I had a good experience flying with Seaborne and would definitely use them again to go over to St Croix! No lines, easy check-in, nice flight, great scenery....we had nothing but pleasant dealings with this company! Used Seaborne to get from St Croix back over to St Thomas, and it was pretty much a breeze. Got to the terminal, there really wasn't many people there at all, got checked in in no time, and there was a nice area right on the water to sit and wait for your plane. Yes it was delayed a bit but we didn't mind, and pretty soon the plane landed and we boarded and were headed for STT! It was a nice, uneventful flight and we got back to our island quickly, got our bags, and were done! Since there are limited options right now to get over to STX from STT (I think the new ferry is supposed to start running soon!), Seaborne is a great choice. It was quick, easy, and fun too as you take off and land on the water which is pretty cool. We had a great experience with them and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. read more

I wish I could give the poor excuse of a company 0 stars. Not only did the first flight get delayed by an hour and a half. The return flight the same night got cancelled unexpectedly with no reason. The flight today then got cancelled again because of plane malfunctions. We were supposed to takeoff at 8am, so they told us to get there at 7 am to check in and board. They didn't open the gate until 7:30, let's us walk up to check in and told us after we checked in the plane was not fit to fly and we needed to wait till 9:30 am to see if we could fly. We have a flight back home today not in the islands and now we will miss our flight home and have no hotel to stay at because we were supposed to check out today. Not only was the flight delayed but then we ask questions get no help trying to find another way off the island. They then told us at 8:45 when there is no other options available to book that all the flights are canceled for the day. 0 way to get back to the hotel we are staying at no clothes no anything. Absolute worst experience and people to have interacted with. They canceled our flight off the island of St. Croix without any notice. They said they tried calling us but we had 0 missed calls nor did anyone leave us a message.The water ferry doesn't run on Sundays so we were stuck. British Virgin Islands to Santo Domingo via San Juan with Seaborne Airlines. This is by far the worse airline I have ever flown on. Our Captain after delaying our flight 30 minutes on a 45 minute flight decided that the luggage they demanded we all check in was too heavy for the flight. Instead of asking anyone to re-book to a later flight they decided to leave everyone's luggage in BVI without informing the passengers. However, we paid the $50 for our bags to be checked. After clearing customs in Puerto Rico everyone sat in the luggage carousel area waiting to clear our luggage for our connecting flights. After an hour a member of Seaborne staff told us what happened and told us to go online to file a claim as he had no forms. He did provide us a business card with a telephone number and e=mail address for the online claim process. Off we headed to finish our vacation in the Dominican Republic with the clothes on our back, an iPad and our passports and wallet. How long could it take to get our bags back really? I mean BVI is a stones throw from The Dominican Republic. Well, numbers given to contact baggage claim did not work. One was out of service and the other went to a person who kept hanging up after saying he doesn't deal with bags. 5 hours of international calls on hold to customer service that cost us $89 dollars in international calling fees got us 20 other numbers I managed to get someone and after 72 hours of begging and several e-mails with no response our bags arrived without any of our electronic equipment in it. So now I get to try to get reimbursed for my stolen items. That $50 we paid to book our bags, what are the odds we will be getting that back? Never book on Seaborne - buyer beware I guess. read more

Unapologetically late on both my initial and return flights. Rude staff looks overwhelmed and put-out by customers from check-in to flight crew. It is also helpful to be aware that there is no space for carry-on bags overhead or under the seats in front so I would recommend minimizing what you actually carry onto the plane. read more

If you're ever thought of flying on Seaborne Airlines (a regional airline in the Caribbean), consider the following, which was the case for me on January 2016 when I had a connecting flight from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to San Juan, Puerto Rico: 1) They cancelled my flight, leaving my stranded in Santo Domingo for 24 hours, and that providing accommodations took 3 hours 2) They put me up in a hotel that had a live cockroach in the bathroom (the Be Live Hamaca Resort in Boca Chica, in case you're wondering) 3) The next day, I was mysteriously absent from their reservation system, even though agents had verbally confirmed I'd be on the next flight (the same happened to nine other passengers on the flight). After much maneuvering, they finally were able to add me to the flight 4) Due to weight constraints, none of our bags were onboard, meaning I arrived in San Juan without my checked baggage (note: when flying, ALWAYS make sure you keep your most important valuables including medications with you or in your carry on, NOT in your checked baggage!) 5) It took them 4 days to deliver my bag. Customer service has been unresponsive, to say the least (there have been times where I call their lost baggage hotline, only to hear a busy dial tone) 6) An airline agent promised me he'd send a written confirmation detailing the nature of my bag delay so I'd have a record, but failed to abide to his promise 7) They promised me compensation for the bag delay (I did have to buy toiletries and clothes, after all) but then changed their rules after months of waiting to avoid paying me a cent (fortunately, the travel insurance I have through my credit card then kicked in and I got paid). Our flight was delayed over an hour from St. Croix because an overhead bin lock broke and wouldn't close. Things happen, we realized we would probably miss our flight and tried to relax. They are disorganized, unprofessional in that they were joking around with each other and laughing when a line of us were anxiously awaiting flight updates after missing connecting flights. Okay so I was SUPER nervous after reading horrible reviews about this airline but whatever I had bought my tickets from San Juan to St. Thomas already. Our experience wasn't horrible but if I hadn't been so paranoid about our experience being horrible then it actually would have been. Hopefully that sentence made sense... Let me explain. I feel like this airline would be great if they worked like a Delta or any other normal airline, meaning they send out emails IF your flight changes. They do not so I think this is why so many people miss flights. A couple days before I checked our reservations on line and sure enough our flight out was earlier and our flight back was earlier by a good couple hours. I then called the day before just to confirm this. If I did none of the above then we would have missed our flights. Next flying out of San Juan was kind of confusing for me, the announcement of the flight was very garbled, my husband caught the flight number and we were the last people on the flight. It was a quick flight and we got our bags pretty quick once we were in St. Thomas. Leaving St. Thomas we got to the airport early for customs and all that fun stuff. There is NO WHERE TO SIT in the st. Thomas airport so we went to gate 1/2 bc it was empty. Our boarding time said 1:40 so we had a good 2 hours. I kept telling my husband around 1 that we should go to our gate bc this airline is notorious for leaving early.... He told me to chill. Typical male, one day they'll learn females who yelp are always right. I decide at 1:20 I would go to the gate by myself and thank god I did, they were done boarding and getting ready to leave. I told the woman I had to get my husband, got some serious shade thrown my way and we again were the last ones on the flight, that we most definitely would have missed if I had not gone over early. Needless to say, if you take seaborne, check your reservations on line the week of your flight and the day before/day of to make sure they haven't changed you and whatever you boarding time says please ignore it and just wait at their gate bc they don't give AF and will leave you haha. read more

We first booked on Seaborne because the flight time were really convenient and early, allowing us full days at our origin and destination. Great right? Then, due to "equipment issues," about a month or so before the trip, they cancelled them all. Equipment issues that far in advance?! Then, they rebooked us on JetBlue (well, said they would do it, but it took almost 3 weeks of regular calls to verify they were in fact doing it.) I mean, booking a flight takes 1 minute guys, get your act together. In the end, we had inconvenient flight times, they charged our baggage fees (which our fare class said was free) in EUROS even though that's not the currency in either Puerto Rico or the Dutch side of Sint Maarten, where we were. They SAID it would be dollars, but was Euros instead, this $12 more. I cannot WAIT to get home and give these losers hell for the grief they put us through. My gf and I had a really bad experience with Seaborne leaving St. Croix. When we checked in about 45 mins before the flight was leaving, they told us they closed the gate and weren't taking any more passengers. Upon rebooking our tickets I later found out that the ticket agent gave us the wrong time! It was a good thing I checked because we would've missed that flight as well. The next day we noticed passengers coming into the holding area nearly 15 minutes before departure, so I think they had sold our tickets but didn't want to tell us. We have been trying to get ahold of them to discuss our experience, but to no avail. They also overcharged our credit card for the baggage fees, which we are disputing with our credit card bank. I would highly recommend taking Cape Air instead of Seaborne. read more

The "customer service" associate couldn't explain why plane left early and was completely unhelpful. Update: Seaborne Airlines "customer service" allegedly reached out to reviewers on Yelp asking us to share our experience. I wrote customer service and never received a response! We had no issues flying from San Juan to Tortola, British Virgin Islands but the return was so poorly handled, we will never use Seaborne again. We've used Cape Air three times previously with no problems at all. We tried Seaborne this time due to our flight schedule. Seaborne "bumped" or oversold seats so four of our party had to wait 2hrs for the next flight. Thank god they had no connecting flights that day. When we arrived in San Juan, we were among 9 passengers who's luggage got "bumped." When we asked they mentioned something to due with weight issues on a small aircraft. Our luggage arrived 8.5 hrs. later to our hotel. I had called and was told our luggage had arrived to San Juan some 3 hrs later, but evidently their delivery service doesn't deliver until the evening ( our Hotel said that deliveries only happen after 7 PM - the hotel did not know the reason for this). Also, our friends who flew out on the later "bumped: flight also had their luggage bumped. This tells me that getting luggages to follow a passenger is evidently not a priority to this airline !! read more

The women working the desk were incredibly unprofessional and unhelpful, they cursed while trying to check us in for our flight and walked off several times to talk to their friends while checking our bags. After dealing with Seaborne I'm shocked they're still in business. We had round trip tickets for San Juan to Saint Thomas. Our overall plan was to take a cruise from San Juan, then fly to Saint Thomas to spend a week on Saint John, which is a ferry ride away from Saint Thomas. Both our inbound and outbound flights were cancelled days in advance. For the inbound (to STT) we received a voice message, but I was on a cruise and not able to check those. We were simply bumped to a later flight, but the desk was full of people upset about other cancellations. For our outbound flight to San Juan, we received a call and we were told that our 11:30 am flight was cancelled and we would be bumped to a 7:30 pm flight. This was for last Sunday, one of the busier travel days from Saint John/Saint Thomas of the year. I explained that this change would cause us to miss our connecting flights. They offered to put us on an 8 am flight from Tortola to San Juan, but I had no way to get there. The rep had a hard time understanding that I first had to take a ferry from Saint John. At that point all attempts at customer service broke down and the rep began accosting me. I was tactful, admitting that this wasn't his fault but that I needed help, and he actually hung up on both me and my wife several times, blamed us for our predicament, and even suggested that we should have taken a different airline (we completely agreed). I've never seen anything like this. Both flights cancelled. No explanation. No customer service or empathy. I really hope they make some deep changes or go out of business, because what I've seen of their standard operating procedure is completely unreliable. read more

Poor customer service! I have used this airlines several times over the years when down on the islands. Do to weather related issues in NYC, I missed my connecting flight with Seaborne. I ended paying an additional 200.00 to get to my destination because they would not credit me for the missed flight. When I got home and made a complaint with the main office they never acknowledged me. I called them and they said it would be a 75.00 per ticket change fee if I wanted to use the credit for future travel...original tickets were 95.00 a piece. The person I spoke with in Puerto Rico said the weather in NY isn't their problem. Hmmm with all the donations sent down to PR because of the Hurricane that I also contributed to and thats your answer?... Other choices out there to use for island hopping. read more

We booked seaborne for the first time to fly to St.Thomas. Our outbound flight was scheduled at 5:20 but we arrived early at 3:00. We asked if we could get on the 4:20 flight but customer service said no, just to be to our gate by 4:40 for check-in, which was fine. So we went to the bar for a bit then headed to our gate at 3:50, still an hour and a half early. A man came up and asked our names, said they had been paging us for ages, that we were missing our plane. We informed him we were on the 5:20 flight and he said there was no such thing, that this was the last flight of the day. So we were hustled out to the plane and scolded by everyone, and departed at 4:08. It was never explained to us what had happened. The day before our flight home we received 16 email duplicates informing us our 11:15 flight was cancelled and we were now on an earlier 10:05 flight. So we headed to the airport and arrived in line at 8:30. Although we were behind only one person, we still waited twenty minutes to be helped. Once we were being helped we figured out that the reason it was taking so long was that even though they had actually changed our flight time 3 MONTHS AGO they never told us until the day before, and they never changed our tickets in their system. So we waited another thirty minutes while the computer processed the flight change they had known about for months. What kind of computer is this? Was it using dial up? So we got through security and to our gate around 9:30. At 10:10, they announced our 10:15 flight was delayed indefinitely due to mechanical issues. Ah, I find it hard to believe they didn't realize until 5 minutes beforehand that our flight would be delayed, since the plane isn't even here, it's broken 30 minutes away in San Juan. I've devolved into present tense because it's now 10:24, I'm still at the St.Thomas airport, and I really hate Seaborne right now and will never fly them again. The only good thing about them is their customer service representatives, who were very kind and who probably also hate Seaborne. Unfortunately, their kindness is not making their airline work any better. Cross your fingers I make it home alive considering our "mechanical issues" announcement. And never fly Seaborne. read more

They said "no problem we will put you up in a room and give you a $10 meal voucher per person and put you on the next flight out tomorrow." So we agreed. The meal voucher was only good for one restaurant that was very expensive and not that good. Then the shower didn't work in our room THEN when we went to get our boarding passes they didn't have us in the system and the flight was full again! We were put on a waiting list hoping other people wouldn't show up!!! They had plenty of first class seats open but not willing to pay for the upgrade! How I was involuntarily bumped by Seaborne Airlines... I arrived at the St. Croix airport at 5:17 for a 6:10 flight. After getting my bag out of the car and a quick hug to mom and sister, I was in line for check in at 5:22. At that time, the line was already closed (I did not realize this at the time). At 5:27 I went around to the front to inquire about being in the correct place only to be told that the flight was closed. They indicated that the flight closed 45 minutes before the flight departed. This was a lie. Within 5 minutes as I watched, he begin to check in some pilots that were standing by. Although they claimed the pilots were part of the crew, there were at least 3 pilots standing there. Somehow, I would think the crew would already be on board at this point doing pre-flight checks. The gate agent and his supervisor (who was not there when the line was closed) REFUSED to do anything to assist us (there was at least one person in line in front of me that did not make it and at least 3 that came behind me that did not make it including a gentleman that had arrived at the airport at 4:00 and since the gate agents were not there stood around. Once the line began to form, he decided to wait for it to die down only to be told that he could not get on that flight either). This is the WORST airline experience I have ever had. I will NEVER fly Seaborne again and will pay more to fly another airline such as American that I can make all arrangements through. The gate agent did manage to do a 180 degree turn around (as far as helpfulness) and got me on the next flight to San Juan, however their initial involuntary bump cost me $272, later arrival to Atlanta and still waiting on my luggage. I have never seen such gross misuse and abuse of power, and likely corrupt behavior (I would not be surprised if money exchanged hands to get those pilots onto a booked flight). On the next flight I found out that a non-paying employee was allowed to be confirmed on the flight prior to me, a paying customer. Several lessons learned here, when dealing with a small airline that apparently does not value customer service, make sure there is no wiggle room for error. St. Croix does not have to worry about this tourist coming back. There are too many other tropical destinations I can visit that don't involve inept and corrupt employees for me to spend my money in St. Croix again. I told my mom, she can come and visit me in Atlanta or we can meet at another destination. read more

WARNING: Only use them if absolutely your last option. Traveling from St. Thomas to San Juan and they changed our early am flight without communicating it to us. We took the late ferry from St. John (bc there wasn't an early ferry to take in the morning in order to make our flight), booked a $250 hotel room, took a $20 cab at 5:30am to the airport to learn they switched our flight. This was after an hour wait outside the ticket counter. So we had to take another $20 cab ride to our hotel and wait four hours, take another $20 cab ride back to the airport to get on the later flight. Then they had to take all checked bags off the plane because of weight balancing issues did to weather (high winds), so they went around to get everyone's phone number to contact them regarding theirs bags that would be flown into San Juan on another flight and possible another airline. However, they NEVER CALLED and NEVER answered any phones for four hours that afternoon. So we had to go back to the airport (while on the last two days of our vacation- another $20 cab ride) to track someone down to help us. No one had any information and sent us on a goose chase throughout a very challenging airport to navigate. We are still here after an hour and no one is willing to help or even try to make any of this right. Worst management, worst execution, longest wait times= terrible airline on which I will never fly again. They need airline rescue immediately. read more

Awful experience. Upon arrival, I was told they only take cash because their credit card machines were down and had been for weeks. My boyfriend had to drive to an ATM to get cash to pay for our checked bags. Thank god we got to the airport two and a half hours early! Then I was told that Seaborne does not transfer my bags onto my connection. So I was somehow expected to claim my bag at baggage claim in San Juan, reenter the terminal, check in at Southwest and go through security all within 30 minutes?! Of course I missed my connection and of course I had to stay overnight in San Juan, on my own dime. Thanks for the heads up, Seaborne! Would have loved to been told this PRIOR to purchasing my ticket. Next time, I'm taking JetBlue or Southwest all the way to St. Croix. read more

Worst experience ever. For a 20 minute flight from US virgin island, st Thomas to San Juan there was a 1.5 hour delay. After we checked in they made an announcement that would not be able to take all the passengers .The most bizarre thing I have heard. supposedly it was too much weight because of the bags. Then they pick 4random names from passenger list who will stay back and fly from a evening flight (6 hours later).Fortunately we were not in the list but I still feel bad for people who were.After we landed, the second irritating thing was they didn't send our luggage with the flight. apparently they were planning to send it with the later flight. so shouldn't they inform us so that we could have taken some stuff for use like clothes may be ? We were supposed to go to Fajardo but had to stay on San Juan just to wait for the bag.I was tired, wanted to freshen up and I just had to spend hours outside with my itinerary getting hijacked by these stupid seaborne people. they did tell me that will send my bag the next day but obviously I don't trust them and what do I do without all my stuff for a day. Horrible airline! 10 of us flew them San Juan, PR to Tortola in the BVI's over a 2 day period and 6 of 10 arrived with no bags. Comment from shuttle and hotel was "oh ya man, happens all the time." Flying home was only one stop so we got our bags but departure times were changed 3 times between booking our flight and departure. They lost my luggage, then blamed it on another airline, then refused to deliver it to me, and then when they finally did get it to me...they left it on a boat unattended for hours! And the customer service, you might has well say what customer service. I had repeated hung up on, my concerns no addressed. I just can not believe they are still in business. I am STILL waiting, over a month after my trip, to get any sort of response from them. I initally got emails saying "we are working on it," but the those stopped. Just used them twice in and out of SJU. Very happy both ways! Even got wifi password and lounge access for free, was flying with cheapest ticket. Employees and crew was super friendly. Only complaint is that plane was an hour late on the way out from SJU, but not sure whose fault was that. They are highly recommended! read more

I would give them less than one star if I could. I had a horrible set of experiences dealing with the front desk people. Pilots are great and very nice but the people that are there to interact with customers suck at what they do. I won't make this mistake again. read more
