Now this store amuses me. If I could stop snickering and pay attention, I'd see some very nice clothing in here, the kind you'd wear home to meet his parents, if they're the rich and conservative type.
As I browsed in here recently, I struggled to keep a straight face at the conversation between two 60 something white-haired women, one the store owner and the other a customer. Their accents were comic examples of Aussie Toff, that odd mixture of posh British sounds, incongruously mixed with Australian English. They just couldn't emphasise enough how gaawwgeous and lovely and superb the materials were, how very classic and ageless the styles.
This is true enough. Some of the silks and cottons in here are beautiful, and the styles decidedly classic. But a caveat to people who are amused by themselves and others: bring your mother country heritage and some of those lovely, extended vowels if you hope to blend in.
