The DGH has had a lot of bad press lately what with movement of maternity wards and MRSA but I was…read morerushed by ambulance there the other night for an emergency hernia operation and I found nothing but good stuff. I was seen in A+E very quickly, immediately sent up to the Surgical Assessment Unit as soon as a diagnosis was arrived at, operated and back home in less than 24 hours. All the doctors were very courteous and helpful and the nurses were always on hand.

Pretty good all round really. Staff are overworked and underpaid, as in most NHS hospitals but many…read moreof them seem to genuinely enjoy and take pride in their work. The speed of discharges has vastly improved within the last couple of years - if they tell you you can go home in the morning, then you are usually good to go, prescriptions and all within a couple of hours. Food leaves an awful lot to be desired, but then who ever really fancies eating when in hospital?! There is a cafe, staff restaraunt (which patients may use) and a shop, plus various vending machines. A&E is a bit hit and miss with waiting times - can appear empty yet you wait several hours, but also can appear absolutely packed and you'll be seen within the hour. On the whole the entire hospital does the job it's supposed to, and usually with a smile! One word of warning - take change for parking with you. If you don't you are likely to pay a far higher price with a ticket and there really is very limited, if any off site parking in the surrounding area.

I have been at this surgery for about 15 yrs now..I have seen some amazing DR's retire, but the…read moresurgery still has some amazing DR's and nurses there, Most are kind and compassionate, but due to the amount of patients registered here, it can be very difficult to get an appointment when you need one, I really only like to see one particular DR, but find that at time's...it is very difficult to get one with him,I do think that these DR's are over worked and it won't be long before something bad happens. They need more GP's there, or to stop taking on new patients. The receptionists can be blunt at time's too, but i suppose everyone is entitled to have a bad day.....apart from this, i am very happy with my DR's.

I used to be registered with this surgery until a few years ago when I moved away from Brighton…read more After returning here I registered with a another surgery because I was told that I lived outside the catchment area of the Park Crescent Surgery. I was not happy with the treatment (probably because the doctor was not trained to deal with the kind of issues I came there for) and found out that I could register with a surgery outside my area if I found that they were more sympathetic. I was very happy as I found out that the Park Crescent Surgery accepted new patients and were happy to re-register me there, even if it is a longer walk for me. The staff are always friendly and it is easy to tell that they enjoy their job (other than some pretty sour or 'pretend-friendly' receptionists which I have encountered at other surgeries). Most of my praise has to go to Dr. Lipscombe though, who not only always has an open ear for all my issues, but is also the most friendly GP whom I have ever come across and she always spares some compliments which brighten up my otherwise often grim days. She is a strong supporter of transgender rights and an expert in that field so I can't recommend her enough to anyone with gender issues, although I am not sure whether she is taking new patients as she now only works Mondays and Wednesdays. However I have also found the other doctors at this surgery to be very competent so it is worth registering there anyway (and don't forget that the staff are incredibly firendly too - it does make a huge difference!).

I write to say thank you for the firstclass treatment I received at Estuary View on Sunday…read moreafternoon. I had fallen flat on my face and a friend took me to Estuary View Medical Centre. The Reception Staff were welcoming and very efficient. The Triage Nurse, who I saw within minutes of my arrival, was also very efficient and kind. The Nurse who dealt with me after a wait of only an hour was superb. She was calm, patient, thorough, totally professional, delightful and in whom I had complete confidence. All absolutely brilliant. Many, many thanks. Wendy Conway

It is situated just outside of Whitstable and is easily accessible from the dual carriageway or the centre of town. It is well signposted and is open from 8am - 8pm seven days a week. Me and my partner were recommended to visit this centre following advice from an out of hours surgery phoneline. On arrival it was clear that Estuary View has had a lot of money invested in it's construction. It is in attractive building with adequate parking and easy transport links. It is staffed by Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Healthcare assistants who are able to offer limited treatment to patients. As this is a minor injury unit they do not operate at the same level as an A&E department. However they do have the ability to conduct X-Rays. They can also refer you to a doctor at a local hospital (Margate A&E). My partners problem was not able to be treated at this centre but the nurses contacted the specific department in A&E and essentially saved us a long wait as the doctors knew we were coming. I believe that if more money was invested in facilities and staff rather than appearance the centre would most likely take more stress off hospitals than it currently does. Although my partner was not treated there she commented on how polite the staff were and how quickly her issue was dealt with.
