Amazing outdoor fitness program. A good mixture of hard work and fun. Show up regularly and try your best and you'll get results.

I got to try this the first time when my friend was subbing, and she totally kicked my butt. The class was a great workout on a Sunday morning and left me sore for honestly 3 days. She kicked my butt in that class. The second time, I took it with Christy. She was a such a fun and awesome instructor, really enjoyed her a lot! I think with my prior training and cardio workouts got me to keep up with her class and not stay sore for too long! (Thanks Alyssa for the heads up on these classes haha). I love how cute the studio is. Very clean and simple. The decor is small and adorable for the studio and provides pretty much everything that you need. Only need to bring your own towel and water bottle and you're good to go! If I'm actually in RVA during the weekends, you bet your butt I'll be taking a morning class again here!

I would recommend the Groupon because you'll definitely want to go more than once! I had my first class with Christy, the owner, and already have my next two scheduled. The classes are small which is nice after the year we've had and it allows for one on one assistance from the instructor. After a fairly lazy pregnancy and recovery I needed and appreciated the extra instruction! With that being said I was nervous for my first class but Christy made it easy to modify the steps. I was still covered in sweat and burned 500 calories before I left. As a new client I felt super welcome and can't wait to go back!

Normally I am greeted warmly by a wonderful staff member, but today an unfamiliar staff member named Jake approached me in a manner that was deeply unsettling. As soon as I walked in, he fixed me with a harsh, almost hostile look. He then rushed over to me and abruptly asked, "What gym do you usually go to?" His body language and the way he looked me up and down were aggressive and inappropriate, leaving me feeling highly uncomfortable, unwelcome, and singled out. What made the situation even more distressing was that just moments later, two other individuals walked past him and he made no effort to stop or question them. It was very clear that I was treated differently, and I cannot help but believe this was because of my skin color. This encounter was not only unprofessional but extremely disturbing. It made me feel discriminated against and as though I was not wanted in a place where I had every right to be, especially considering that I could have easily paid for entry that day. I am bringing this to your immediate attention because no member, guest, or visitor should ever feel targeted or harassed in this way. I recommend ANY other Golds gym in the area!!!

I honestly can't imagine why anyone would give this less than 5 stars. This was a very good gym when I came to it in high school 20 years ago. It has improved and evolved since then with the really nice lifting platforms. As someone who uses a powerlifting gym, this is pretty accommodating for someone who typically doesn't use globo gyms. You can get everything you need to a variety of strength and cardio equipment.

Here's my impression after the first week: Signing up for membership was challenging. The price we were quoted over the phone was different than what we were told when we showed up to join. And actually we had an appointment with the membership director and he was on vacation and everyone from membership was gone so one of the front desk attendants gave us a tour. They also gave us a pass to the weekend to make up for the debacle. When we showed up on Saturday we met with someone in membership and that's when the pricing changed because what we were quoted only covered 3 people. So we paid extra for the fourth and our fifth couldn't join because the cost of their membership was too high and she is a student (my daughter). She is 26 so that's why she has to have her own membership. I get it. Also the hot tub and rooftop pool is extra, so be aware. They also have a Recovery area that includes infrared saunas and cold plunge, plus a variety of other equipment. That's an extra charge too, but the first month is free so you can check it out. Other than that miscommunication, it's been pretty seamless. Every staff member I've encountered has been professional and super helpful. Kudos to the center for hiring great people. Any kind of exercise you could possibly want to do is under the roof of acac or at one of their other facilities. The classes and yoga studio is top notch. I've done a few classes and also yoga, signed up for the egym and have used the hot tub, sauna, plunge, etc., and it's all been good. It's only a week in and I feel right at home and motivated to work out every day. I still have so much more to try! I love that I can do something different everyday so I don't get bored. Joining acac costs more but so far it's worth it for us.

It all started with the day after I became a member, I had an appointment to get my free health/ body analysis. But when I showed up, the trainer was too busy to do it. So I rescheduled it a few days later and the he never show up. Wtf... At that point, I didn't care about it anymore. Fast forward to 2017 and my locker was broken into at about 10pm. Luckily, I didn't have any money in it, but my car keys were missing. So not only did I have to get my car towed to Midlothian, but then I had to pay $300 for a new fob. There is a sign in the locker room that says not responsible for lost or stolen items. And I understand that, but when I told them what happened, all they did was offer me something from the cafe and issue me a new keychain card. When I talked to the guy at the front desk about my locker, he did say he saw someone rush out with a suspicious long bar, but he didn't get a good look at him. So when I asked about the video camera at the locker room entrance, that was also no help at all. Lastly, when I asked if they could catch the guy if he tried using my old keychain card, they told me there was no way to tell when that particular card gets used. Smh... At that point, I called it quits. The whole situation was just very disappointing... Another annoying thing is that no matter what day or time I go to this gym, even if it's the middle of the summer, most of the ceiling fans are off or on the low setting. Smh... If I want to sweat that bad, I'd prefer to go in the sauna... As I said in my previous reviews, I do like this gym. And if you can get past all the wannabes taking pics of themselves, video chatting, and the million other annoying and inconsiderate things they do that can be pretty distracting during a workout, this place would be pretty awesome. This place has pretty much everything that anyone could ask for in a gym. Yes, the price is a little higher than most other gyms, but you pretty much get what you pay for...

However I can't really get with a gym who uses their managers to spy on patrons under the guise of working out in their off hours. I film my workouts for form and as I was filming an otherwise anonymous gym goer identified herself by name as Valerie as "one of the managers here" and informed me I couldnt film while other people were on the floor. Reason being some people may not want to be filmed. Fine reasoning although with the signage on the door saying only people 18 and older are allowed in the gym it's crazy to me that this person chose to speak for other grownups. I get it, policies are there and they apply to everyone. Doesn't make it any less ridiculous and that "manager" is unprofessional. First and last time at this location for sure.
