TERRIBLE experience with this company. My sister hired them to paint 3 rooms in her rental house, excluding trim. His price was much higher than the competition but she chose to hire him because there was a patch in one of her walls that he promised would not even be visible by the time he was done. She was giving the keys to a renter on Sunday, so the painting needed to be done by Saturday. That was the agreement. She received an email and an invoice on Friday saying that the job was complete. She drove in from Portland on Saturday so that we could do a few things to prepare for the renter. We immediately noticed that the paint job was sloppy. There were several spots where the blue paint was showing through the white. Rather than taping off the light fixtures, they had attempted to paint around them and got paint on them. Rather than removing anything from the walls, (curtain rod hooks and smoke alarm for instance), they had attempted to paint around them, getting paint on them and also leaving patches of the old color behind them. In addition to this, there were white paint drips on the fireplace, the floors, and on the black trim in several places. They had attempted to remove it in one spot, but ended up removing a few layers of paint below, leaving white holes in the black paint. They also painted the ceilings the same color as the walls when it was supposed to be a different color of white, and the patch that she was promised would not be visible had simply been painted over and still was very noticeable. We were only in town for the night, and had to give keys to the renter in the morning and head home. We called Scrivner Painting to complain about the paint job, and the man who had painted it was sent over to see what we were talking about. He agreed that he had messed up, but said that he would not be able to come back until the next day to fix it. (I'm not sure what the plan was because he didn't even ask what color of paint he needed to fix the trim). My sister couldn't trust that he would do a satisfactory job without her there, but could not stay to watch him paint, so we bought paint for the trim and fixed what we could ourselves. When she talked to the owner about lowering the price, as she had not gotten the quality that they had discussed, he told her that he would not lower the price because she had interfered with the painting process (which he had confirmed by email was over by Friday) and, had she not done that, the job would have been satisfactory. He also attempted to blame "the condition of the home" for the terrible work, which made no sense. Her home is in average condition, and I'm not sure how its condition would prevent painters from taping edges and being less sloppy. He also asked how long it took us to fix his man's mistakes. When we told him, he laughed and told us that it would have taken his guy half that time (the same guy whose mistakes we were fixing!!!) The whole experience was very frustrating. In summary, THE QUALITY IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE!!! read more
