Gleeson's Bar is an old-world gem tucked away in the heart of Clonmel. I found the atmosphere to be warm and welcoming and the staff were brilliant- chatty, efficient and a mine of information as to what's going on in Clonmel. The interior is like stepping into the pages of a history book with flagstone floors and an open fire. I stayed in the Band B upstairs for a week. The rooms were spotless and the prices can't be beaten. I also found that Gleeson's bar is nearly always busy. If not, the local characters are only too willing to talk to you! Richie, the owner, is as friendly as you can find and Sandra and the rest of the staff are brilliant to deal with. Nothing is a hassle to them. I could not recommend Gleeson's highly enough, whether for a short break, as a sports bar or for the weekend music, which is top notch. One of my favourite pubs and I will be back to Clonmel and Gleeson's soon for another holiday. read more
