Prepare yourself, this is quite the journey! They completely removed a space-wasting fire place in the center of the house, opening up the space into a lovely open concept living room, dining room and kitchen. While removing the chimney, Devon discovered several dangerous mistakes the flippers who sold us the house did to the support structure in the ceiling, so he also had to install 2 large beams. He knew I really didn't love the idea of the beams sticking out, so he came up with a solution with the engineer to hide them and now you would never know just how much work is hiding behind that Sheetrock. I sleep much easier knowing that the bones of our house were brought up to and beyond code by Blue River Building. They also installed 'outsulation' and new siding and windows. Previously our house was perpetually cold in the winter and sweltering hot in the summer to extremely energy efficient and comfortable. Our kids rooms had these cold walls that would eminate a chill, but not anymore! The change I most love is a show-stopping 5' round window that is the focal point to the beautiful half moon patio. I hope the pictures do it justice. The finish work on the window is so meticulous, I know everyone took a great deal of pride in making it as perfect as it is. What was once a 'blah' house is now the envy of our neighborhood (I get stopped pretty regularly with compliments!) We also had them install new fences based off a design I found on Pinterest, and Devon translated it beautifully for our space. Blue River Building also built a new shed I jokingly say is our earthquake shelter because it's built so strong. We love everything Blue River Building did to our home. It's a breath of fresh air to walk into the space, and anyone who had been in our house prior to the renovation is completely amazed it's the same place. The biggest and most important changes are hidden, as they should be, and my husband and myself know that every penny invested in this house was put to good use.

Took waaaaaaaay longer than promised and went waaaaaay over budget. They don't bid the job and…read morestick to the price quoted. They charge for time, materials, and overhead (10+%). The guys are very nice, but sloooooow. When you are paying $70/hour (plus 10%) per guy and they are taking their sweet time doing your project, the bill adds up fast. Consider hiring someone who will give you a firm price at the beginning of the project and will work quickly to keep costs down. Devon has his guys doing all aspects of construction (except plumbing and electrical) including tile installation (which they are not proficient at) which added substantially to our cost overruns. It would have been cheaper if he subcontracted the tile work out to a crew that only does tile work and is therefore quicker at it. Be aware of cost overruns and funky bookkeeping. We never got all of the receipts for our project and could not verify if there were any inappropriate or fraudulent charges. Of the receipts we did receive, we were charged for items that his crew needed to do their jobs like screwdriver bits. If we are charged for these items, then they should be left on site when they were done (they were not). Cannot recommend this company to anyone. We ended up using another company in Lincoln City to finish our project, and they did an excellent job for less money and on time.

I eventually found Mike Gile's Eagle Cap Home & Handyman Services, and he agreed to come out and give us a quote, then was able to come do the work just a few weeks later, which was a pleasant surprise. It turns out his company is bonded & insured, and in Baker, that's important cause we've been ripped off by others a few times over the past few years. Mike came out and took care of a laundry list of issues from split yard hydrants, to some pretty gnarly drywall issues, a bit of light plumbing & even painting to finish up some unpainted areas left over from our master bedroom remodel. Mike did some great work, he was personable, Gave us a specific start time instead of a time-range, showed up on-time and finished a day ahead of schedule. Couldn't ask for a better experience!

Seth was able to trim the tree before the city required and make it look beautiful! There was no damage to our fence that was under the tree and he did a wonderful job cleaning up after the tree debris and besides a little "man glitter", one would never know he was there. We couldn't face the yard work and landscaping, nor did we feel like we could afford to pay the prices of the businesses we'd used in the past whose prices had escalated and quality has gone down. So everything continued to grow for another year. Tyler and Christina were such a blessing to discover! They are creative, committed, very, reasonably priced, have an incredibly impressive work ethic, and exceeded all of our expectations! They were an answer to our prayers. Over summer 2023, they provided landscaping, weeded our massive front yard and deeply sloped back hill over and over again, removed trees, trimmed and shaped our bushes, moved sprinkler heads, researched and installed a specialized dog specific turf system in our side yard for our three dogs which required digging out our hard clay like yard to several feet down in order to install several layers for the draining system, laid down landscape fabric and covered with rock to reduce the area that had to be mowed each week and prevent weeds from growing, covered our wooden fence with sealant...anything we requested, they were willing to do!!! We've introduced them to our neighbors and friends. Currently they are building a custom trailer for our neighbor to carry his side-by-side and providing treatments to their shop floor to keep it from eroding. They are very trustworthy and kind. Sometimes they have provided estimates of how long it would take to do something but ended up needing more time. They are such perfectionist, that sometimes they need more time because they are working hard to make something right. I asked them to give me a list of services they could provide in the summer and winter, and was given the following: Good weather months: Landscaping Mowing and weed eating Pulling weeds Raking leaves Trimming bushes / trees Tree removal ( depending on size and location ) Pruning trees Sod installation Sprinkler systems Sprinkler blow outs Decks Patios Pavers Artificial turf ( like your dog yard ) Fencing ( wood and chain link ) Painting ( houses may vary for outside but we do inside painting ) Stain for fencing Sealing shop/ garage floors Winter months: Snow removal Shoveling sidewalks and driveways Plowing roads and parking lots Snow removal from roofs Ice melt or sand options but not required Provide firewood: red fir and tamarack that has been split

I would not be surprised if they expected me to write something horrible, because I was really mean to them while they were helping me. But they stayed friendly the entire time which I am so grateful for. There were some things I were some things that did upset me, such as they start charging you when they leave their shop, so I was going to pay for the hour it took them to get to me. But because of random events the manager was there and we were able to talk him out of the charge. There are some things that they were trying the charge me for that I thought were unjust, but again the manager was able to drop the charges and I felt better with the payment afterwards. It was a really bad night and the guy who was helping us did seem new to the job, my only thing is if it was a bad night there should be more experienced people working out in the cold snow. Also, if the pricing does get ridiculous try and get in contact with the manager he really can cut you a better deal. But they got me back on the road and was ready to go within an hour and a half, and I am grateful for that.
