PLEASE! BEWARE!!!! It is no surprise that there are 9 prior reviews out of 12 showcasing what an absolute nightmare it is to work with Seaside Vacations, but alas here's our story. Our annual OCMD family vacation had a poor start when we learned there weren't any towels provided that were promised and quickly turned for the worst Day 2 when our AC started to malfunction. Given the 80+ degree days in July an operating AC is critical. We contacted Seaside Vacations to let them know that although there was air pushing in the main living room (where the thermostat was located) the vents to the bedrooms were completely blocked and it was stifling. They sent a tech to evaluate and texted us that the AC was frozen, so following their instructions we shut off the unit for one hour. The next morning we awoke dripping with sweat in our beds finding not even a whisper of air moving. We again reached out to Seaside Vacations who let us know that the ENTIRE SYSTEM needed to be replaced that they would search for a nearby replacement condo to stay in for the rest of our stay(read the receipts attached below). We received a call back that nothing was available, but they would send fans for our inconvenience and to let them know what else they could do to help. Obviously, as any sane person would, we requested some form of compensation for our suffering. When making this request we spoke with Lexi who guaranteed compensation would be granted, but the amount would be determined by her manager. Being reasonable people and the next day being a holiday (4th of July) we waited for a call back. We did not receive one until we called multiple times only to be met with mockery, arrogance, and downright the most repulsive professional behavior from managing partner, Jason McConnell. It is BAFFLING that one can speak to another human with such disregard and still be employed. It is very well clear at this point after our conversation with both Jason and Dorothy that Seaside Vacations does not have any respect for their customers and we will not be compensated. This review is simply a PLEA to anyone seeking a fun peaceful vacation.. DO NOT BY ANY MEANS book a property managed by Seaside Vacations. PS: I cannot wait for Elaine's response of complete disregard for our troubles as SHE has clearly coached her managing partners and employees to have the same lack of integrity and tactless behavior.

Offers beautiful houses on Chincoteague Island, VA. HAVE STAYED AT Pony Paradise and Painted Pony Cottage. Both prime locations, especially during Pony Penny week. Very close to everything and walking distance to most. Seaside Vacations employees and owners are so friendly and easy to work with. Puppy friendly too!! Love the island!!

Horrible what a nightmare. Runnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!SEA SIDE vacation rentals. 4701 alantic ave #14 we rented. Horrible we where 8 hours a way from home. And made these reservations in January. We look up what we thought was the best company seaside realty. Which turn out Horrible. I just got off the phone with Dorothy I've talk too her. Becca, Megan kaylie. My first message was sent about the house smelling of urine. And the mattress cover completely stained with urine marks. The ac wasn't workingon second or third floor. We had to clean the house there was over 7 ppl that came during our 5 day stay. The bathtub was completely back up Mold all over. Had to scrub bathtub before and after plumber. It was debate that the house smelled of urine by Dorothy & Becca because cleaning crew was out there and maintenance workers. Please keep that in mind as we go further into this. I'm attaching pictures and text message. I was just told if it was that Horrible why didn't we leave!!?. We plan this trip since January so we had many plans that has nothing to do with the house at all. Time off of work. Finding pet sitters reservations etc. We where not offer a different place too stay. In the end we where givin 10 percent of the cost it was around 4200 for the stay. I'm livid she explained that every time there was a problem why this is true. was it fun having ppl in and out ? Was it fun having no air the first night? Was it great having to clean? Was it fun having to debate urine smell or have them come out no it wasn't at all. Was told the cleaning crew has since been let go but what about all the other ppl that where in the house because new owners bought it ??? No one seen all these things. This isn't little crumbs on the counter. Nor wear and tear. Owner reach out to me I ask for full refund. We didn't even. Get the 10 percent refundMessage from owner Holly, we are truly sorry that you are upset with your experience with us. You clearly have a motive by posting all of your false information and photographs after you stayed in our home for 3 nights. Including our personal information on social media is also completely uncalled for and will not be tollerated. We will no longer continue to correspond with you and wish you the absolute best in your future endeavors. EDIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm in complete shock on her response. Why would I ever do anything like that? You trying to make me look bad is fine. You can see that it's the same house. You habe since removed your fb reviews on the fb page as there was alot of adults In this household. You offered us 10 percent if I took down my posts. You can fool some of the ppl some of the time!! I've had 10 plus ppl message me with similar nightmare vacation LOOK AT THE OTHER REVIEWS ON YELP. ON HER SITES, SHE HAS THE NEGATIVE ONES REMOVED. THE LIESSSSSSS The messages are from a auto number that everyone had that's hoe you check in and out. If you look at the dates and time. The ac wasn't handled in minutes but rather the next day in the afternoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still so upset about this trip and how this was handled.

The dish drainer in the room we stayed in. The owner claims that their housekeeper "runs a tight ship" - yeah ok.

EDIT: I just saw Elaine's response to my review, and it is all lies. I am stunned. - I never told her not to send a cleaner. I told her I didn't see a point in sending a cleaner since we were leaving the next day, but if it made her feel better, she could. But then she didn't. - She never spoke to me about the door or maintenance man, and I never told her the "door was working better" - never happened. The door was never working better. - She claims "upon inspection" they did not find any cleaning issues. Upon inspection when? And who was doing the inspection, her cleaning staff that was responsible for the original mistakes? - She was very rude to me in our correspondence during my stay, and then again after I left a bad review on Airbnb and she was mad about it. To be totally transparent, I have screenshot our full email conversation, starting with my initial email complaining about cleanliness and ending with my follow-up email asking about the refund on the cleaning fee. I have never see such blatant lies. My experience was very similar to the other 1-star reviewer's. Elaine Stitcher, the co-owner, was rude and dismissive of our complaints. If Elaine ever sees this review, she will very likely deny what I'm about to say, but remember this Elaine - I have our emails. I have pictures. I have videos. It was dirty, I was given incorrect check-in info, and the host was apathetic and disbelieving of my complaints. First issue - I had received multiple emails about the key code for the lock box. They sent me multiple key codes. But when we arrived, there was no lockbox. After 10 minutes of searching we realized the key was taped to the door, but no one bothered to tell us. Next, the roller to the sliding door was broken. We were warned about this, but we were also told maintenance would fix it ASAP. No one ever came by to fix it, so we had to yank and pull on the door with all our might the entire weekend. We get inside. The floor is littered with crumbs and grass...whatever, we just want to start our vacation. We clean it ourselves. We start unpacking. My husband notices the dish drainer, which is caked in grime and onion shells. See the photo I uploaded. We put it under the sink and lay paper towels for dish drying. We use the bathroom. It has a funky smell, but don't know where it's coming from. Two days later we find out - there is a rotting hamburger in the garbage underneath the bathroom sink. The hamburger was the final straw. I emailed the hosts, voicing my displeasure with the room's cleanliness and asking for a refund on the cleaning fee. Elaine, one of the hosts, was sympathetic while at the same time admonishing for not telling her about the dirtiness sooner. She swears up and down there must have been a scheduling mix up and asks to send someone to our room right away to clean it. I tell her it's kind of pointless since our stuff was everywhere and we were leaving the next day, but if it made her feel better, she could. She never sent anyone to clean. Meanwhile, we can't use our outdoor space because the AC unit from the room above is dripping directly on it. I have videos demonstrating this. The day we left, I emailed Elaine and asked her if she planned to refund our cleaning fee. She says I never asked for a refund, and since it was only one issue that she didn't see a point. I tell her I indeed did ask for a refund on the cleaning fee in my original email (I have the receipts to prove it) and that it wasn't only one issue, it was multiple. She writes back saying she'll see what she can do, and that's the last I heard from her. I would have left a mediocre review instead of a bad one, but the host's apathy to the issues we dealt with and her blatant lying made me leave a one-star review. I would love to share our email exchange because most people would remark "what is this host thinking saying these things" but I'm unsure of the legality of it.

This unit was dirty. The carpet was very worn down and filthy! Horrible or customer service when the fridge broke we had to through away all of our groceries. Someone came out to "fix it" didn't fix it and left the trash all over the place, and in the garbage can we were using! Looks they they have or just had bed bugs!!!!!! There was also an infestation of ants and what appears to be bed bugs. Warning beware of these condos !!!!!

Grime wiped up from floor. When I told Elaine the floor was dirty she refused to believe me.

If you insist on a rental from this company (which I suggest you avoid like a coughing COVID patient), do it on Airbnb and ONLY communicate with them on the Airbnb platform so there is a record of it. They will give you their personal numbers and insist you communicate with them that way...don't. My husband and I wasted a week of our lives arguing with the owner of this rental company while staying at 'Paradise' (don't worry, they sold it to some poor souls). I won't go into lengthy detail because reliving that nightmare is just that but we arrived to a filthy floor, stained gross furniture, broken door handles, many broken big ticket items (jacuzzi tub, dryer, bedroom TV), and rude dismissive staff every step of the way. They let service people in while we weren't home first with little warning (not enough time to get home to be there), then with no warning at all (we arrived home to a new - wrong, appliance one day). Elaine is BY FAR the WORST business person I have ever dealt with. She's rude, nasty, and a liar. She throws her staff under the bus and dodges responsibility. After all the issues we had her true personality came shining through and she just made up lie after lie because I reported them to the better business bureau. She stated I asked to check in early and was mad when told I couldn't (like I'm some pouting 4 yr old) but the truth is that my husband worked that day, we didn't even leave NY until after 4pm, there's no way I would have even asked for that! Try again. And that linen rental? Since I never experienced that I assumed they at least made up the beds. Nope. We arrived at 2am to two bags of linens thrown in the the lower level. We had to drag everything up to make up our beds. And my favorite, the 'amenity bag'. They should really look up that word because the last time I checked toilet paper and dish soap are NECESSITIES, and provided by every other place I've stayed at, and then some. We rented this townhome as a gift to my husband for his birthday and a break to us from working through COVID (I'm an ICU nurse) and it was literally the WORST vacation of my life. I won't even return to this island because their ugly signs are everywhere and would make me shudder. Run. From them.

Not going to stoop to lying. Proof is in the emails. I clearly asked to reschedule.

Our communications with Sherry and staff before arrival were responsive and helpful. The home is simply stunning on the inside and perfect for 2 couples. What put a negative ending on our lovely stay was the attitude of Island Getaways toward personal items left behind. "Throw it away" is their attitude and policy. It is evidently too much hassle for a customer service vacation rental company to facilitate the return of accidentally forgotten belongings to renters - AFTER they have vacated the property. I can't help they cynicism in my thoughts... they have our money, we've left the property spotless, except for our forgotten personal items, and they cannot find the time or generosity to make a phone call to discuss a return using the credit card information they already have. I told them I would pay extra for the box, padding and their time arranging it. My items included about 6 personal 4-8 oz jars of nuts & seeds (collectible glass canning jars) NOT fresh store bought food, and an unopened 32 oz cannister of high quality protein powder. I don't know anyone personally who would intentionally leave personal items behind. I believe that's why it's termed "accidental." I believe people are capable of knowing the difference between store bought fresh food and personal collectible jars filled with pantry items. I believe people realize an unopened cannister of protein powder is fairly expensive. I believe most people are good and kind and generous when given an opportunity to be helpful to others. It turns out even in the off season - when Island Getaways office staff is obviously not as busy as during peak season - it is way too much hassle to carry customer service to the customer AFTER they are no longer on site.

After our experience with Cattail Cottage and Harbour Rental's staff and management, we will never be booking them again. Arriving at Cattail Cottage this year, everything seemed to be okay except that the only actual couch in the house in the back room is stained. We did not mind this much because we were not visiting Chincoteague to sit on the couch. One day, after getting back from dinner and hanging out in town, we arrived back to see that the house had become infested with hundreds of ants. Most of the ants were located in the bathroom right off of the bedroom, which unfortunately has a type of barn door on a slide which does not reach the floor to close off the bathroom to separate this issue from where we would be sleeping. We reported the infestation to Harbour Rentals that night and followed up again in the morning and repeatedly throughout our week in Chincoteague after sleeping elsewhere beginning that night. The office only gave us six Terro ant bait traps for hundreds of ants. After spending most of the next day playing exterminator and cleaning the house on vacation, the ants seemed to subside for that day, however, they returned and were now also in the kitchen, especially by the sink, even though we did not use the kitchen other than storing things in the fridge. We repeatedly reached out to Harbour Rentals requesting a call from the manager, named Anita according to office staff Bill and Sandy, throughout the remainder of our stay and never heard from her. Upon dropping off our keys on the last day, Sandy was in office and stated that Anita had visited the house without telling us and while we were not there. Sandy stated that Anita did not find any evidence of ants in the home, however, prior to us dropping off the keys, we did our own walk through of the cottage and found even more ants, both dead and alive, all around the home and took a video which showcases this. We still have not heard from or seen the manager, Anita, after having repeatedly requesting a call, sending an email, and visiting the office in person multiple times.
