They quickly verified the model and install records and scheduled and appointment that was about two weeks out. That's not too bad for this time of year. To my surprise I received a call the next day asking me if their tech could service it that day as they'd had an opening occur. Their price was reasonable and Ken kept the work area clean and it was like he was never here. Except the fireplace looked brand new! Thank you!

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but after my experience with Shields Fireside Hearth &…read moreHome, I feel like I need to share it to help others avoid the frustration I went through. I hired this company to install a fireplace, and from start to finish, it was a frustrating experience. Once I paid the down payment, the company's attitude completely shifted. Cindy, the lady that runs the office, was rude, dismissive, and frankly, condescending. Darin, the owner, "forgot" several commitments that were made during the quoting process, leaving us with an incomplete installation. I ended up having to either finish the work myself or hire other professionals to get the job done right -- including moving electrical, rebuilding the hearth base, and even hiring a roofer to fix the improperly installed chimney collar. This entire process left me feeling misled, overcharged, and really disappointed in the quality of both the service and the professionalism. If you decide to work with this company, make sure you get every single detail in writing and double-check everything. I would not hire them again. Would not recommend.
