes, the atmosphere is great. Even on a busy day you can feel as if you belong. It helps that I'm a fan of Second Cup to begin with. But just as others are a reflection of us, a staff is always a reflection of their management. The franchise owner, Harry -- who also works there -- is a really nice and friendly man and he has imparted that nature to his baristas. If you are fortunate enough to become a regular patron, rest assured you will be known by name. Extraordinary customer service with beautiful, genuine smiles! Second Cup has always been over priced. It is even more expensive than Starbucks while their coffee is not even comparable. Though the only reason I came by is that its the closest to my home. Though that is not the problem. The staff & manager at this branch is very rude & has asked us not to stay for over an hour unless if each of us order a new drink every hour. The funny part it was three of us and we were planning to stay for a bit less than 2 hours but was still reminded over 3 times! It would have been nice if they have put a sign outside to limit your seating for two hours at this Second cup rather than asking in a very rude way & without even feeling sorry about it. The worst. Got there 45 minutes after the store was supposed to be open and they weren't ready. Ordered a sandwich and the oven hadn't been turned on. I asked how long and the employee said a few minutes. 8 minutes later oven still not preheated and I let her know I had to go. She then pulls the sandwich out of the oven. Cleary the sandwich would not have been prepared correctly. I did not take sandwich and had to leave to get to an appointment. My quick stop for a coffee and breakfast to go was over 15 minutes. When I sent in a complaint to the head office the slow response was they couldn't give me a credit but would send over coupons for a couple of beverages. That is ridiculous. I wanted a refund on the sandwich I never took. I pass by this second cup 5 days a week. I'm going to keep on driving and stick with Starbucks. You should also steer clear. I used to go here almost every day on my break while working. Most of the staff are quite friendly, and a few of them came to recognize me and remember my regular order (just a regular coffee with a little bit of soy milk). However, I stopped going on principle because the owner took my order once, and she is extremely rude, unreasonable, and generally mean-spirited. I complained to my coworkers about the unfriendly service when I returned to work after encountering her on my break, and, surprise!--They alI knew EXACTLY who I was talking about without me even having to describe her. Nov 5, 2014 at exactly 6:35 my wife and i decided to stop at this Second cup just before heading to Costco for a Chai Latte, we walked, i ask my wife to find a seat while i join the line with only 1 person in front me and i cannot believe what i see, the 2 employees are totally ignoring us while one pretends she is cleaning up and the other is facing us while loudly chatting with her friends on personally things. i ask the customer infront of me if she's been served or ignored and she says yes they are ignoring us and we both walk away and looked upon by the employee still chatting. This is the second time i have got very poor service from this location and i will never ever come back. there are other places to sit and enjoy your time without poor service read more
