There were two young guys working the counter. We had to wait for a while for our turn. Watching the two guys work, of course I was hoping to get the employee that was more customer friendly. Instead, the guy who helped up was short 5'3', black hair/ beard not trimmed, wore sunglasses the whole time, generally his grooming standards were poor. He spoke to us in a up and down tone and was difficult to understand him. The whole time he is talking with us, he is wearing his sunglasses. For customer service you are speaking up and looking people in the eyes, groomed and preferably a smile on your face. He went on about all the extra added charges for the vehicle that could be applied, insurance, liability insurance, gas prices, the car in a traffic collision and staying longer than 30 days in repair shop, pay in advance for fuel, the cost of the fuel, it seemed it went on forever. Essentially trying to guilt us into added purchases. You would have thought he was getting a kick back on what he could sell to us. Cadillac was covering the cost of the vehicle for warranty work, we did not want further expense. After he could not sell any add-ons, he asked us the name of our automotive insurance, it appeared that stopped him in his tracks. We left Hertz a little bullied. The car was waiting for us, it looked like it was just washed, and blown dried, a few more minutes would have taken the car over the top, but nope. We called our insurance company, USAA and they said, yup you are insured for up to 30 days. Glad we did not get any add on extras.

Unfortunately, the car rental center is not inside the main terminal, so you do have to take a shuttle to the rental car area, which is about a 10-minute ride. When we landed, there was a long line, and it took us about 10-15 minutes to make the queue for the shuttle. Once we got to the rental car center, customer service was great. We had already checked in online and had our own insurance, so the process was pretty smooth. The customer service rep was really nice and even cracked some funny jokes. A few minutes later, we were in our car a white Mustang convertible in great shape and very clean. The only thing I wish they had done was give us a quick demo on how to close and lock the top, because we couldn't figure it out at first and had to watch a YouTube tutorial. Returning the vehicle was a breeze, and I got an email receipt within minutes. Overall, a smooth rental experience and a good choice for our San Diego trip!

It is so frustrating because Costco Travel packages include an Alamo Rental Car. So I can never get the rental car in the package; which is just dumb. They say that there is a past rental agreement, in MY (very specific) name, from 26 years ago in which the rented vehicle was returned 2 days late. They say that the rental fees were paid but the DNR is in my name. So if the fees were paid, and the vehicle was returned, why is there a DNR in my name? They cannot explain. This makes no sense. When I asked them more details, they cannot give them to me, saying that the details and rental information are not available. It's a mystery and very dumb. Nevertheless, I am happy renting with other companies and not this one. They are super disrespectful whenever I try to rent from them and they cannot clear whatever the so-called DNR is in my name. When I got back, they charged me $377 at the counter and provide me with the receipt only to find out later they $490 on my credit card. They accused me of not bringing the vehicle back with a full tank of gas. After numerous calls to their 1-800 number and submitting documentation through emails to date, they have refunded $258, they still owe me $112 in bogus charges which I continue to provide receipts for. as of this posting I am nearly 3 months in and still waiting for that refund of $112 if it will ever come. I have given up on fighting for the alleged $80 fee for a supposed nail in the tire. These guys are crooks. You can do better with another company if you choose to stay with these clowns make sure you document everything inside and out of the vehicle. And keep all your receipt.
