I love Sea Spa at Loew's in Coronado! The steam and sauna is heavenly, so is the outdoor whirlpool and private patio area. My face was glowing and really soft after my facial. I'm a local San Diegan, and this was my first Sea Spa visit. I thought the facilities were clean and the staff was friendly and knowledgable. I initially went just to use the facilities for the day, but decided to get a foot massage. My masseuse was very nice and I enjoyed the experience. I have had several foot surgeries and she was careful to ask me if the pressure she used was too much. I especially liked the private outdoor spa area away from the noisy pools. My girlfriend and I were in San Diego for the weekend just to relax and enjoy. We were looking for a nice relaxing massage on Sunday, and stopped in at this place, figuring it's at a great resort, it probably has a great spa. It IS fairly nice. People were friendly. Locker rooms were good. Long story short - we were given very light massages. I had a Swedish massage, it was very very light. My girlfriend had the deep tissue massage, but it was about like mine apparently - very very light. We were both given only 40 minute massages, which seemed closer to 30 minutes honestly. I didn't check the time carefully. We've had plenty of massages. You know how you feel after a great massage? Really great, like you just had an hour of heaven? Instead, we both felt like we had just had a really quick in-and-out treatment. Very disappointing. At checkout, we explained how we felt, and the manager apologized and offered us a 20% discount. We still felt disappointed, but accepted. But I then went to sign the credit card bill and saw: Massages $290 ($145 each - for 40 minutes??) Discount $58 Service Charge $58 Total: $290 I asked about the service charge, and they said it's a mandatory gratuity and was written in the fine print. Summary: we were not clearly told the price of the service and length of time of the service. As a result, we left feeling bad - like we had paid way too much and gotten a mediocre service. I suggest going elsewhere until management straightens this out. Good business is when you feel like you got a great product in exchange for money paid. read more

Visited Sea Spa mid week on a Thursday for couple massages. My wife received and highly enjoyed the Pre-Natal massage. She has gotten over 6 prenatal massages and this one was far best. I enjoyed the travelers relief treatment. Both massage therapists were very professional and attentive. Had it not been for sub par facilities for our expectations and lack of rituals in the locker room, we would rate 4.5 stars for the treatment service. Check in and check out staff were very kind and pleasant. Would recommend with the expectations the facilities are not as updated. read more

I recently went to Sea Spa for my second visit. The first time I was attending a wedding but browsed the spa boutique area and I was VERY impressed with the selection of retail. All of their lines are AMAZING! This last visit I booked a pedicure with a friend. Unfortunately since we had booked last minute, only two appointments were left (back to back times). This was at first glance seeming like a wash but we decided to book anyway and the staff GREATLY accommodated us. We sat next to each other the entire time in great big massaging pedicure chairs and enjoyed champagne and amazing pedicures from Gaby. She rocked. This is one spa that has a worthy "spa pedicure" as the coconut scrub and intense hydrating treatments made for an incredible treatment for my legs and feet. Can't say enough good things. I will be back regularly. Also, a few additional kudos for Sea Spa..hand soap smells amazing! I love when spas pay attention to EVERY detail. AND, I noticed a MILITARY discounts and promotions. This is a big plus in my book as many of the families in the area can utilize this relaxing oasis. read more

I stayed at the hotel a few months ago and visited the spa, both for a facial and a massage. Both therapists were excellent. I felt pampered and well taken care of from the moment I arrived. I was able to relax in the steam room and go to a cute outdoor pool area before my service. They also surprised me with a glass of champagne! The entire team seemed energetic and happy to help me. 4 stars for my therapist. 2 stars for the checkout lady My girlfriend and I bought a travelzoo massage, scalp massage combination. The room where the treatment was held was very nice and the young lady I had did an excellent massage. It said on the travelzoo printout that it was a 65 minute massage and 25 minute oil scalp massage. The therapist told me the massage would be 60 min. and the scalp massage would be 20 min., which is ten minutes less that I thought I paid for. My friend was not happy with her massage...she said she was informed by her therapist it was just going to be Sweedish. My friend said it was very light and she didn't really enjoy it. It really got interesting when we checked out. My friend and I had calculated that the total value of the services were about $190 and that we would tip 15% which is $30. each. When we checked out the lady was quite aggressive and informed us 20% is the amount to tip for spa services and it would be $41.80....that is, unless we would like to give another amount. We said, yes, we would be tipping "another amount." In front of her whole staff at the desk, she said, "What will you be tipping?" Well, we didn't hand her a credit card, so she didn't need to ask. I handed her the $30. and so did my friend, and that was that. Now, in fairness I imagine that some people don't tip a fair amount on these specials and Groupons. But oh, how unfortunate to treat everyone the same. I would never go back to the spa all due to the checkout that we had. My friend are I both professional women and planned to tip a fair amount even though she was not thrilled with her treatment. Bottom line, I'll take a pass on Groupon or travelzoo vouchers. I don't care for this kind of treatment. Tipping is based on your satisfaction of the service. I was very satisfied and I tipped 15%. My friend was not satisfied, but she still tipped 15% and then we got this aggravation about 20%. It always feels like when you use these Groupons or vouchers the vendors are aggravated by them. Then don't run the special!!!! read more

I also fell for the travel zoo special which is obviously NOT a good deal, at all! Lunch took more than 40 minutes, couldn't even get a beverage. The scrub and massage as others have noted was more of a rub of lotion than a massage and then an automatic $45. gratuity is charged followed by a parking fee! They will only accept a few coupons on each day so we had a hard time getting reservations, as soon as we entered they wanted the coupon and each person mentioned we were there for the "travel zoo special" noting that it clearly was not their preference even though they automatic gratuity on a day when no one else was there seems like a great deal for them. Very disappointing experience. read more

Okay, inside the women's loker room smells like old, dirty vagina and it is BEYOND PUTRID. There is no way that people can't be smelling this and it was almost enough to make me leave and forego the voucher for massage and sea scrub appointment. Once you exit the actual locker room, the candles make the smell tolerable but it sets the stage for the rest of the experience at the spa/pool. The massage was 4 out of 10, there was ZERO pressure in my swedish massage although I kept asking for more to no avail. The shower to wash off my scrub was broken in the room, so was forced to re-enter the smelly locker room and wash, which also ran into my massage time. The pool area is crowded, towels are small and robes provided are old and tattered. Would NOT recommend anyone to go here. They only validate parking at the spa for 3 hours, so we STILL had to pay for parking when we left. Super overpriced, unsanitary and overall negative experience. If you are at all thinking of this place, do NOT GO. read more

Disclaimer: I went here on a $99 Travel Zoo coupon - maybe that affected my service, but with a $42 extra charge on gratuity alone, I should hope not. I thought I was getting a 25 minute scrub followed by a 50 minute massage. I got there on time, but my therapist was 10 minutes late in getting me for the treatment. Instead of adding 10 minutes on my time, she shaved it right off. My 'scrub' turned out to be a 10-12 minute slather down, with no actual scrubbing, with some brown sugar exfoliant, followed by a quick jump in the shower. Then on to an okay massage. The therapists hands were strong, which was good, but she wasn't very experienced or knowledge and skipped places, and generally did a so-so job. The entire treatment was advertised at a $225 value. I paid $141. The lady at the counter didn't realize I was on a coupon and tried to charge me $162 for the total value. Erm... something wrong here. What happened to the $225 value, which I was paying gratuity on?? My bottom line is, whatever I was meant to pay, it wasn't worth it. It just put an expensive downer on my day off to treat myself. Next time I'll stick with the Korean ladies in Kearny Mesa. You live and learn. read more

I went in to get a massage over the weekend, as my friend had recommended this spot. The woman at the front desk, I believe her name was Celeste, was exceedingly polite and helpful. The Sea Spa was awesome. It was my sisters birthday weekend and I wanted to treat her to a nice spa day. When we walked in we were greeted and welcomed by a very professional young lady. Once we filled out the intake form we were given a tour of the facilities. I really appreciated the co-ed lounge room because a lot of places don't offer this and you never see your significant other till you leave. There was snacks, water and tea to enjoy. Also the jacuzzi was right there and only for spa guest. Once we were in the women's locker room there was another lounge with water and fruit. The spa coordinator was so generous with offering us a glass of champagne knowing we were celebrating my sisters birthday. The steam room and dry sauna were amazing, I could of enjoyed myself even without getting the massage. My massage therapist was very educated and hit all the right areas that I needed the most work on. Overall it was a great spa day and I would recommend to all. read more

I don't know why there are bad reviews on this place because this spa is amazing! I came here the other day to get a massage and my therapist came out on time explained the whole service and even worked on areas I didn't know was sore. Afterwards since I was with friends she gave us complimentary champagne and strawberries and told us about how we could stay all day and use everything from their gym to their sauna and jacuzzi. It was the most relaxing thing I have done in so long since I am a mother. Thank you so much Sea Spa and I will definitely be returning!! read more
