At SIX WEEKS after the break they then recommended I see a doc for surgery. REALLY??? I gave up on them and ended up going to another Orthopeadic who got me in next day, and operated within 4 days to correct the problem. I wouldn't recommend Front Range to my worst enemy. It's not the doctors who are the problem, its the front desk. They simply don't have it together and act like a shield between the doc's and the patients. Just getting an appointment is an act of congress and they will keep pushing you out week after week until broken bones heal incorrectly. To add insult to injury, when I skipped my last appointment (because I went to another orthopedic office), they didn't even give a call to follow up. I guess they are fine with someone under their care running around with a bone - healing out of alignment - and in constant pain. Be aware going to Front Range, that you are just a number and just another whiner in pain. I'd avoid this place at all cost.

I was referred to Brad Drescher and as luck would have it, I got in during the same week that I called. My first impression of Brad was one of the most compassionate docs I had ever met, and one who explained the least invasive therapy all the way thru to Surgery. I of course, took the least invasive route to start. I'm a commercial real estate broker and travel back and forth between Colorado Springs and Denver several times a week. I found that I was in so much pain after driving for even 30 minutes, I could barely walk when I got out of car - I knew I had to get the surgery. What I liked is that he told me everything that was going to happen during the surgery and during my recovery. Recovery went exactly as he said it would and today my knee is great. I met numerous times during recovery with Robert Valdez, PA who took care of me like I was his only patient! Somehow in the fall of 2018 - I hurt my left foot. Because I live in Denver, I saw an Ortho here in town. He said I had dislocated the bones in left foot and it would require extensive surgery. I decided to get a second opinion, and since I trusted Brad, and was existing patient, they took me in quickly and gave the exact same diagnosis. Dislocated toes! Due to the fact that I had such a good experience with my knee, I again saw Brad, and without much ado, the surgery was scheduled and completed. I was on crutches for six weeks, then into walking boot, then lighter boot. During the recovery, I again saw Robert Valdez, as well as Brad. The team that Brad has assembled, including Sue his nurse, is Steller! Service and compassion; that is their business and they are great at it. By the way I'm 75 years young and still going strong thanks to Brad Drescher.

The bathroom was clean. Dr. Howarth came in and went over the surgery details and answered questions about the procedure... he mentioned the spinal tap to prepare me for the surgery and now I'm ready to grab my bag and hit the nearest exit... The anesthesiologist Dr. Ervin came in and talked with me more in depth about the spinal tap and the reason Dr. Howarth prefers it. I understood and I get it butttttttt, the thought was still like nope Kenn get the car.. all joke aside. I am just "THANKFUL & GRATEFUL" that I can get this hip taken care of... They wheeled me to the operating room to get me ready and everyone was in good spirits and ready to get started. Thanks to my nurse that was in the operating room with me. My apologies that I forgot your name . I really appreciated the support you gave me durning that time. I was having a moment and bad flashback of when I got an epidural 12/1993. So "THANK YOU" for allowing me to cry it out but, also for comforting me at the same time. Mrs. Jenny was my nurse I. Recovery and she took really good care of me until it was time to go to my room. She was prompt, nice and sweet. She had the most gorgeous smile and tried everything to make me really comfortable. My leg was still numb but, my calf muscle felt like I had a Charlie horse unit and I could not function so the tears would just flow. I couldn't get up so.. Mrs. Jennifer was great and super caring. She made sure I was very comfortable and well taken care of. I didn't feel rushed or stressed about anything. She made sure you got me a fan because I was burning up. Mrs.Debby was simply amazing, very supportive and kind. She made sure that I had everything I need to be as comfortable as possible. Me. Nolan came thru around 2 something and did PT with me. Mrs. Abby in PT came by and did some exercises with me and some stretches that I oiled do daily for a few days and then increasing to 3. She was patient and through with all the instructions. Mrs. Jenna in OT came by and helped me shower, change out my compression stocking, bandage and get dress. She was very cool, funny and friendly. Mrs. Faith the Chaplin and by to pray with us. So we're we'd on the same page of the hand Dr. Reinhart came and checked me to make sure I can be discharged. He was nice and polite. He checked me out and gave the thumbs up. Stupidly I assumed the care would also be just as wonderful. That's where anything remotely positive ended. I was admitted for having SI. I am a vet and my a family member recently committed suicide. They made me feel that I was an inconvenience, even though they had nearly no other patients in the ER. I once asked for medication I was already prescribed for my anxiety that works and they scoffed at that notion. It would have been a huge help to me. Mind you I was very respectful and appreciative of them doing their job, I never raised my voice and never combative. After inquiring into medication I take already and with a provable history of taking it, they said they'd look into it. After trying to rest realizing I could not have my normal medication I surrendered and attempted to rest next thing I know I am startled as a nurse quickly and suddenly stats to inject some medication into my arm, surprised, I asked what they are giving me. To my horror, once she extremely quickly completely finished administering the medication via IV she informs me with a smirk it's HALADOL! I've never felt so uncomfortable in my life. I've never ever even been considered for any type of psychosis in my life, let alone diagnosed. But then for in no interest of me the patient I was given an extremely potent anti antipsychotic, one of the strongest. My body was fighting this incredibly torturous feeling for HOURS. They didn't want to listen to me during my anxiety ridden highly depressed SI episode. Not that I even barely talked. Rather they wanted to shut me up. This incident prevented me from seeking help several instances in the future from trauma of this medication and medical treatment. This made me fearful of ever returning to any hospital specifically a St. Francis facility, when I a veteran going through extremely difficult times. When I again found myself in major SI depression, I thought about ending my life instead and nearly did. I nearly made a formal complaint, and after speaking with friends who work in the medical field, specifically an emergency room, they were surprised but believe they were in fact being vindictive for being made to do their job. Needless to say my entire family and friends will never again return to any St Francis facility and will always go to a UC health facility. Which someone thank god recommended after I shared my story of St Francis, so I did attend a UC health facility recently. I was hesitant but beautifully surprised because at UC Memorial they were kind, respectful, genuine, and professional. I thought about filing a complaint formally against St Francis for administering a totally inappropriate medication without my consent, but I fear retribution from the staff who may be upset If I was ever in a position to have to return for some reason. If being totally compliant and restful ending in me being given a totally inappropriate drug I can't fathom what they'd do if I made a complaint. At St Francis they treated me vindictively, with entirely egregious medication to "shut me up" not in me the patient's interest but their own because I dared interrupt their chit chat for things like a cup of water. They even giggled over their weekends and any random topic you can imagine feet away while I regretted ever reaching out for help. Having never taken this hell of a drug I began to feel sedated but extremely uncomfortable and wished it to be over as it started to take effect. I couldn't sleep but I couldn't return to lucidity either. This feeling of being half sedated and my body trying to fight this medication is a pain and horror I won't ever forget. Keep in mind I can tolerate a lot from the army. All while even if I tried to rest, I was unable to, mostly from this horrible medication and some due to the staff as they joked about their plans and the weather. I guess I interrupted them. I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone even my worst enemy, particularly in my depressed anxious isolated state. While I thought about it, I cannot fathom what they would do if they found out I filed a complaint and I had to for whatever reason return so out of fear I decided not to. Absolute worst nightmare of a medical experience I've ever had when I was already in one of my lowest points in my life. They have lost a ton of business due to this of my entire family and friends who will never return. I think St Francis does not understand the words empathy, professionalism, or consent. I recommend UC health over St Francis for anyone as a patient. Please I beg of you to let me be the lesson of why not to go to any of St Francis facilities so you don't have to experience that hell.
