Waiter suggested the seafood casserole as the best on the menu but we couldn't even eat it. It sounded delicious but it was gelatinous, fishy, and off-tasting. None of the seafood we got here was good to be honest. The lobster roll was also the worst I've ever had. There was a very small amount of lobster that was shredded and diced up very small. The lettuce tasted out of place, as did the sugary mayo. The bun was toasted perfectly, buttery and airy. As was the garlic toast which came on the side of the seafood casserole. The poutine was awesome, the fries had that amazing fluffy crispy texture. The gravy was also well seasoned and some of the cheese curds were melty. The Ceasar salad was mediocre, with artificial bacon bits. Beautiful views, with indoor and outdoor seating available. The windows are so large that you aren't missing out on anything by sitting inside. The waiter didn't let us know that we had to go to the front to pay so we were waiting in the check for quite some time. She only checked on us once after the food came. But overall the service was good. read more

The seafood chowder really is excellent. Hearty, but not too much cream like at Quincy Market. read more

Awesome haddock and fries. Very fresh, just caught this am. Coleslaw was really good too. Right next to the more busy Caves Restaurant. Great find and service! read more

'World Famous.'?? False advertising. My Father in Law & I had the Seafood chowder. It was mostly fish, three tiny shrimp, and I don't think you can consider it lobster. Hardly any. Broth was nice. My husband had the Clam Strips. Soooooo thinly sliced. All batter. My Mother in law had the lobster Roll. It was good she said, she's eaten better. No celery for crunch. She likes bigger pieces of lobster. But it was all bits and cut fine. The taste was good. Just not world famous. Lobster Roll at mcD's is better she said. Now the canned coke! Was cold ! Awesome. read more

We ordered the seafood chowder and a side of coleslaw. The chowder was chock full of seafood and was delicious. The cole slaw was great as well but the portion was tiny. The service was excellent. read more

If you are in New Brunswick and are exploring the Fundy Trail with an intent to view the world's highest tides come in and out, then you must first go to the village of St.Martins to see the marina dry out at low tide leaving the boats touching ground. They come back up when the tides come back in. Then you will want to turn the corner to see the 'caves' and stop off at this great little seaside restaurant. Their seafood chowder is creamy, chock full of seafood and is delish! I also ordered the shrimp dinner with mashed potatoes which was good but not great. The service is genuine small town, and they love what they serve. However, nothing beats the view! See the picture I posted. In the context of a touristy seaside restaurant, these guys deserve 4/5 stars. read more

Seaside Restaurant - Award winning seafood chowder is absolutely fantastic. - Seafood Near Me - Orange Hill, New Brunswick

This place is horrible. Horrible service, horrible food, and horrible prices. The only thing I liked about this place was the view and that's not worth paying much for though since I could have it for free. Where do I start?? Service- our waitress was awful, not only was negligent she was also extremely rude. As someone who had very briefly worked in a service industry, I know that is not the right way to treat customers. We were sitting outside and my father asked to open the umbrella because it was so sunny we couldn't enjoy her food and she straight up said no. Whether this was due to laziness or other reasons I don't know but this was only the start. Food- their seafood IS NOT FRESH despite what they say. This is called FALSE ADVERTISING. The "award winning" seafood chowder is a joke- it's seriously just tastes like salted milk with a few pieces of dried up lobster. The salad they gave us were a few pieces of lettuce with two cherry tomatoes and shaved carrots with a packet of dressing. We also ordered a fish dish which tasted like it was straight out of the frozen department at the supermarket. The carrots are just plain carrots boiled, and the mashed potatoes were dry and plain awful. It came with two packages of butter. I'm pretty sure I can make a better meal from instant mashed potatoes. Finally, the worst part of the meal was the "fresh lobster." Now, my family drove here just from Maine so we know what fresh lobster tastes like. This was repulsive. The meat was just dry and i'm sure red lobster probably has better lobster. Now back to the service- my parents have gently pointed this out to the waitress and she gave us such a dirty look. Instead of apologizing she defended herself and said that it was fresh and that it was probably our faults. What. She didn't perceive it to ignore us and give us dirty looks for the rest of our meal- and honestly it was very uncomfortable. At the end of my dad pointed this out to the owner and all we got was "oh". Deep down I think they know that they are scamming everyone with the "fresh seafood" claim but they should be able to take accountability for their mistakes. The prices are ridiculous here for the quality of food and this was the worst meal I've ever had during my whole vacation. I strongly urge people to avoid this establishment!!!!!! read more

Variety of food with a great view of the Sea Caves. We had fish and chips and the fish was fresh and not over cooked. Also the batter was not at all greasy. Good for families. Staff friendly and it didn't take long to get our food. Their prices are very fair. If you visit the Caves the restaurant is right on the beach. Definitely with a visit. We will eat here again on our next visit. read more

Seaside Restaurant - Seafood Near Me - Orange Hill, New Brunswick

Portions here were quite small, especially for price, and the food was passable, but not outstanding. If I recall correctly, the calamari was somewhere between $8-10, and I got about $5-6 worth of small calamari rings. The mussels were $10-12, and I got about $6-8 worth of mussels. I really do wish there were more seafood options that weren't deep fried or drowned in some sort of cream sauce. That does get boring after a while. They had a special while we were here that was a lobster and crab roll and bowl of chowder for $20, if I'm not mistaken. We shared a number of plates, but if it had been just me eating that special, I wouldn't have been full after. read more

I moved to the area a year ago but when my husband and I visited this was the first seafood chowder we tried and still our favourite. Compared the The Caves restaurant (the restaurant attached next door) the chowder DOES NOT taste like it is from a mix or out of a can. I love the location, the servers are friendly and unlike next door, you can have a beer because they have their liquor license. The only thing that gets me to the Caves is that their fish and chips is way better. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the food could be better. We ordered salmon and cod that wasn't fried for nearly 20 per plate and it was most definitely Captain High Liner/Frozen. I think if you go without any expectation of fresh, non fried seafood and go for martime pub grub this place is perfect. In fact, we haven' found a place yet that does upscale, fresh seafood. If you like fried clams the portions here are quite generous and it's a great meal! The patio is great and it's quieter than next door. If you can't decide out of the two ask do I want a nice quiet dinner and a drink? If the answer is yes than Seaside it is! Yes we will be back! read more

Can't speak for the chowder, but of 2 dining companions who ordered it, one said "good", the other "watery", guess it depends on expectations. I ordered the "coconut shrimp" appetizer and a beer. They brought the wrong beer, easily fixed but then tried to charge me for both when I went to pay. The shrimp were definitely frozen breaded product, I've had better out of the freezer case and my home oven. There were 6 skinny, dry shrimp in a basket. Mehhhh Husband ordered the lobster roll and thought it just okay; it came on soft hot dog roll. He is from New England and has a lobster roll or two (dozens) in his life and was not impressed. He also order the fries upcharged to be "poutined". I tried them and they also were mehhh - bland gravy and cold cheese curds (they did not get melty), however it was a decent portion but cost an extra $4. 1 beer, 1 soda, 1 app, 1 lobster roll with upgraded poutine fries: $67.31+tx = $74.31 I would suggest trying the restaurant next door - they may have been busier for a reason. But Seaside has a deck overlooking the beach with views of the sea and sea caves. No tour buses present while we were there. read more

We like trying different restaurants and comparing food. We were next door to this place and tried their "world famous chowder" and it was good. Then we tried this place and their "award winning chowder". We didn't like this chowder very much. One review on yelp said it's "creamy", but it wasn't. Not at all. Worth trying both places for yourself since they are 50 feet from each other. read more

We order the Seafood Chowder and Lobster Roll special for $23.99. It was just ok. We thought the Chowder was very thin or watered down. We had to add a lot of Salt and Pepper. The Lobster Roll was a little better but needs more flavour. read more

Second summer in St Martins, having been to The Caves next to Seaside last year we figured we'd try the other place this year. Very warm and friendly service, can't beat the view! We had the small Fish N' Chips, Lobster and Crab Roll, basket of Mussels and the award winning chowda. Everything arrived quickly and piping hot. Fresh Haddock was quite good, and while the Lobster & Crab Roll was cool and refreshing it was relatively small minced lobster mixed in w/ crab, not the hearty lobster rolls I'm used to in Maine. Chowder appeared to be filled with a similar combination but was hearty and tasty. The greatest surprise was the value and large portion of the mussels. We'll definitely order that again, but otherwise I may lean towards their friendly neighbor for our next meal bear the caves. read more

We had lunch here today after a quick stop at the Fundy trail before some rain hit. He had the seafood chowder and I had clam strips and chips. Both were very tasty and served within a reasonable time. Service was prompt and pleasant. The clam strips come in either 8oz or 4oz portion - I opted for the smaller for lunch and was glad I did! The view here is top notch, you're pretty much as close as possible to the ocean while still being in a building. It is handy for the end of a Fundy trail adventure while on your way back to the village. read more

View was exceptional, very clean and tidy. Service was nothing special and food was way worse. Wife ordered the salmon... it was DRY and tasteless, mother inlaw ordered haddock with mashed potatoes.. tastless, dry. would have thrown it out if it came from my kitchen. I had bacon wrapped scallops and french fries... fries where frozen variety, they where the highlight of the entire meal. Scallops where very bland, tastless. oooh... there "world famous chowder" do yourself a favour, by some fresh seafood and add it to a can of Campbells seafood chowder! We've eaten better chowder at 3 different locations in the past week that didn't claim to be word famous! read more

This review is entirely based on their chowder as that was the only thing I ordered. I got take out so can't comment on service, ambience, etc. So the only reason I got chowder here is because I wanted to compare their chowder to the one next door (the caves). I actually liked the seaside chowders better as it wasn't as creamy and thick and you can taste the seafood flavours better. It was pretty packed with seafood and came with a bun. I will be back to try other items on the menu. read more

The good: great views from the comfortable dining room; responsive, friendly staff, good chowder, home-cut fries. Not so good: the lobster roll was very sweet; the Bay of Fundy scallops were wrapped in bacon (not mentioned on the menu), expensive for the quality. Would not return. read more

"Award winning" lol says who? Quick Google search shows NO awards for their chowder. We decided to try anyways... And what a disappointment. Bland chowder, lack of flavour, and very soupy (you expect chowder to be thicker). Lots of chunks of haddock and lobster but it had none of the "fishy" taste you'd be accustomed to with real seafood. The lobster roll was also flavourless (I'm suspecting it's frozen lobster) but for the price what can you expect. A real lobster roll goes for around $20+ and it's only $12 here. Caves, the restaurant beside gimmicks themselves as "world famous" but the pictures of their chowder looks nearly identical to here. read more
