I've been taking Harley to Scrub a Dog for years, and every visit has been an excellent experience. Harley can be a little anxious, but Juliana is incredibly patient with her and has worked so thoughtfully to help ease her anxiety, especially during the drying process. What I appreciate most is how genuinely the entire team cares for Harley. They love and treat her as if she were one of their own, and that kind of compassion gives me complete peace of mind every time I leave her in their care. The folks at Scrub a Dog are the greatest! My dog had a really bad experience at a different groomer when she was a pup, so she's pretty high maintenance when it comes to getting groomed. Ana and Julianna have been so wonderful with her though that I keep returning here even though it's a bit of a hike since I've moved out of Maynard. It's well worth it, as over time their care and attention has made my dog much more comfortable with the whole process. Highly recommended! read more

I only wish I could give no stars. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED with services. ***Completely unprofessional client relations!*** I was a first time client. I was clear that my cocker's feathers should be maintained. I received no call that they felt they needed to be cut out for mats. They took hair way to short. In 30 years of having cockers, I have never not had a groomer call to discuss a situation if they felt something different needed to be done. Defensive attitude of OWNER PATRICIA McCART compounded my dissatisfaction with this business. These are hardly professionals. Never going back again, needless to say. "Scrub a Dog: where the customer and the dog are always wrong." I have never experienced such horrible and arrogant treatment from a business owner as I did with Scrub a Dog's owner Patricia. She lectured me and said it was all my fault and my old dog's fault, and she said in 21 years she has never had a complaint!!! Lie. Read the reviews. Also notice she replied to bad reviews that she didn't know one of the reviewers and wrote and long message about why another review was in the wrong like she said I was. She also said "because of me and my dog" she will not take elderly dogs again. I am shocked at how insulting and mean she was to me. I had one heated phone call with her from my regular groomer's shop a week later. The owner of that shop (Stacey from Doodle Doos and Dogs too. Westford. Fabulous!) got on the phone with Patricia to tell her what was not done at Scrub a Dog. She still would not apologize or be sympathetic to the hard time my dog had. I followed up with numerous emails. No response. Then I went IN PERSON and talked to her, and she would not back down at all and kept blaming me and the dog. When I said I wanted a refund she rolled her eyes and laughed derisively. Stacey from Doodle Doo's said when she has a complaint she immediately gives money back no questions asked. Get ready for Tricia to write a mean response about me and my dog. I never got a penny back. Is 80 dollars really worth fighting with a customer that hard and long? Scrub a Dog should have a big sign that says "The Customer is always Wrong!" This could have been avoided if she had just said, "I'm sorry the poor guy had a hard time. A nice clean place, and the manager (owner?) is super helpful. She showed me how to use the hose so I didn't blow high-pressure water into my dog's eyes and ears, which shampoos to use so I didn't irritate him, and how to rub him dry with a nice fluffy towel (which she supplied) before blowing him dry. I entered with a wet, sticky, muddy dog and left 30 minutes later with a clean, fragrant, fluffy dog who had a big smile on his face (even dogs enjoy a nice bath!) Totally worth it, and SO much easier than trying to wash him in my own bathtub! read more

Took my 9 mos old puppy for a grooming and I got calls from them after I dropped off my puppy about what I should do with my dog - lectured. I have not had this experience with other groomers. They charged me for nail filing but never filed my dog's nails only they said my puppy gave them a hard time. I paid $65 for a shave down and wash with some trimming around the face and supposed nail clip with filing for a less than 20 lb dog. They didn't finish trimming his paws. They knew full well they were trimming a puppy. It is their job - maybe they were not experienced enough to calm or distract my dog to give him a proper grooming. Cash or check only. Will not be going there again. Overall - it was a very stressful Experience for me and my dog. read more

First off, I'll start by saying my review is based on price and being mislead. You can skip the rest if price is no object. We've had our dogs several years and they've been groomed professionally previously. We moved recently and had to find new groomers. Over the phone Tricia gave me an estimate that our 55 lb shepherd mix would cost about 55 to 65 and our 140 lb mastiff mix would be 65. She saw the dogs at the time that were dropped off. Pet them, took them out back etc and never said anything about an up charge. When I picked them up she charged me 75 for our smaller dog and a whopping 120 for our bigger dog. I guess she didn't see any problem with her doing that either. I thought about saying something but bit my lip since I won't be back. I would never tolerate something like this with anything else, and this is certainly no exception. read more

We recently took in a rescue puppy who came off transport pretty grimy. We took her to Scrub a Dog, and they were so kind to her (and us). They walked us through all the steps, helped us when we were struggling, and were so encouraging and sweet. (The dog was not the only one who was a little apprehensive :-) ) Our dog is not a breed that requires "grooming" per se, but when she needs cleaning up, you can bet we'll be back at Scrub A Dog!! read more

Patti goes above and beyond for her clients.... she was able to accommodate us on short notice and outside normal hours. Our little dog came out looking great and in a great and playful mood, a sure sign of a relaxing and even enjoyable experience for her. Clearly the staff at Scrub A dog are caring and compassionate dog people. Sad to see the other reviewer had a different experience.... how many other groomers had she taken a 9 month old pup to have a comparison. Some folks think they are good dog parents but..... The prices here are outrageous. I have had my dog groomed for half the price at another kennel. I also got some attitude because I wanted my dog done in 2 hours. Would have come back at a more convenient time but no, they insisted on doing her then. Got a call to pick her up within one hour. $65 for one hour? Outrageous. But they did throw in a free lecture on how often I should wash her harness. Will never go back there. read more

Went in to do a self wash..... $40 for a large dog and $25 for a small!!!!!! What the hell... water isn't that expensive!!!!!! Ridiculous! Just wanted the convenience of not kneeling! No way! They tried charging me $55 cuz they said my dog had a long coat.... 2"???? read more
