The time spent behind-the-wheel as well as the closed course sessions were definitely very good with patient and good teachers and driving instructors. They taught her the rules of driving well. However, trying to schedule the Plus 10 hours portion of her contract has been tedious and quite unpleasant. The person who schedules these sessions at the Novi location has been offering times during the week when my sophomore is in school and it's difficult to find any availability immediately after school. At one point, I was even told to not call them and that they would contact me with availability as and when slots opened up. That's not what I would expect of a driving school that needs to have a better system in place for these private drives, especially when they're already paid for. Moreover, the majority of their clients are high schoolers who they clearly know can't book driving sessions during school hours. I truly hope they can modify their scheduling and get a system that's more conducive to helping high schoolers book their private lessons more easily.

So now that he goes I guess I'm really confused how there is 5 stars for this driving academy. 1st on parents night the fella ripped on the parents the whole time. Not knowing us he pretty much told the kids not to listen to us parents when it comes to driving because it's been so long since we've been in drivers Ed..: then he turns and tells the kids respect your parents driving as they are the ones that have kept you in one piece . One dad was turning red in the face . Then the guy mentioned how there are a bunch of cameras in the cars and kids bad attitudes won't be accepted and they will have video... ok what about your driving instructors bad attitudes? Lord! The instructor my son had the first 2 days was new, unprepared, confusing, late and boring. I did ask for a new teacher as the reviews reflected that this school was different than others and a little more fun...a new teacher was assigned....thank you. As for the driving teachers you have a couple dudes there that are complete old jerks and make the kids feel on egg shells. I reported Dennis as my son was like OMG that guys the biggest jerk. One driver teacher boasted about making good money and working OT doing this, but he was an ass and gave a kid a panic attack. I made sure my son didn't have either of these men again. Kids are nervous enough and these guys just yelled. Why do they do this for a living is it just about money? So before you threaten the kids about being good in the car look at these teachers and how they are. I'm still puzzled on how this is a top driving school. Oh well. He's not going back .

The instructor then proceeded--despite the instruction to accelerate--to tell me to slow down. The instructor herself is very misleading, and not in the moment. She was emotionally devoid to a point of social sequestration. Furthermore, she also was quite irresponsible. She doesn't care about the wellbeing of her customers, and even went on to disrespect both me and my mother by managing problems with her other customers during our paid time. Where more irresponsibility took manifestation on her behalf was when she was very obscure about where to meet. When asking questions--because inevitably every customer would have to--she would indirectly refuse to answer. Ultimately, the customer is left in a state of obscurity just as the instructor.

Got in touch with Jennifer on Friday morning to see how quickly we could get my son in for his road…read moretest. Surprisingly they had a spot Sunday morning and were willing to get us in. Because I was traveling I was only able to communicate by text and she was professional and very thorough even though it was awkward. Showed up and met her in person and I must say that she was super nice for it being 6:45 am on Sunday morning. She let us know that we would be testing with her dad, Keith. No problem as I read the other reviews and felt we were in good hands. To my horror the gas light came on while we were waiting. I told Keith and he said they could stop and put in $5.00 with, just in case. Super nice and a great experience for my son to practice filling the car. Over the top customer service and accommodation for my ding bat mistake. I did not go with them on the test as I am a phantom break pedal stomper and make my son nervous. He reported that Keith was very patient and put him as much at ease as he could be. He said he was not gruff, grumpy,or bossy but offered helpful suggestions in a teaching way, not just barking out directions or criticism. As I was waiting at the school I observed Jennifer also being very supportive and excited for the people that were testing with her. I wish I had researched driving school companies more for his level 1 & 2 classes. I feel like these two would have made it a positive experience and it would not have taken over a year for my son to get the confidence to take the road test. If you have a nervous driver or somebody that tests badly I really think you will do well with Keith and Jennifer!

We used Alert Driving School for my daughter's drivers test. We knew families that had used this…read moretesting service and had good experiences with Keith and Andy as instructors. The person performing the test for my daughter was Dan (a Teenager which was a bit surprising) and was very unclear with his instructions to her.(and later to me.) The directions he gave to her and later myself in regard to how often you are allowed to readjust position during the parking portion were incredibly confusing and also misleading. He said several times that "the driver is allowed to pull forward as many times as they want, to readjust." And it wasn't until the third time he was explaining that I stopped and said you keep saying it's allowed, then why did she get points? He said "Oh you're allowed but you get points every time you do it." So he told her she was allowed to adjust as much as she wanted but did not make it clear she would be marked for each time. He also told her several times she could ask any questions she wanted and as many questions as she wanted but then said in response to her questions "The State doesn't allow me to answer that question."
