It's a small restaurant with a cool vibe that serves well-crafted cocktails and amazing food. Paul Sletten is the owner and chef of Social Charcuterie Bar & Cocktails. Kwesi took care of us tonight. He was personable and provided good service. Not only that, but he made the best old-fashioned for my husband and a bees knees mocktail for me. Hubby and I decided to share everything we ordered. We started with the arugula and egg salad with smoked bacon, warm balsamic dressing, smoked salt and truffle oil topped with an egg. The yolk oozed over the salad once cut into. The only thing I would suggest is not to overdress the salad. The balsamic was just too much. We also had their seasonal focaccia - Yukon gold potato, rosemary, two year parmesan, garlic honey, evoo. I've never tasted a better focaccia. Then we split the pork belly tacos. I've eaten a lot of tacos in my life, and these by far were the very best I've ever had. Ever. They were insanely delicious. The last item we shared was the steak and grits. The 8oz bavette was cooked perfectly to rare as requested. It was served on creamy corn grits with five year cheddar. The flavor just burst in your mouth and the steak was so tender. Social blew us away with the creativity and deliciousness of their food. I wish I could take this restaurant home with me. My husband and I commented that we were at French Laundry, a three star Michelin restaurant, the month before and enjoyed Social's food better than at that particular restaurant. Don't get me wrong, French Laundry is certainly something special, but I was underwhelmed with their food. So if you're ever near Rockford, Illinois, I highly recommend this restaurant with a cool vibe, elevated and creative food, and tasty cocktails.

And the food is cranked all the way up to 11. I do not know much about rockford, but I can only assume this is one of the best cocktail programs in the City. A good balance of familiar favorites riffed, and creative concoctions adorn the menu. The food? Absolutely absurd. The chicken is jumping with flavor. Pork tacos are some of the best. A lovely charcuterie board should be mandatory for all guests. This place is full of fun, flavor, and love!

The Gouda dip was very tasty with plenty of perfectly toasted bread. I ordered the skate with orange sauce and it was so delicious. The chocolate cake dessert was epic! Next time in Rockford, we will be back! Great job Chef and also the wait staff!

I thought this might be a tad on the sweet side, but it was not... it was wonderful and very refreshing. I went with the Szechuan Ginger Beef Dip, which came with these great fries. I sat at the bar and was able to chat with the owner who recently won a couple of big industry cocktail awards. The bartender was super friendly and provided great service. One doesn't necessarily think of Rockford as a culinary destination, but this is a local joint run by a born in raised young woman... Crave is a worthy destination dining spot. But if you're driving by on the interstate it's also worth the stop. The hours are great. The dining room and bar are well appointed and there are even some outside tables. When you're on the road, seek out those local joints. I'm really glad I did.

The vibe was fun and energetic. It was upscale without being pretentious. Our server Alyssa was so very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu which I really appreciated. She recommended the sourdough focaccia and ahi poke for appetizers and they did not disappoint! For our entrees we ordered the filet. We ordered it medium but it came out medium rare but I didn't mind. Butter soft. The Thai cod was very flavorful; the heat was perfect, not overbearing. The cocktails were some of the best we have tasted. We ordered the bourbon drink and the psyche. Wow! No wonder the bartender won a prestigious award. The cost for two starters, 4 cocktails and 2 entrees was rather hefty but worth the money IMHO... our celebration was perfect... so thanks, Crave!

The service was good, especially the person that ran the food to the table. This seems far more authentic than any other place we have seen and the menu is very extensive with dishes that are not the normal Americanized routine fare in addition to your standard burritos, tacos, etc. Lots of creative chicken dishes.
