In a normal instance, I'd update my review from 1 to 4 due simply to inconvenience but I decided that after a long discussion with the store manager I feel very confident in this stores intentions to make it right. We were able to boil it down to some miscommunication and ill-made assumptions. I made it clear that I don't think that they are inherently bad people but I was simply seeking open and transparent communication on processes and expectations. James was very kind to me and even though I had my frustrations with them, I'll never say Ramon and Bo were ever rude to me either. Customer service in reference to tone has always been 10/10 even with the fluctuation in the service. I get it, no one is perfect. It's the holiday season and I'll chalk it up to a brain fart so if you are visiting soon I'd recommend keeping things annotated on paper for reference. Store's first impression was not the best. Upon entering the store, I almost walked out. The front of the store looked in disarray. I honestly thought this was a used/salvage type establishment. Fortunately, as I was debating whether to stay or walk/run out, Ramon asked if I needed help. I informed him I was looking for an electric dryer. He directed me to the dryers and informed me that the dryers had been tested and in good working order and new other than the scratches and dents. I was still not convinced. The dryers were also dusty. Then Ramon said they still had the manufacturer's warranty. He should have mentioned that first. I must admit, regardless of the minor scratches and dents and dust, the dryer looked in good shape. The inside of the dryer looked brand new/spotless. As Ramon left me to assist someone else, I looked up the dryer and price at one of the big box stores on my phone. The dryer was not only a better model than one I had recently purchased online. The dryer at Scratch N Dent was more than $400 less, not including other required fees the big box stores want to charge. Needless to say, I quickly canceled the dryer I had purchased online and bought the Scratch N Dent dryer. They even loaded the dryer onto my truck. Note: They do not strap down the appliance. So bring your own straps and or rope to secure the appliance. The moral of this story is, don't judge a book by it's cover. I got the dryer home, connected it and all is well. The dryer works perfectly. It has features I wasn't even looking for. Not to mention, the unexpected surprise when I opened the dryer door, there was light in the dryer compartment. I am truly happy with my purchase and will place Scratch N Dent at the top of my list for my next appliance purchase. I am both pleased and displeased. The store personnel were wonderful. The delivery personnel (the only delivery/family business they use) was horrible! Unprofessional, careless and dishonest. The appliances I selected and purchased were not the ones I received. I paid for the appliances to be installed yet they were not even plugged in. I called both the store and movers several times and ended up having GE come to my home to clean up the mess and service 2 of the non-working appliances. I cannot recommend purchasing items here unless you care able to make sure you get the actual items you purchase, move and install them yourself. Their delivery people nickel and dimed us and told us there were 4 extra fees on top of the $139 for the delivery that were never discussed beforehand. $20 more because we have stairs leading to our home (first floor delivery), $35 more because we are 1.1 mile outside of 1604 (Rogers ranch), $35 to move the old appliances out of the room they were in and a credit card fee. Read the contract before you sign I was told my amount was going to be 1,892 and ended up being 2,366 and on top they added 2 policy's without even telling US! SMH 1,892 when you pay CASH! So far this is one of the nicest experiences my wife and I have had buying appliances in San Antonio. We were immediately greeted with happy smiling faces. Bothe salesman were busy with customers but,told us they would be right with us. James was our salesman. Very nice and pleasant to talk too. Not trying to push a sale. purchased a counter width GE refrigerator and the sales person Ramon was very helpful and arranged for me to receive the refrigerator that day. When they delivered the refrigerator, they did not have the correct handle for the freezer drawer and left me to install all the shelves and drawers. They would bring the correct handle Monday. To remove my old refrigerator I told them they had to remove the doors to get it through the front door and remove the front door. They did not want to take off the refrig doors telling me again they did not have the correct tools. I stopped them from removing the hinges on my front door, they just needed to remove the pin in the hinge. After many attempts to get the refrig out of the kitchen without taking the doors off, damaging baseboard, corners of the walls I showed them the manual, they went to their truck and got their electric drill/screwdriver and took the doors off. 2hrs later they got the refrigerator out of the house. While putting the shelves in I discovered the upper shelf that slides back had warped trim. Ramon said they would bring me another one. That was Aug 8, several phone calls, promises to get the shelf, still no shelf. Now Ramon will not return my calls. It is a new scratch n dent refrigerator and should not be defective. This is the place to go if you need good appliances fast! If you can get past what, in most cases, amounts to minor cosmetic damage you can score a great deal. This place has GE and Whirlpool appliances, believe I saw a few other brands as well, contrary to what dude reported. Yes, they charge a fee to take your old stuff out- as do ALL appliance sellers, including the "big box" stores. I had Lowe's take away an old oven just a few months ago and they charged me $30. These guys charge only $10!!!! Here's my story: I ordered a new whirlpool refrigerator from Home Depot in late May that was to arrive mid June, only to get a phone call from Whirlpool two days before delivery date saying that the delivery was going to be delayed for another month. So the new delivery date arrives, and then I get a second call telling me that it's going to be another six weeks! So I was done at that point and decided to get what I could find that I could get delivered as quickly as possible after waiting all summer for a new fridge. I found scratch and dent, walked in the door saw several different French door refrigerators which was the style I was looking at. They were varying manufacturers with prices clearly marked. Nobody breathing down my neck, but after I had been there for a while and thoroughly checked things out I was asked if I needed help. They signed me up for the warranty from GE right there on the premises as they are an authorized dealer. Not only that but they arranged for delivery the next day! With the big box stores you have to wait at least two weeks out for delivery. Not only did I get it the next day, but the delivery service was actually able to move my delivery time up to earlier in the day! The folks in the store were wearing masks and the delivery guys wore masks as well. Very professional. Saved me about $300 in the end! And I actually got my refrigerator and it is awesome- one small blemish on the side that I had to have the salesman point out to me, so unnoticeable. If you need an appliance ASAP this is the place to go! read more
