As a family advocate, I have received multiple concerns from this school within the last 6 1/2 years from former families. It's sad to see that a lot of students have left this school due to a lack of support and safety in this school. I've heard horrible things such as, staff bruising/injuring students and slamming them while performing a "hold".
This school has also been reported to neglect students of their medical needs. I've been told by families that their student could've passed away due to the ignorance and negligence of this school.
According to the families, there have been incidents of abuse and violence towards their child either from another student or from a staff member. Within these last 6 1/2 years, there have been statements from families stating that there is gender-favoritism in this school. It may even hint at inappropriate teacher-student relations.
According to students and families, there has been therapeutic neglect of several students.
I am keeping in mind that this is a, or is supposed to be a "Therapeutic" Day School, but I would like to mention disturbing behaviors that were listed by countless students and families that put the students in harm's way.
It has been reported that the staff holds favoritism for students who have very poor behaviors including:
- Physically and Sexually assaulting students/people in general
- Bullying Students and Staff in every way possible
- Threatening students and staff
- Telling students to "kill themselves" in and out of school
- Incredibly disrespectful towards peers and staff
- Taunting behaviors toward students and staff
- Low grades and school effort
- Distracting behaviors in the classroom that cause major problems for the class and the school
- Regular police involvement and/or current court cases
- Bringing in paraphernalia such as Lighters, knives, vapes, weed cartridges, cell phones (which are prohibited in this school), and even threatening students/staff to hurt them with it.
- Threatening to shoot up the school and set it on fire FYI: None of these behaviors or words were taken seriously by school staff.
The staff has threatened and presented taunting behaviors toward students saying things such as,
"I'll do something to you."
This is NOT appropriate behavior and conduct coming from this school. There is no telling how much emotional and physical damage has been done to these students, but there is one thing for sure, they will be healing for a very long time because of this. They now have to cope with the fact they didn't have proper education and support while they were in this school. And now, they have to live with the damage caused by this school. When will the abuse and lack of support in all schools end? Private behavioral schools should be investigated much more often because incidents like this happen to students all the time. As a parent and passionate family advocate myself, I am deeply saddened and disgusted to know that our kids in our communities are being treated so cruelly like this. It's even more hurtful to know that a lot of them could and very much still are suffering in silence to this day.
This is purely unethical. It is neglect and it is Illegal. It has been reported that the staff encourages the poor behaviors of the ones who they favor. It has been reported that the students who have committed illegal acts and presented horrible behaviors were NOT disciplined in any form and the staff encourages them to keep going with their poor actions! I have received statements from families of students who were unfairly punished for things that either weren't their fault/had nothing to do with them or they had very little action in it. These students need help and it's not being given to them or it is being given In a deceitful way that just ends up hurting them. It's heartbreaking and disgusting to know that these "Professionals" are acting this way. This school gets 0/5 from not only me but from a large group of victims. This is not okay by any means.
Parents, please DO NOT EVER send your children to this school. They are deceitful in their first impressions. This school will most likely end up doing more harm than good for your student (unless your child could be favored, but even then, you won't see much improvement in their behaviors because it's being supported by the staff).
Please consider your options.
