I went here for an office spa day and I got the massage. The facility is nice and so was the staff. However when it was my turn for my massage the nice lady who did it would not stop talking nonstop during the whole entire time and because she was talking so much I did not feel like she did her best on the massage at all because I can honestly say for the price paid I have had way better massages. I don't want to name anyone but I feel as a professional who knows people are there to relax and enjoy the peace please try to limit your life story and how much you talk. read more

Went there specifically for a facial with a product line I use. I added lip and eyebrow waxing. I paid $300. The facial service was not complete. She blamed a broken light as to why she couldn't perform the extractions. I stressed this was the whole point of the service. But then she turned on all the lights to do the waxing. The waxing was not good either. They use a wax that you peel off, not the one you use with cloth (old school method). After getting home, i noticed a lot of hair was missed with this technique. Then, no shaping or cutting of brows, just two wax pulls on each eye. I doubt she was an aesthetician. I spent a few minutes in the sauna and noticed it was bad condition. Another issue I had was that they give you robes like normal spas, but then put you in a waiting room with both men and women. Really uncomfortable. I am not clothed and I have to be in a robe with men around?! The facial was relaxing but not what I booked. They did give me a 10% discount and took off another $15 add on service I had. People were nice. I will not get these services again. I am sure they are fine for massages. read more

After reading the reviews I was a bit skeptical... but I gave it a shot anyway. I can't say enough good things about my two services today. I think a lot of people don't take into account that this is a spa at a 4 star hotel in one of the most luxury areas in San Diego, the cost reflects that. I had a 50 minute travelers massage & a 25 minute hydrating facial. I feel so relaxed and rejuvenated. This jewel was the highlight of my experience at the Bay resort! went here to get an updo for a special event, I had the pleasure of Minnie doing my hair! She was so fun, energetic and fast but did an amazing job on making sure my hair was perfect. She was very adamant on referring back to the picture I showed her, although it wasn't necessary in my case because I am not picking, I thought it was a very considerate of her. I was also very impressed on how Minnie allowed me to just relax. Anytime my hair is being touched or worked on it feels very relaxing and I was pleased to be able to just relax and not have to talk about my whole life like most hairdressers expect you to do, Minnie was great about just letting me enjoy the experience. I stayed at the resort the first weekend of June and decided to kill some time and get a wash + blow out at the Sea Spa. The front staff was very kind and the place was clean and quiet. I cannot remember the stylist's name (she had a face piercing if that is any help) and she was also friendly and chatty which was great howeverrrrr- it was a horrible blow out. Absolutely horrible. The hair wash was not relaxing because she was very rough and it lasted about 2 minutes. She asked if I wanted some curl & volume and I said yes. The volume was definitely there but my hair looked like I was straight out of the 80s. The curls were barely there, my hair was knotty, and I ended up straightening my hair right when I got to my room. It's unfortunate but I truly do not recommend their hair services. I should've listened to the other reviews. If you have to go here, just ask for something extremely simple I guess. read more

I read all the Yelp reviews I could read, shortly AFTER we made reservations and we had just cruised past the cancellation time. Needless to say, I walked in there with fear in my heart and a lock on my wallet. My massage was almost exactly as described by the reviews. Very little pressure, when I was asked how it was going I said "give me all you got", but quoting Tony Montana with a woman in her early?? 50's didn't do the trick. The massage felt like it was closer to 40 minutes than 50 minutes, but I expected that so I wasn't blown away or even shocked. Now, the rest of my experience was fantastic!! The folks at the spa made me feel welcomed. The spa was very clean, which is right up my alley b/c I suffer from germaphobia and a filthy spa could trigger an attack. The steam room was awesome! I was feeling a little under the weather when the vacation started and a couple of 20 minute stints in the steam room definitely helped. I spent the good part of an hour just relaxing outdoors and enjoying the beautiful day, sipping on chai tea and citrus flavored water. It was a very relaxing experience. So much so that when I was leaving the girl asked "did you enjoy your naps?" I thought to myself "she didn't have a lisp earlier, so she must have seen me napping at least twice." Sure enough, the gf confirmed that I fell asleep twice!! If I can fall asleep not once, but twice, it's definitely a relaxing experience. read more

I'm not a huge spa-goer, but I'm becoming one after having an amazing experience at the Sea Spa. The facilities are somewhat hidden within the Loew's Coronado Bay Resort complex, but are very well clean and come complete with showers, steam room, and sauna within the locker room. The waiting area is serene and kept stocked with snacks, teas, and water. It looked like it also opened up to a small courtyard that featured a hot tub, but sadly, my visit was not during hot tub season. My hot stone massage was amazing and the facial was quite the multi-sensory experience. Our attendants were very friendly and accommodating, surprising us with complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. I don't know if that's standard, as we booked two hour-long massages and two facials, but it was definitely an unexpected and fully-welcomed surprise. The staff was very friendly and professional. As a side note, I was so enamored of the robes they use, it was absolutely necessary to buy a couple of the exact same ones, so we could relive the luxury of the whole experience at home. It is a bit of a drive, and if it weren't for the voucher I received, I can't say for certain I would have paid full price at the time, but Loew's certainly exceeded any expectations I had. For a personal or special treat, I'd definitely keep the Sea Spa on the shortlist. read more

Travel zoo coupon. Booked appt 2 months ago no issues got the massage now trying to use another voucher before it expires it's been 2-3 wks trying to get an opening . Stephanie says no openings for 80 min massage Well I called without letting them know I had the voucher they have openings all day long When I told them I had the voucher now they don't have any 80 min opening. Ok so I asked if I can take a 50 min massage no problem. Then called back to cancel another booking and verified my apot w voucher oh no I can't use the voucher at all that day now it's they are maxed out on the voucher. They keep changing the rules. I just had my second wonderful experience at Sea Spa. The first time, I had the 50 minute signature sea spa massage. Since it was my birthday, they brought both my fiancé and me champagne and chocolate strawberries after my treatment! During this visit, I first changed into a really comfy robe and slippers. I hung out in the quiet relaxation room before my treatment and enjoyed the cucumber water and herbal tea they provided. I scheduled the 80 minute tropical sea stone massage for this visit. Before my massage, my masseuse asked me what type of pressure I generally prefer to help improve the overall experience. I got on the massage table (which was heated) and instantly felt relaxed. It was probably one of the best massages I've ever had. Afterwards, I went in the steam room for a bit before heading outside to the private lounge/hot tub area. Came here with the hubby for our anniversary; we both got pedicures and I got a massage. I'll just say he's sold on pedicures and will probably have to go regularly now. And the massage from Eva was the best massage I've ever had. Again with the resort experience; expensive, but actually in this case well worth it. My boss got everyone on my team a massage as a gift. We were all thrilled for the team bonding and the of course, relaxing at a spa on a work day. When we got there, my massage was scheduled as a facial, which I'm not a fan of, and the receptionist let me know that I would either have to take the facial or reschedule for another day because they didn't have another masseuse available. I scheduled it for the next day. It was annoying my reservation got mixed up b/c everyone else was together enjoying themselves and I had to go home. The receptionist didn't even seem apologetic. The next day I returned and everything was great. My massage was fantastic and seemed to last a long time. When I finished, I stepped into the sauna and then stopped by the private spa pool after, if I had brought my swimsuit I would've gone in. Next time! Then I enjoyed a nice shower and headed out. They gave me a complimentary body lotion that smells divine on my way out. I will definitely be back if I have some extra money, as its not cheap. read more

WOW! Cant believe these complaints have been made and these issues are still happening! You would think management would notice their yelp rating ( like all business) and actually take action if people are having negative experiences. I went here on Saturday and was supposed to receive a 50 minute Sea Spa massage. I was there 10 minutes early, but my therapist came to get me 10 minutes later than my scheduled start time. I thought for sure she would just go 10 minutes over... NOPE. I looked at the digital clock in the room right before and after my massage. Are you ready for this: 41 minutes. Thats how long my massage was. 12:11- 12:52 pm exactly. I honestly couldn't believe she cut my massage that short. And I know a lot of people had a discount through travel zoo. Not me! I was given this as a gift and my friend paid full price for the service. OH, wait, it gets better. So at the beginning, Im telling her I like firm pressure. She presses a little harder and says, "Anything more than that and its going to become a deep tissue massage (more expensive). Is that what you want?" She wasn't even giving me a firm massage! I get massages almost weekly, I think I know what a deep tissue massage is. Then, as she starts to rub my back, she says, "You know you have a mole on your back?!" Um.. yes doctor. I know I have a tiny mole on my back. Its been there since I was 5 years old. I was in shock. Weirdest masseuse ever. Lucky for her, my friend had already included gratuity. So after my massage, I decide to use their shower. Keep in mind, these was not a busy day at the spa. I only saw 1 other person the entire time I was there... So I get in the shower and there is a huge clump of hair on the bottom. There is also a used wash cloth sitting on the ledge. EW. I left a message for the Spa Director... Lets see what happens when he calls back. **a word of advice for the spa--- If your website advertises the Sea Spa Signature Massage as including hot stones and aromatherapy... you might want to let the masseuses know. I had a massage in the "Sea Spa"; while the massage itself was very good, the spa facilities were not up to par. The steam room in the men's locker room was not functioning correctly. I pointed this out to the attendant, who gave some story about people "messing with the thermostat setting", and said he would fix it so I could enjoy it after my (expensive) massage. An hour later, still not functional, and the same "thermostat" excuse. I spoke with the manager on my way out and got the same story. WHAT THIS MEANS is they need to spend the money and fix the steam room so it works all the time! Or don't offer a steam room, take it out of the brochures, and don't claim you have one when discussing the amenities of the facility. read more

A friend surprised me with a gift card to Sea Spa for my birthday so we made appts for pedicures this past weekend. It was my first time driving over to the Leows and thought I was going to get lost. The signs were easy to follow and I found a parking spot immediately which was designated for Sea Spa guests only. As I walked into the spa, I was greated by two girls at the front desk. They checked me in and had me wait in the relaxation room where I met my friend. Within a few minutes, Mara and Patty came to get us for our pedicures. I brought a color with me so I skipped that whole process! Mara had me sit down and offered me a blanket because I was freezing. With my blanket, she brought each of us a glass of champagne which was included with our pedicures (we got the Signature Champagne Pedicure). The pedicure chairs they have are AMAZING! I nearly fell asleep after Mara wrapped my feet in hot towels and even closed my eyes during my foot massage. Both women were so professional and accomodating. At check out, I met the new Spa director who was very happy to hear about our wonderful experience. When I asked about the fitness center, she encouraged me to check out their new spin class that they are offering on mondays. I was really happy with my friends choice in Sea Spa and we will definitely be back. The energy throughout the entire place was very positive and everyone smiled and made sure we had everything we needed. I would recommend this place to EVERYONE!! read more

I'm not a picky spa goer- I'm the person who actually for a moment considers the massage chair in the middle of the mall. I heard about Sea Spa through Travelzoo so some girlfriends and I decided to make a day of it. There is no signage, so prepare to walk around aimlessly until you find it there (if three sober, professional women can't find you, you need a freakin sign). We got there on the dot and expected to hurry and change and start our treatments. What we started was a TOUR. The girl showed us all the fineries of the locker room, leisurely wandering through. Well, she was setting the pace, so we began to relax. We changed and the therapists filed in. The first thing they told us was that because we were late, we could do one treatment or the other, but there wasn't time to do the full of both. We pointed out that we weren't late but there was no negotiating, they indicated their orders came from others. Ultimately I chose one of my treatments and she said she would extend it by a few minutes. While that might have been a nice gesture normally, it was incredibly annoying having paid for both services. Was I really getting a deal? Methinks not! As for the massage, it was nothing memorable, but i spent most of the time on the massage table pissed that I'd been tricked! I figure Sea Spa did Travelzoo to drum up business but I see that other people have had the same experience. There are so many great spa options here on the "mainland", won't be making this mistake again. read more

Nice hotel however tonight had to call down and finally complain because since we checked in yesterday all we could smell was marijuana in our room coming from somewhere. Tonight we returned from dinner and the smell was so overwhelming in our room I had to complain, they wanted to send someone up with air freshener but who wants those chemicals at 11pm at night? Shame because it spoiled what was supposed to be a nice vacation. Not cheap to stay in these hotels and you'd expect better control and security from an establishment that says it's a non smoking environment. Very disappointed... read more

This was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in! The villa suite was right on the water! the ocean waves literally came up right underneath the balcony and the views of Coronado Bay and downtown San Diego were spectacular! The spa was absolutely fabulous! I was promptly check in and taken back into my room where I received an hour long deep tissue massage. I cannot remember my therapist's name but it was a male, and it was one of the best deep tissue massage ever! I fell asleep during the massage and woke up feeling like a noodle! The spot where is really luxurious and professional with the ultimate little touches like robes hot towel warmers potty and samples! It was nice to not have the typical hotel spa experience ! I highly recommend this hotel and spa . and by the way the drinks at the bar or just as impressive as was the top notch service read more

I love a spa experience where you want to spend hours enjoying the facilities - as opposed to paying a lot of money and just getting a massage without the included relaxing add-ons. The staff was great, very accommodating - both at the spa and at the pool. Had a nice lunch by pool and some nice drinks in the beautiful cabanas. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here. After reading the reviews, I reluctantly scheduled an appointment for a 50 min massage. I felt that my own gym had nicer steam room and sauna, but overall the facilities were nice if not a little small. The receptionist who was there was a little out of it (probably because I was there super early in the morning) but the rest of the staff were friendly and competent. The massage from Kimberly(Kim?) was amazing! I get a lot of massages regularly and it ranked to the top 5 I've ever had. My masseuse really got in there and removed all those knots! There definitely was not any problem with pressure. She told me at the beginning that she tend to give deep massages, so just let her know if it's too much. I did not say a word, it was perfect! I was there with my mom and sister and they also found their massages to be great. They prefer their massage light. The rooms were comfy and dark enough. I was disappointed that the massage table was not heated. We were told that we could have ordered room service at the spa (since we were staying at the hotel) which would have been nice. Since I had to catch a flight, I passed this time, but I'll definitely try it out next time. There is a $10 fee to use the facility if you're not getting spa service, so that's a bummer if you just want to work out and staying at the hotel. (The gym is inside the spa). read more

For a quiet, peaceful spa day DON'T GO to this one. We arrived 15 minutes before our appointment time. It was difficult to locate. After asking the front desk and wandering aimlessly around the pool area we could not find any signs to point us in the right direction. Finally we asked a pool employee who walked us yo the stairway in the right direction. This caused us to be slightly late for our appointment. The reception and general staff within the "quiet" environment of the locker room waiting area were very loud with slamming doors and very loud talking even though there is a posted sign that this is a quiet space. Two male construction workers also walked straight into the waiting area where we sat in our bathrobes to work on something in the ceiling above the ladies locker room and made a ridiculous amount of banging and dragging noises in the ceiling and the wall. I almost thought the ceiling was going to come crashing down. Needless to say it was hard to get relaxed in the noisy environment. Besides all of the above, V.V. did a GREAT JOB on my facial and manicure. She was very friendly and professional and made me feel relaxed once I was in the service room. I highly recommend getting a service by her. During my Aunt's facial, her service employee constantly reminded her during her service that she was late and would not be able to perform the full service which I found rude. For the amount of money spent at this spa, I don't believe it was worth the environment. From the minute I walk into a spa I expect to start relaxing and enjoying myself, but unfortunately here it took a long while before that could happen. read more

I came here with 9 other ladies to celebrate a bachelorette and it was the PERFECT idea. What bride-to-be wouldn't enjoy a spa day with massages, champagne and all her closest friends close by? Bianca helped me coordinate this and was super patient and nice with all of my questions about pricing as I tried to make sure it worked for all 10 of us before we flew in. We purchased a nice long massage for the bride, bottles of champagne and day passes for the rest of us so we could lounge at the pool, sit in the hot tub, steam room and sauna. The locker rooms were large enough with a quiet sitting area where we quietly toasted with our champagnes. We all got robes and sandals so just walked around as we pleased. I couldn't have imagined a better day to relax too as the weather was perfect and the hotel sits on the water offering the perfect sunset as we walked out. read more

I stayed at Loews Coronado Resort last weekend for a wedding I was attending. I saw that the salon at the hotel offered hair services. 4 guest from the wedding including me all had our hair styled by Tiffany at the Sea Spa. While Tiffany was very friendly, her ability to style hair lacked majorly. All 4 of us left the salon feeling embarrassed of our horrible hair and had to fix our hair back in our rooms. I asked for beach waves, which seems very simple. Tiffany held the hurling iron upside down and added curls near my scalp, it was very apparent that she does not know what she is doing. Later at the wedding I met up with the other guest that Tiffany styled and we all had the same story of horrible hair. Do NOT get your hair styled here, please I'm trying to save your hair! If the salon can't hire qualified stylist that are up to date on styles, they should close the hair part of the salon. Guest should not be butchered before a wedding. I had a massage today and unfortunately I have to say that it was the worst massage that I've ever gotten. The therapist didn't work on any of the focused areas that I needed, and he seemed distracted. I think he was on his phone texting a few times during the session. The attention to detail was pretty much zero. The front desk woman was cold and not personable in any way. The outdoor spa area was playing hip hop, not relaxing at all, and the spa seemed really run down. The ONLY reason I even rated this with one star is because I did enjoy the steam room. There is an automatic 20% mandatory gratuity added, which made it $46. Had the massage been even good, ok, however no way did the therapist earn that. I'm a local, and I won't be returning to this spa. read more

We went to the Sea Spa for a girls spa day and took advantage of all of the amenities. I had a few minutes before my massage so I sat in the steam room. So nice and hot. Great way to prepare for my deep tissue massage by Vivi. Who was WONDERFUL! I love a good deep tissue massage but sometimes leaves you a little sore??? That was not the case here. She was wonderful and professional and the perfect amount of pressure. Left me wishing I had gotten a 90!minute massage instead. As I said, the steam room was great and we also enjoyed the jacuzzi in the private area. It really was relaxing. We went up to the pool area and had a luxurious cabana and lunch up there. What a treat! The service was quick and the all adult pool was dreamy.. No splashing kids :). All in all, a great spa experience. Kudos to Jennifer and her staff. We really had a great girls spa day. I arranged for a Spa day for myself, my two sister's and two nieces to celebrate our June birthdays. While the spa was small in size it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Staff were nice and pleasant. We started our spa day with a Sculpt class and a yoga class taught by the same instructor. She was good but I felt the yoga was fast but I am a beginner; so all in all a good experience. The spa was very nice with a comfortable women's locker room. The ambiance inside did facilitate relaxation with comfortable lounge chairs around, low lighting, flavored water and a cracker medley available to munch on. Staying at the spa allowed us access to the pool deck where one could order lunch. We enjoyed lunch poolside and the portions were huge, and we all could have shared a few dishes amongst us. (Next time) The servers were very friendly and the poolside tables had a call buttons to ring for a server. The spa offered a private garden jacuzzi area which was quite lovely and quiet. We all loved our experiences. Massages and facials and pedicures amongst us. My sister and niece raved about the facials saying it was one of the best they've had. George was quite nice and I felt myself so relaxed I might have dozed a few minutes. After our treatments we were led to a quiet room with comfy chairs and a lovely glass of champagne. The masseuse and aesthetician personnel were so friendly and pleasant that I say kudos to Sea Spa. The reason for 5 stars was that everyone loved the day and said they wanted to make this a yearly experience. We all would return to enjoy the welcoming, friendly service.
