The interior is like stepping into the pages of a history book with flagstone floors and an open fire. I stayed in the Band B upstairs for a week. The rooms were spotless and the prices can't be beaten. I also found that Gleeson's bar is nearly always busy. If not, the local characters are only too willing to talk to you! Richie, the owner, is as friendly as you can find and Sandra and the rest of the staff are brilliant to deal with. Nothing is a hassle to them. I could not recommend Gleeson's highly enough, whether for a short break, as a sports bar or for the weekend music, which is top notch. One of my favourite pubs and I will be back to Clonmel and Gleeson's soon for another holiday.

Resigned to the decision to buy 7 packages of some cinnamon roll-ish type treat for dinner, we noticed a spot called Mrs. Ellie's where fish & chips are served. Starved & desperate, we decided that we definitely liked fish & chips. What saved us from eating in our car was a bartender named Kevin at this fab place. He was magical. He gave us ketchup. He didn't blink an eye when my friend told a bar full of Irish men that I hated Guinness. He let us hold his puppies & they traded belly scratches for face kisses. He tried not to wince too hard when I got tipsy off the local ale & spoke to him loudly & in a fast-paced country accent. Dare I say he treated us like... Princesses! Any & everyone needs to stop & have a pint with Kevin!
