I have been at this surgery for about 15 yrs now..I have seen some amazing DR's retire, but the…read moresurgery still has some amazing DR's and nurses there, Most are kind and compassionate, but due to the amount of patients registered here, it can be very difficult to get an appointment when you need one, I really only like to see one particular DR, but find that at time's...it is very difficult to get one with him,I do think that these DR's are over worked and it won't be long before something bad happens. They need more GP's there, or to stop taking on new patients. The receptionists can be blunt at time's too, but i suppose everyone is entitled to have a bad day.....apart from this, i am very happy with my DR's.

I used to be registered with this surgery until a few years ago when I moved away from Brighton…read more After returning here I registered with a another surgery because I was told that I lived outside the catchment area of the Park Crescent Surgery. I was not happy with the treatment (probably because the doctor was not trained to deal with the kind of issues I came there for) and found out that I could register with a surgery outside my area if I found that they were more sympathetic. I was very happy as I found out that the Park Crescent Surgery accepted new patients and were happy to re-register me there, even if it is a longer walk for me. The staff are always friendly and it is easy to tell that they enjoy their job (other than some pretty sour or 'pretend-friendly' receptionists which I have encountered at other surgeries). Most of my praise has to go to Dr. Lipscombe though, who not only always has an open ear for all my issues, but is also the most friendly GP whom I have ever come across and she always spares some compliments which brighten up my otherwise often grim days. She is a strong supporter of transgender rights and an expert in that field so I can't recommend her enough to anyone with gender issues, although I am not sure whether she is taking new patients as she now only works Mondays and Wednesdays. However I have also found the other doctors at this surgery to be very competent so it is worth registering there anyway (and don't forget that the staff are incredibly firendly too - it does make a huge difference!).

Until recently I visited the doctors maybe once every three years. I don't know what's happened to…read moreme recently, but in my boyfriend's words, I seem to be 'permanently broken'! As I have visited the campus Health Centre at least once a week for the past couple of months, I feel I am in a perfect position to be reviewing their services! What can I say? The waiting room is nothing special...white plastic garden furniture isn't exactly the height of comfort and whilst I'm not normally one to comment on waiting room furnishings, the wait in this surgery can be long, so naturally, one begins to look around. In fact its a great place for people watching! This is an extremely busy place- it services many students as well as staff and faculty of the university. The staff are all lovely (except for one woman who is unfailingly rude) but they do tend to overrun quite seriously- I have at times, waited 45 minutes beyond my appointment time. I guess this is probably okay if you're a first year student with limited obligations (lets be honest!) but as a member of staff, I feel a bit guilty about popping off for over an hour just to pick up a prescription! That said, the benefit of appointments overrunning is that the staff really take their time with you- I have never been rushed out and have always been given the opportunity to discuss multiple issues- they'll give you as much time as you need. For this reason I'm giving four stars- because caring, professional staff who take a genuine interest in your health is what a doctors surgery should be all about! One star off for uncomfy plastic chairs.

Getting a GP at this health centre is a must if you're planning on living on Sussex University's…read morecampus for any long period of time. The staff are really friendly and there're loads of experienced nurses on hand to deal with your typical student dramas - they are particularly trained in areas like sexual health for example. The service is a bit slow as they run morning drop ins, which most people attend instead of booked appointments. Further to that, you'll see a nurse first who'll decide whether your problem merits needing to see a doctor. This is very annoying when you know it does, and means waiting twice, even if you have pre-booked your appointment with a doctor. That's my only qualm with the place though - the nurses are all really well-trained, warm and helpful.
