The restrooms at this location are always closed. I use the MARC service quite frequently and, in all my visits, I have never once seen the station restroom open. When I recently asked an Amtrak employee where I could find a working restroom, she simply stared at the "Out of Service" sign and then looked back at me as if I couldn't read it. She replied, "It's out of service," completely ignoring the actual question I asked. When I clarified that I was asking where I could find an available restroom, her attitude was dismissive and unnecessary. Customers should not have to struggle or be treated poorly for asking about basic amenities. Her only suggestion was that I wait 40 minutes for my train and use the restroom onboard -- which is completely unreasonable. This level of customer service is unacceptable, especially at a major transportation hub. Something as simple as using a restroom should not be this difficult, and staff should be trained to assist customers respectfully.

If it was just me, you could seriously throw me anywhere and I'd be fine. However, with the family, I need a big assurance that there would be no issues at the metro station. This place checks all the right boxes. It's simple to get to. You just pull up and there's no tickets, you only pay a flat fee for parking there. As far as walking to the metro, very simple and self explanatory with with metro cards to the left of the entrance. This isn't Grand Central Terminal, but it's got a ticket machine and some shelters, which are all pretty clean. Trains come by towards Baltimore and towards Washington every hour, and every 20 minutes or so during peak times. Great spot for railfanning due to the view of trains coming up the grade from the south as well as trains rounding the curve up north. Amtrak services fly past at 125 MPH (You can only get on MARC trains here).

There's multiple levels. Parking is $4.95 daily. Weekends are usually free unless there's an event at UMD (like a game) then it's $15 from what I've seen... could be more by now. Over the last year, there have been some challenges getting to the station due to the purple line construction. Not sure when that'll be completed but lately it hasn't been too bad! I'm so glad they recently brought back the yellow line. If you miss a green line train, a yellow one comes right after! There's still occasional delays but no overall complaints. The employees at this station are super helpful. I'm late to the game but I finally downloaded the smart trip app and use it to enter the station. No need for a physical card.

However, this place is a mess with the never ending, ongoing construction of the Purple Line. I do not know how many times I have missed my connection because you have to travel their rat maze to get to and from the station. I mean, I have literally just missed my bus each and every time I have gotten off of the train. Pros for this place is that they have a parking garage. Bike parking is available as well. Connection with buses, Metro and PG, and with MARC. I really do enjoy this station, if only they can finish at least a bit of the construction to allow for better flow of foot traffic. It's always rushing around, but never getting anywhere.

We required some assistance with getting all of our tickets from the attendant which was super helpful. The ride was smooth and the station was clean. I did have some challenges with getting out of the parking lot after returning to car. It is a bit confusing on how to get out due to poor signage in my opinion but ultimately figuring it out. All in All it is very easy to get into DC on the train however, after events it can be super crowded. I would recommend added a Tap option for an easy way to pay to get on the train. Will definitely be riding again

The metro is always so clean and I find it usually runs on time. There is usually only one station attendant here, and there is a bathroom but they need to unlock it for you. The station also connects to Marc on the lower level. It currently only runs Green line, but is set to alternate green and yellow in December 2025. I wish they'd expand the green line farther north to Laurel, Jessup, or Dorsey station.

It's rather easy to get to from route 50 and it has an outdoor parking lot. There is currently a lot of construction there, so the parking lot is a lot smaller than normal. Luckily, when I have gone, it hasn't been crowded. But I can't help but Wonder how folks fight for parking spaces during the work commute. The station itself is just fine. It has three escalators -- one to go into the station and go through the gates, and two to go to either side of the platform to go to either New Carrollton or Vienna. It's convenient that I live somewhere that has access to so many stations for my different needs riding to the city.
