I had to walk the "walkway bridge" to get to the station. The elevator was out of service. There was only 1 escalator that went up. So, if you are disabled, you can't get down into the station from the walkway. This place needs a SERIOUS OVERHAUL. Demolish it and start over!! Just like with all of the new build that surrounds this place, and hides how absolute disgusting it is! Seats to wait at, are old. Floors are dirty. Bathroom was ATROCIOUS! Hand dryers are made for little kids, and you will have to bend down low just to use. There was no soap to even use. Only 1 bathroom sink worked. There was about 1 foot left on the toilet paper roll on the stall that I used. Amtrak signs to signify departures/arrival information is up so high, that you can't even see the board fully if you're in the waiting area Also non of the "automated doors" worked. NONE. Cant imagine what this is like for those disabled, in wheelchairs etc. There is still a little cafe inside, and vending machines. The Amtrak waiting area in New Carrollton can only be described as dilapidated and shabby. From the…read morerusted chairs, peeling and broken flooring,, rundown bathroom and food counter, and poor customer service I'm usually arriving right before boarding or leaving immediately upon arrival so I haven't had to sit in the waiting area in some time. Unfortunately this time I had to wait for my Uber and I can't believe with the high fare costs Amtrak has let this location deteriorate to this degree. Every single row of chairs had cushions in poor condition and were completely rusted. The brick floor is crumbling with broken pieces of brick tile strewn about. The food counter looks dingy and old with several broken pieces of wood veneer leaned up or lying on the floor. The bathroom is what initially made me really take a closer look at the station as a whole. The 'men's' restroom is available for customer use...had it not been an emergency I'd have waited until I reached home. I asked the Amtrak agent at the counter if a restroom was available and she told me it was for customers only. I told her I had just gotten off the train from NYC and she requested to see my ticket. I scrolled through my emails to find the ticket and held my phone up against the window. She was beyond rude in her tone and affect towards me. 'Make it bigger I can't see. Bigger, now scroll over' she finally got up to buzz me into the bathroom, which took a few tries, but I was finally able to open the door. No one should have to use a bathroom in this condition. The state of the restroom is what horror films are made of. If you think this is hyperbole or an over exaggeration just look at the photos (taken earlier this morning) and see if you agree. With all the money customers are paying to use Amtrak it's beyond disrespect that any waiting room is in this condition. I didn't think anything could be worse than Port Authority in NY, but this takes the cake

This isn't Grand Central Terminal, but it's got a ticket machine and some shelters, which are all pretty clean. Trains come by towards Baltimore and towards Washington every hour, and every 20 minutes or so during peak times. Great spot for railfanning due to the view of trains coming up the grade from the south as well as trains rounding the curve up north. Amtrak services fly past at 125 MPH (You can only get on MARC trains here).

Over the last year, there have been some challenges getting to the station due to the purple line construction. Not sure when that'll be completed but lately it hasn't been too bad! I'm so glad they recently brought back the yellow line. If you miss a green line train, a yellow one comes right after! There's still occasional delays but no overall complaints. The employees at this station are super helpful. I'm late to the game but I finally downloaded the smart trip app and use it to enter the station. No need for a physical card.

However, this place is a mess with the never ending, ongoing construction of the Purple Line. I do not know how many times I have missed my connection because you have to travel their rat maze to get to and from the station. I mean, I have literally just missed my bus each and every time I have gotten off of the train. Pros for this place is that they have a parking garage. Bike parking is available as well. Connection with buses, Metro and PG, and with MARC. I really do enjoy this station, if only they can finish at least a bit of the construction to allow for better flow of foot traffic. It's always rushing around, but never getting anywhere.

This station is on the Camden Line which runs from Camden Station in Baltimore to Union Station in DC. I took a train from this station to Baltimore and it was a smooth 45 minute ride up north. The station is unmanned so you buy tickets from the ticket machine. Fares are pretty reasonable for the distance. Current price of $8 is acceptable, though somewhat pricey if you are a regular commuter. This is a commuter train service so trains are limited to the morning and afternoons on weekdays which is a bummer. It would be great if this service would run on weekends for UMD students heading up to Baltimore for the day. While getting to DC is easy enough since Metro stops here.

All in All it is very easy to get into DC on the train however, after events it can be super crowded. I would recommend added a Tap option for an easy way to pay to get on the train. The metro is always so clean and I find it usually runs on time. There is usually only one station attendant here, and there is a bathroom but they need to unlock it for you. The station also connects to Marc on the lower level. It currently only runs Green line, but is set to alternate green and yellow in December 2025. I wish they'd expand the green line farther north to Laurel, Jessup, or Dorsey station.

It's rather easy to get to from route 50 and it has an outdoor parking lot. There is currently a lot of construction there, so the parking lot is a lot smaller than normal. Luckily, when I have gone, it hasn't been crowded. But I can't help but Wonder how folks fight for parking spaces during the work commute. The station itself is just fine. It has three escalators -- one to go into the station and go through the gates, and two to go to either side of the platform to go to either New Carrollton or Vienna. It's convenient that I live somewhere that has access to so many stations for my different needs riding to the city.

This metro station is almost always clean if you don't count the lantern flys which have taken over…read morelately. Compared to other metro station this one isn't the best as there is no covered parking, the station leaves you in the elements, and more often than not the escalators don't work. Even when busy there is always parking in the lot, however. Getting picked up and dropped off by RideShare providers can be hit or miss sometimes as different drivers get sent to different entrances. Many metro riders anticipate being picked up at the "Kiss and Ride" however about 70% of the time RideShares go to the opposite side of the metro on SGT. Hartman Ln. I've been confused myself and seen others with the same confusion. Additionally, when it comes to park and ride, the parking spaces are TIGHT! I mean I have paid for reserved parking to ensure I have more space when getting in and out of my car.
