A large underwater reef makes this a favorite surf spot, especially for goofy foot surfers because of the peeling left waves. It is home to many surf contests/festivals and is perfectly suited for them. Tents of vendors line the south edge of the parking lot, a scaffolding is set up for the judges to score the surfers in their heats, and mother nature takes care of the rest. I enjoy the chance to enjoy some sunshine and to watch awesome surfers and people donning festival and beach attire. Car collectors flock to Seaside to get photos of their treasured vehicles, it is one of the best locations on the coast to snap photographs with the beach as a background. Pro tip: the best lighting is in the morning, work with the natural sunshine kiddos! The beach itself is pretty rocky, so you might want to bring a beach chair as patches of pristine sand are few and far between. A favorite police hang out, oftentimes just for donuts, but radars to trap unsuspecting drivers on Highway 101. I should know, I have been ticketed twice from those sneaky officers right here. Seaside beach is nestled on the south end of the Cardiff State beach system at the border of Solana Beach. California State Park system operates this beach with it's large parking lot and restroom facilities. Plan to pay $15 for a parking pass unless you invest in the annual pass ($195). This is one of the best beaches in California and we are lucky to have it in our own back yard.

This is an amazingly beautiful beach. You can literally walk right from the parking lot to the sand. It's super easy. You can pay to park at a machine if you don't have the Explorer Pass.

In SD county, I feel like Solana Beach is often overlooked with La Jolla and Coronado getting most of the glory. Don't get me wrong, those are AMAZING destinations. But having lived here for a while, and not being a fun of massive crowds (ie. fighting for parking and space to stretch out on the sand), I've begun enjoying alternative spots. After a delightful brunch in Solana Beach, we began to walk. What came next was unexpected - we turned down a mostly residential road and arrived at the Cherry Hill Beach lookout. The view was stunning -- I won't forget the image for a long time. The skies were perfectly blue and the water was INSANELY clear. Interestingly enough, it was low-tide which created a unique experience of having an abundance of sand to walk on. It's such a visceral, magical experience that I'll abstain from describing it in words and let the pictures do the talking. Highly recommend checking it out when you're in the area.

We drove up from Downtown San Diego to check out Solana Beach at sunset and heard Cherry Hill Beach was a local gem, a bit hidden too. Shoot we even almost missed the small path down to the beach after parking in the cul-de-sac. But we spotted the path and walked down to the staircase leading to the beach. There were maybe 8-10 people total, half of them surfers out on the water, so we had plenty of open space to sit down, take pictures, deep our fit in the water. Sunset was super pretty. We stayed til about 9pm then hopped in the car to drive back along the coast. A great night in San Diego.

I love that the park is raised higher up and some walkways built so it made it accessible to everyone. I sat down on a bench to enjoy the ocean views and was able to share my bench with a family and one person was in a wheelchair. I liked the thoughtfulness of this park. Everyone was just enjoying the beautiful weather, some having a picnic, others sunbathing, some reading. There were also plenty of people on the beach but not crowded. Lots of surfers and just everybody getting their dose of the best medicine in the world: sunshine, nature and water!! Many flowers already in bloom, so saw fields of purples and yellows and it made my heart sing! Also lots of birds here, little ones and big ones too. The gulls are very beautiful and totally not afraid of humans. Parking I could see could be a disaster here but I did find easy free 2 hour parking on the street. There are also lots and metered parking available too. I didnt get in the water today but Im preparing and when it gets just a tad bit warmer, I am definitely headed into the ocean! I loved coming here today and you probably find me here a lot moving forward!

My son loves the train! There's a bathroom near the restaurant, and walking trails. I like the grassy area because you don't have to get sand every where. One thing here is the parking, since it's next to "downtown" Del Mar, it's quite busy. Super hard to get parking near the park and beach. You have to park in the neighborhood and take a walk, or try parking in the busy downtown area which is 2 hours only. The meter person comes around and chalk your tires. Took us 30 minutes to find parking this time. Not the best.

But when you rent (or buy) a place at Seascape Sur, you would have not only one but two car spaces underground. The entire property is gated and secured, just the way I like. Not only is Seascape Sur gorgeous as you walk around the lush property, but they have multiple pools and jacuzzies to relax in. Having different pools in different areas ensures that they are never too packed, and allows you to enjoy the water...in case you don't want to walk down the steps at the edge of the property to the Solana Beach...an exhausting 2 minute walk by foot. There is a businesses center directly across the street, so you can literally walk door to door within 5 minutes for Yoga, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You are also just a short drive to several nearby beaches to relax or check out good waves for surfing. You can't help yourself feeling relaxed and blessed because of the vibe the Solana beach air brings you. If you always stayed at the Hotel, check out Airbnb or Vrbo at Seascape Sur. With a unit here, you can cook whatever you like...who knows we may very well end up sleeping on the same bed and eating with the same utensils!...at different times of course... Happy Summer!

I like the differences in each location. Unfortunately this beach was really unkempt, poorly maintained and in disrepair in all areas. Everything was dirty with trash strewn around, poorly maintained sidewalks, stairs and bathrooms. A crazy amount of homeless destroying the joys of the beaches. I hope that Californians will step up their game and work with their government and locals to bring back their beaches and appreciate what tourists bring into their communities and local businesses.

If you're looking for a great way to see the stunning North San Diego coast, this is it. From start to finish, the experience was a perfect 10/10. When we arrived, Joe was warm and welcoming, making check-in and the e-bike operation intro a breeze. Our guide, Arnie, was fantastic. He was super knowledgeable about the local history and pointed out fun and beautiful spots along the way, making the trip informative and engaging. He made sure we were comfortable and safe the entire time. The route was breathtaking! We cruised along the scenic coastal rail trail and enjoyed panoramic ocean views and stops that even we, as San Diego locals, had yet to experience. The bike's electric assist made the hills feel effortless, allowing us to focus entirely on enjoying the scenery. It was the perfect afternoon activity for tourists and locals alike. Exploring at a relaxed pace made for great memories and plenty of photo opportunities. Definitely worth the price! I highly recommend Ride Solana Beach to everyone! Whether you're a local or a tourist, this e-bike tour is a must-do. We can't wait to come back and try one of their other tours and rentals!
