He was dog aggressive and very hard to handle on walks if dogs were present. Being very stubborn, he needed a full four weeks of camp, but came out as a very pleasant companion, obedient and easy to walk. The people at DDG are fantastic, very personable and great dog trainers. They kept in touch weekly, sending pictures, discussing the tasks accomplished and the problems to be worked out. During the thorough check out experience , they trained me how to handle Ripley so that he wouldn't forget what he learned. This was altogether a great experience and money well spent. Sarah, the trainer, had the perfect background credentials, self-confidence and philosophy so I signed up my dog to be trained by her at the dog resort. The protocols for safety (physically and emotionally) at the facility are outstanding. Soon,I met with Sarah and she developed a training proposal which I approved. My dog came home from daycare TIRED and less clingy each time he went there. When his training was complete, I was shown how to do the trainer's commands and motions and now my dog's demeanor in our home and in public is calmer and our relationship is at a new level of trust and respect (both ways). Home Away From Home…read more.... Love Dogs Camp has made a big difference with our dog, Pugsley, since we moved to the area 6 years ago. He was rescued from the streets of San Jose at the age of 1. Before moving to Nipomo, we researched and visited many places offering daycare and boarding, but Carolyn at Love Dogs Camp gave us the most confidence. It offers Pugsley a great environment with no kennels, freedom to roam on 5 acres and the ability to socialize with both big and small dogs. Carolyn has a wonderful trainer - Brett - who's very knowledgeable about dog behavior and nutrition and helped Pugsley become less fearful of other dogs. Supervision is a priority and he is never left alone. Carolyn does a great job vetting new dogs and their owners to ensure compatibility with her existing clientele. She also provides healthy home cooked meals for the dogs at least once a day. Whether it's for just a day or a couple of weeks for vacation, we have no concern bringing Pugsley to Love Dogs Camp. It's his home away from home.

My granddaughter worked there a while ago and had no training and expected to get training, but didn't get any. Instead she was left along with the dogs. She wasn't even officially hired and paid in cash. She thought that was nice at first but then realized it was not legal. She said some dogs were out of control and she feared for the safety of the other dogs. The owner says everything right at first but talked down to my granddaughter and disrespected her. This is not a place I support.

Not only was my sweet little anxiety ridden dog treated with kindness and love, he also received the best grooming he has ever had in his 9 years. Destiny was the sweetest, most loving person and groomer. I'm always a little anxious when I leave Buster with a groomer because he's so sensitive and anxious I hope he is not being mistreated in any way. But Destiny was the kindest, sweetest groomer I have ever met. I knew he was in good hands. Maddie was also the sweetest person. I recently moved from Florida back to California and I'm so happy that I found this establishment. They are also kind of out in the country in Arroyo Grande and it's a really pretty place.
