The store is a good store and has quiet a bit of product at a reasonable price. I was part of a group of ladies that went for a 4 day scrapbook retreat. The price of the retreat was really good, no meals provided, but she did have cereal and muffins, pop tarts, juice, milk, coffee for breakfast. Your group can bring in all their food or go out, I would suggest going out as there is no stove or oven to cook. .The crop room is good size and the tables are ok. There is a large flat screen tv and radio if that is your thing while you crop. The beds are great and the ac worked just fine, but there are only two restrooms with showers and if you filled the place with 14 well that may be a problem. THere was however plenty of hot water. now that's the pro's.
Now the cons: crickets, crickets, crickets and more crickets and I'm not talking about the ones you use to scrapbook. When brought to Susie (the owner) attention, it was like no big deal and its just something that we would have to put up with, well first thing I did was go to the store and buy bug spray and the war was on between us and the crickets. I do not want to pay money to go to a retreat and fight bugs all weekend and they were found in the bedrooms in a few of the beds. Well that is where I draw the line, I don't sleep with bugs and I don't want to have to worry allnight and day about the stupid things. This is a serious problem there and she needs to get something done about it.
Susie is a talker and that's ok to a point, the one thing that bothered me was her coming into the crop room showing people around that had come into the store and wanting us to hoop and holler about what a great time we were having.
she kept going on and on about how quiet we were, well we were busy with our scrapbooks, not there to entertain her guest that she is showing around the place. SHe should have showed them around without bothering her guest that were there on a retreat. The retreat center has only been open a short time and I think with time she will learn what to do and what not to do with her guest. There is room for improvement and hope that improvement will be made.
They were very nice ladies that work there, but they do have some things to learn about running a retreat center. read more
