The Paley institute is amazing to all that walk thru their doors. I'm blessed to have found him. The staff make you feel so special and you can see the Love there for all their patients. I wrote my original review in May 2024 after nearly two years of treatment with Dr. Chien, and I…read morestill stand by everything I said. I recently saw a negative review, and while I respect that everyone's experience is their own, what was described there is very different from what I personally experienced over a long period of care. Dr. Chien is a very sought‑after practitioner, and because of that he is busy with many patients. That has always been normal in his clinic. Bruising can happen with acupuncture, even with excellent technique, and patients generally cannot know whether a needle "missed" a point. As for herbs, Dr. Chien provides custom herbal formulas based on each patient's specific needs, and in traditional Chinese medicine these do not come with Western‑style ingredient labels -- that is standard practice. I'm not here to dismiss anyone's feelings, but I do want readers to know that the negative review paints a picture that does not match the care I received. My long‑term experience with Dr. Chien was consistently positive, transparent, and effective, and I hope this helps provide a fuller and more balanced perspective.

I don't typically leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share the experience I wish I had…read moreknown about before deciding to work with Dr. Chien. My biggest concern was the lack of transparency during the initial consultation. At no point was I informed that, in addition to the acupuncture sessions, I would be expected to purchase herbal tablets. It wasn't until after I had already paid $700 for a package of 10 sessions that Dr. Chien told me the tablets were necessary for treatment, at an additional cost of $150 per week for an unspecified period of time. I purchased the tablets once, but they were provided without any labeling or information about their ingredients. I ultimately had to email Dr. Chien afterward just to find out what I had been given. During my last two acupuncture sessions, the needles missed the intended acupuncture points, leaving me with significant bruising. In addition, Dr. Chien is always in such a hurry treating multiple patients at the same time, it made each appointment feel rushed and left very little opportunity to ask questions or discuss my treatment. Greater transparency about treatment costs and recommendations from the beginning, along with more individualized attention during appointments, would have made for a much better patient experience.

To be fair this is the only acupuncture experience I've ever had. The entire staff is so friendly…read moreand willing to talk about things with you, take their time and give you a real understanding. I wanted to wait to write the review until I had long term results. I'm going to start with Rebecca who is just so very open, I talked to her like my doctor and I don't live like a saint... She was never judgmental. We did some Raiki and before she would move to something "more" she would always tell you what was coming and she made sure that I'd you got uncomfortable she would stop. She even had some things she wanted me to take and when I said no she didn't push or try to sell me anything. I did buy the relax wanderer tea though and that was probably the most useful sleeping aid I've ever used! Tastes a little interesting but not bad and very relaxing without any real mental or physical effects. Rebecca also has the lightest touch, she's human and it wasn't all perfect but I would say I didn't even feel 95% of the needles she used. Long term results I tried This because I couldn't even get up and go to work most mornings. I had become very negative and as previously mentioned I may have had some toxins built up in my body. I had a great life and I just couldn't appreciate it. I did something like 10 sessions over 3 weeks she did something different every time. Changing needle placements, she would even nootice when I came in amped up or strressed out or relaxed and adjust for that. She even explained the reasons when I asked, we did fire cupping which was amazing. The most memorable part though was she knew that I had a road rage issue and in my last appointment she put some things in some points in my ears and covered them with tape she said to leave them there for a couple days. One of those points was my "road rage" point. She told me to squeeze it now and again because I was dRiving to Texas the day after. I wore that one longer than I was supposed to but in 6 months I'm back in the gym regularly, I smile at work all day everyday. I wake up and choose to have a good day and I have had 2 minor incidents on the road but nothing like before. This was an amazing experience and I will do it for the rest of my life
