3 of our 4 babies.

The staff is great. The service is great. We had a crappy vet before this place. They really care. They even let me in to pick up my cat after his surgery, even though they were having a meeting. A sign of a well run vet clinic is the type of place that makes sure they have meetings. We have 4 cats. Koala Bear needed some major dental work. We knew from experience with another cat that it would be expensive. It was still less than the other place. They really care about our pets here.

I have had pets for over 35 years and I have always took very good care of them. When I moved to Imperial Beach I needed a new vet I could TRUST. I asked around and a lot of people recommended Dr Dee at Seacoast veterinary. Well let me tell you!! Dr Dee is the most honest CARING vet I have ever had. She goes out of her way to help you in anyway she can. I will never take my dogs anywhere else. If your looking for a outstanding, caring honest Vet go see Dr Dee. I truly feel so blessed to have found her.

Expensive, but very good staff been there for two years already with my coca she had heart worms they had discovered. Eventually she was cured after a year of treatment, greatful for Dr Kara who is very caring. Also thankful for Brenda as well my coca trust both so I do to thanks again for everything!

6-8-21 a LOT worse, constantly watering and her whole face was swollen

This place seems all about the money grab! They would hurt my pet with unnecessary surgery just to get money. Never again. My nearly 13-year old cat, Taka, had a swollen/watery eye on 5/31/21. I didn't think it an emergency, and her regular vet's soonest appt was Thurs 6/10/21. On Tues 6/8/21 the swelling was far worse. I almost took her to emergency, but first called other vets and SEACOAST VETERINARY could see her the same day (yay!) I didn't like curbside drop-off but appreciated the same day appt. That day after the "exam", the doctor (I think Dr. Dee) came to me curbside and gave Taka a diagnosis of a probable "tooth abscess"; I was told Taka's teeth were "terrible" and at least two teeth needed extraction.  She gave me a $2,200 quote, a list of recommendations and urged me to make a surgery appt for that Fri (in 3 days). I authorized a rabies shot, an antibiotic shot and antibiotic oral drops; paid the $226.20 but DID NOT make the surgery appt, despite the doctor's warning to not wait as the antibiotic is temporary and the abscess would return. Thurs 6/10/21, Taka had the appt with her regular vet, SOUTH SAN DIEGO VETERINARY.  I was allowed into the enclosed exam room with Taka, the room got a disinfectant cleaning after each exam, and everyone was masked.  The vet tech Carol and Dr. McAndrew examined Taka and saw puncture wounds on her face and under the eyelid of her swollen eye.  They showed me the bite mark pattern that indicated Taka was probably bitten by another cat while in the backyard.  The wounds had scabbed over but the under eyelid trauma was still red.  They examined Taka's teeth and saw some tartar/gingivitis but said it wasn't "terrible".  Taka got a feline probiotic for diarrhea caused by the antibiotic, and I was charged $46.50.  Taka was back to normal in a few days. Now five months later she is healthy with no return of a "tooth abscess". If SEACOAST did a proper exam, how could Dr. Dee and their vet techs not see bite wounds on Taka's face and under her swollen eyelid?  SOUTH SAN DIEGO VETERINARY noticed the wounds immediately!  SEACOAST's exam was either poor-quality or an unethical money grab... pushing to place my cat under general anesthesia and needlessly extract two teeth!

They're not greedy like most vets I've been to. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Grunewald!! I can't say enough about her. I never thought I'd find a vet who I can turn to and truly trust. My baby was diagnosed with end stage kidney disease and was given two months max to live by an emergency vet hospital that was considered to be the best in San Diego because they were ran by UC Davis (which is the top university for vets). I decided to look into holistic healing and I was referred by a friend to this clinic. Thank GOD!! Dr. Grunewald was so determined to help my baby and was there for us along the way! She was able to give my baby another year before passing. It hurts my heart what he went through, but thanks to Dr. Grunewald I got to spend another year with him. In that year he was so happy you wouldn't be able to tell he was sick! I miss him so much!! I've been meaning to write this review because I needed to let as many people know how great these people are especially Dr. Grunewald! After my baby passed it became really hard to move forward. Writing this review though reminds me just how much Dr. Grunewald and the staff at this clinic gave us!! I will for sure continue to refer furbabies here and when I am ready for another I will not be looking any where else!! I can go on and on... hah thank you SSD for everything that you do!! Truly the only one of its kind!

A day before my appt I called (was on hold super long, eventually got hung up on by accident) and they couldn't find my appt. The gal helped me make one very quick over the phone though. Their website also says they are closed/no appts Sunday Monday & Tuesday, but they are open M & T. Anyway-- staff was great though the experience wasn't great before. Was on hold for a very long time when I called, but they were able to accommodate an appt switch once we did get in touch. Nice front desk guy, vet and vet tech were all very sweet- quickly booked next appt, called us for any issues with our pet and finished everything promptly. I believe the audio was being recorded on an iPad (it's no problem), but no permission was asked beforehand, which is strange since other vets do. In conclusion-- this is a business you HAVE to call to get help, would totally recommend in person service once you are there, would return if needed.

This is review is for my conversations with the staff and the owner , not for services rendered…read more I have a dog that needed to be seen by a vet and I knew it would probably be an expensive visit based on what I thought was happening. So I started to research vets in TJ , Mexico because I've heard about some other pet parents traveling down there for more affordable pet care. After researching quite a few , I contacted Vet Playas because based on Yelp they seemed to be at the top of their game compared to all others in that area. They also were open over the weekend and others were not based upon the hours provided. I was contacted by Ron , who I believe is the owner. He let me know that a front desk person would be contacting me shortly. I was contacted via Whats App by the front desk staff and they gave me pricing on all the procedures I'd asked about. The exam is a little less than what the states charge, however all the other procedures were much less expensive than having them done stateside. Ron texted me & then we spoke for a good amount of time going over what might be the issue with my dog and the various procedures that may have to be done to diagnose. He also gave me pricing for all of those things. He was very patient, informative, and not pushy. Thankfully my dog's original issue was resolved so I didn't end up using Vet Playas services. However, I would definitely consider them if I need vet services again based upon my conversation with Ron. I suggest to those that do not speak Spanish well, use a translator when speaking to the other staff so there are no miscommunications. Google has a translator you can enter text in whatever your language is to translate into Spanish and vice versa.

Now I understand why their prices aren't listed. My 13 yr old chihuahua has some bumps and a big mass around her neck. I went in for a check up, at 13 years old I understand her health isn't the best. I made the appt for last wed March 4th. Wait time was normal about 15-20 mins. Th vet was with us maybe 10 mins, the surprising thing is in those 10 mins she took maybe 10-15 coming up with the bill of $16k pesos. The office spent more time calculating the optional services than actually telling me anything that could give my doggie comfort or even suggest anything outside of the ridiculous quote. I truly believe my biggest mistake was telling them I was coming in from Pasadena in case I was a bit late. Outside of the exam which they say was an oncology exam, they did absolutely nothing other than charging me $1000 pesos. Regular exam is between $300-$450 pesos, they also did grooming for $700. That seemed reasonable, even the grooming they did alot more than the Vet did just measuring her lump and rushing to give me the price. The moment I said I didn't want to do the 7-8 different exams the Vet quoted me on because of her age and honestly the cost, she lost interest and pretty much walked out. I thanked them and told myself never to return and will also pass that experience to anyone who asks.

They were busy, but not busy enough to show extreme compassion for mowgli and myself--they gave him pets and quickly diagnosed him with an infection. On the day of our appointment I was greeted by Shu the vet tech and she was also friendly and really sweet to Cedric and I. I like when my fur baby is treated like family because he is family to me. Next we met with Dr Castaneda. I was yet again pleased with his attention to my concerns and very informative on what Cedric needed to get him in the best health.
