I've always…read morewanted to stay at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia (on W Georgia St) or the L'Hermitage Hotel (on Richards St) as they're located closer to the places I frequented when in town so this time, I checked on availability and pricing. A one-bedroom signature suite at L'Hermitage was significantly less than a regular room at the Pan Pacific and the Rosewood so I booked 3 nights ($625CAD/night). I got off the Silver Moon at 9:45am, handed my luggage off to a representative from Luggage Forward, and walked from the cruise terminal up to the hotel. My room wasn't ready, so I dropped off my carry-on and backpack and went shopping and to have lunch. I was still on my way to CF Pacific Centre when the front desk called, informing me my room was ready. I told them I'd return after lunch. Wow, I loved my room (707)! As you entered through a short hallway, you found yourself looking at a full kitchen to your right, bathroom to your left and then the bedroom, past a closet housing a stack washer/dryer. The living room was bright and airy because there were walls of glass. Past the kitchen was a den with a desk and sofa. Off the living room was a small lanai overlooking the pool. The kitchen featured a gas range, full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. It was like a timeshare unit, not a hotel room, as there was tableware, glassware, etc. The only nitpick was the bathroom; it didn't quite measure up to the rest of the unit. It was small, with a full-sized glass-enclosed tub, a Toto (but without the washlet) toilet, and a small vanity and shelf unit opposite the vanity. It was totally functional, but I wished the tub had a shower wand, not just the rain head. If I could, I'd want this room moved to Hawaii to become my residence. The front desk staff were personable and friendly. The exercise facilities were fine. The L'Orangerie restaurant is located on the 5th floor ... more on that in a separate review. All told, I found the L'Hermitage to be perfect for me and will now be my hotel of choice when in Vancouver.

My favorite amenities--clothing steamer and hot water kettle--were promptly delivered. What's better than tea and wrinkle-free clothes? The room was quiet and afforded me uninterrupted sleep. The lighting at the desk caused my colleagues to compliment my visage on video conference calls. The location was an easy walk to everywhere I needed to go in Vancouver. L'Orangerie, the dining room and lounge on the fifth floor, was a lovely place to take tea and lunch. My dining companion and I had the place nearly to ourselves. On my next visit to Vancouver, I hope I'll be lucky enough to stay at L'Hermitage again.

If you will be using public transport however, be warned, the nearest train station is FAR, is about 8 min to 10 walk, and the terrain is not even. There are a few crosswalks and there are significant construction in the area. We were almost scratched by loose nails and sharp bushes. Not sure if safe if you have a stroller or mobility issues, as the cars can be aggressive. The nearest supermarket is Foodieland -- quite far, terrain is not even and again, cars were aggressive. We love Foodieland for the hot meals. Too bad it was quite a walk from the hotel if you just want a snack or milk. Front desk and staff were very nice. The shuttle driver did not say anything. Restaurant was lovely.

It's close to bars, restaurants, the waterfront, parks, the stadium, and a main train station. They had a cute courtyard to sit in and enjoy when the weather is nice, too. AND it has secure on-site parking if you are given a VIP upgrade (I got mine though Expedia). The hotel is also secure and safe with locking front doors after a certain hour, and an elevator activated by key card. I learned on my last night there that they offer snacks for a Sober Night In, which I thought was a cool perk. The lobby hosts chip snacks and non-alcoholic cocktails all evening. Very considerate for guest safety. The only thing that lacked was the showerhead in the bathroom. It was downright atrocious. The water pressure was non existent in my room. Maybe it is better in others. The temperature was great though so if you're a bath person then you'll be just fine.

And at night everything is covered with lights it is so nice I was in a king room facing the road because I didn't mind the noise but I ended up facing the St Paul's Hospital lights of Hope wall which was so pretty and a terrific View. In the room there's a fridge that they replace bottled water with free for you and cream for the nescafe coffee, which I actually really like I've never had it before. There's lots of Lights and a big giant television. The bathroom is Tiny and there's the most absurdly little sink that is also kind of cute. I didn't care what the bathroom size because I didn't find a big bathroom really necessary. Every night from 7:00 to 10:00 they have a non-alcoholic happy hour in the lobby where you can get cans of non-alcoholic cocktails and chips. One night they didn't have chips so they gave me two drinks, although drinks are unlimited they made me take two. In the basement there is a microwave for everyone to use, and washer and dryer. You can borrow a bike and an umbrella. I am definitely staying here the next time I go to Vancouver

The living room looks super cozy -- love the pop of red from the cushions and the new artwork on the wall. There's a bathroom followed by a little kitchen area, and I was impressed that the drawers and cabinets are fully stocked with dishes, utensils, and cooking tools. Super handy if you want to eat in. The bedroom is in the back and has a nice city view from the window. It can get a bit noisy in the hallway at night since the doors to neighboring rooms are pretty close, but because the bedroom is farther inside, I didn't really hear much once I was in bed. Overall, a comfortable and convenient place to stay in downtown Vancouver. Great location and solid value -- I'd totally come back again.

The restaurant on the first floor is crowded on weekends, so I recommend making a reservation. The hotel is conveniently located and has coffee shops, restaurants, and bars nearby. I also love the fact that they have a small kitchen which makes staying the hotel stay even better as you can store leftovers and what nots. The location is also fantastic as it is right next to Davie Street where there are a lot of restaurants and markets. The breakfast was very okay, standard continental breakfast. I will say that the oranges are quite sweet and the waffles had a bit of a mochi texture to it which is kind of interesting. I wasn't a big fan of the eggs as they were extremely runny but its kind of interesting they put steak sauce over it, maybe its a Canada thing? Oh and the breakfast is complimentary might I add. Fairmont Waterfront Vancouver BC July 2026…read more Now that I'm retired and travel alone, I wanted to push the Amtrak limits in a coast-to-coast trip from Washington, D.C.'s Union Station to the Canadian northwest, ending in Jasper, then Banff, and then Calgary. So, I started sniffing around the internet for opportunities on Amtrak, favoring segments in a private sleeping car. For a cross-country trip on Amtrak, I looked at all of the moving parts and decided to respond to the invitation I received after I submitted an inquiry into cross-country Amtrak trips. Those moving parts included figuring out which trains would travel to my intended destinations, identifying hotels that could accommodate me on my way, and booking excursions available to rail passengers along my route. Within an hour of sending my inquiry I got a response from Amtrak Vacations and its representative, Kevin Guadagnoli. Amtrak Vacations is not the same as Amtrak: working with Railbookers, a travel agency that specializes in creating customizable train vacation packages, Amtrak Vacations makes its mark by offering experienced advisors who have direct booking access to rail travel throughout North America (so it includes both U.S. and Canadian rail services). So, I have Kevin and Railbookers (and Amtrak Vacations) to thank for suggesting the Fairmont Waterfront, 900 Canada Place Way, Vancouver, for a two-day stay in July 2026. Kevin had included a 48-hour pass for the hop-on hop-off tour buses that run throughout the day and early evening. My train, Amtrak's Empire Builder from Seattle, arrived at the Pacific Central Station on time at around 10 p.m. I could have walked to the Fairmont (it's about a 30-minute walk) or used the Expo Line from Main Street-Science World (about a 6-minute bus trip). But it was late and I wanted to check in, so I took a taxi ($20 including tip). Both Seattle and Vancouver were hosting FIFA World Cup games, draining the number of hotel rooms to choose from - but Kevin's selection was perfect. The building was clean, quiet, and well-lit, with attentive service and helpful front-desk staff. It's located close to a central-city mall that includes a fast-food food court and pharmacy, and right near where the hop-on hop-off bus has its starting point. For the high rollers the hotel has a Gold room on the 9th floor - didn't check it out; but because I registered with ALL Accor (the chain's loyalty program) my room included premium wi-fi, but breakfast was on me, so I headed to McDonald's for my breakfast egg McMuffin. The room was comfortable, spacious, and had a great view of the city. I spent the two days walking and enjoying waterfront views and scenes from the hop-on hop-off bus. When it came time to check out, I headed to the Pacific Central Station where my train to Jasper would depart in the afternoon. (Note that for travelers departing the station en route to Jasper while you are permitted to check your bag, once you check it with VIA Rail Canada you won't have access to the bag until you reach your destination.) After a light lunch at Fionn MacCool's (a five-minute walk), VIA Rail was ready to get me to my next Canadian destination. The Fairmont Waterfront did a great job for this part of my transcontinental train trip.

Stayed here before our Disney Alaska cruise from June 27 to June 29 and again after the cruise on…read moreJuly 6 to July 7, and this is one of the best hotels to stay at if you're sailing out of Canada Place. Location alone makes it worth looking at since it's right there for embarkation and super easy with luggage. What really stood out was how smooth they made everything around the cruise. Porters took our luggage down for us and we tipped about $20 CAD for 4 bags. We were also able to store our extra luggage, stroller, and leave our car seat at the hotel to pick up after the cruise, which made a huge difference traveling with kids. Customer service was excellent too. I liked that whenever you called, they addressed you by name. Small touch but it made it feel a lot more personal. Pricey hotel for sure. Our pre-cruise stay was around $1,200 something for 2 nights, but we used the Chase Reserve Edith credit for $250 off and there was a double points promo, so I ended up using about 49k points total. Post-cruise was about $526 through Amex Platinum FHR and I used the $300 hotel credit there. Both stays also came with a $100 hotel credit plus free breakfast for 2 each day, which helped a lot with the value. We used the hotel credits and also liked that kids 5 and under eat free at dinner. Expensive, but with the right credits and if you're doing a cruise out of Vancouver, I'd absolutely stay here again.
