They serve a variety of Puerto Rican food with a hawaiian twist. I decided to have the steak, shrimp and laulau. It also comes with gandule rice and macaroni salad. The flavors are fire. Steak is a nice medium rare which is to my personal preference and the shrimp is delicious with a creamy unique sauce. The ratio of pork, fat and greens in the luau is so well balanced. As for the gandule rice, it is by far the best I have ever eaten. Every morsel is perfectly flavored. This is a special treat when you want to have a cheat day. This is truly one of the best places to eat on the island. Chef's kiss to Guudfellaz.

I don't think that's an unreasonable request with a new product. They may have been in business for two or three years out on the Westside, but it's new to someone from town. Other vendors at the marketplace had samples of their products to eat, so I didn't think I was being unreasonable. However the young woman told me that, 'We don't have samples. Just like McDonald's you don't get to sample their food.' Her Voice sounded slightly irritated, as well. There were four other people in the booth so I felt a little bit ashamed, and the pressure was on, so I spent the five dollars for the Palmer strawberry lemonade. I'll be honest, if I had tasted it before hand, I wouldn't have bought it. It wasn't that good. I would rather have tasted the plain strawberry tea and I might have liked that better. If you want to be successful in business, be a little bit more flexible. Just sayin'. And that's why they get three stars for this review. Number one: please don't use an irritated tone when I make a simple request. Number two: you might want to let people sample your product.

Friendly greeting and welcoming vibes upon entrance into…read morethe store. I miss coming to this spot with family to get plate lunches when we lived down in waianae, but since we haven't been to this location in a while we finally made the attempt yesterday from Kapolei to come down to Maili. I'm happy we did because the pastele plates we got was 1/1 mild and spicy with Mac salad and 2 scoop rice. The meat was tender and savory giving you the correct amount of flavor with seasoning and balance. You can tell they put the heart into making these. Although there are many variations to Pasteles this one is my favorite. The Mac salad is good also better than other places I've tried. The opihi I also brought and added my own sauce to it with and enjoyed it with their Hawaiian Style (Inamona) poke on the side. My only recommendation is the panadeja was more of a pulled pork look and of course that's what it is but I was looking for more of a stew consistency of which it was not. Now don't get me wrong the flavor wasn't lacking and was juicy but it was just shredded pork inside and you can see couple of black olives that's it. I will still purchase them but a slight upgrade would be nice to those, just my opinion.

Always looking to sample local cuisine we happened upon 808_Puffs when we were exploring Waianae. Too early for lunch, we decided to get some puffs to take back to the hotel. They sat untouched in their box for exactly 2.3 miles or 10 minutes. Precisely the amount of time it took to find a place to park where they were promptly devoured. With gusto and sincere pleasure. We bought four with the intent to share. Unfortunately we forgot utensils and it's incredibly hard to split a puff with fingers, so I can't provide firsthand feedback on the Dubai puff or the chocolate bar puff. I can tell you they were gone in a flash and no one offered to give me a bite. The ube puff was delicious and crammed full of ube goodness and that the chantilly puff topped with chocolate was divine and though I didn't mean it, I did offer my husband a bite of both. The storefront is small. There might have been a table or two in the front, but there was a very hyper child up there, so we stayed close to the register waiting for our order. They also have hot food and a selection of poke which looked fresh, but poke's not my thing so... Their prices were reasonable, the store was clean and service was quick at 10 am.
