What stood out the most was that unlike a shop we visited yesterday (I won't name it, but it's in Hickory), my son wasn't followed around by the owner/staff like he was up to no good (my son is 2 months shy of 7 at the time of this, and he kept his hands in his pockets most of the time, so I'm not sure why that person felt the need to make me uncomfortable by following my kid and getting wide-eyed every time he pointed to something or touched anything). We felt very welcome at Got Books, and I look forward to going back! Also, the coffee is great!

This was my favorite place to shop in Tryon. Unfortunately this weekend I and my daughter had an…read moreodd visit. We were looking at some items and I was holding two things I thought about purchasing. Suddenly the lady working there came and said "let me take those to the counter for you" and basically took them out of my hands as her eyes were looking into the bags we were holding. We were stunned as we had just arrived and we hadn't really even began to shop. She didn't do this to anyone else while we were there. It was so incredibly offensive I just got the items back from her and left. My daughter and I discussed it and I went back and told her how offended I had been. She apologized that I felt offended but it fell flat and I don't think she was actually sorry. It was so weird and disappointing. Needless to say, this is no longer my favorite store in Tryon.

To put her at ease I introduced myself and told her where I lived. I mentioned to her that I'd driven past this place and wondered what it was. She told me to make myself at home and to feel free to look around and take photos if I'd like.I saw some very old oil cans, extremely old large photographs of people long passed. If you can imagine it ; it's likely there. The nice lady also informed me that local cotton is routinely used to further decorate various pieces. To accentuate them if you will. I didn't know that. At any rate; if you have an eye for possible collectibles; this is a must stop for you! Intriguing place indeed!

All items are heavily discounted. I told my wife I needed a new pair of Sketchers. I don't know what came over her but she ended up buying me five pairs! Pardon the pun but I'm used to the shoe being on the other foot! As a husband and father I'm used to following them around various retail stores. Usually pushing the shopping cart for them. They would purchase several hundred dollars worth of things. I used to panic until I realized that in two days or so they would change their minds and return half of the stuff! As a guy, I don't shop for myself like that. I know what I need and I get it and leave! I told her I only wanted one pair. She's said all of my shoes were 50% off today only and some were 70% off regular retail. She said I need to replace all of my old shoes. I reminded her that unlike my daughter and herself; I don't change my mind and return anything ever! Hamrick's is a fully loaded clothing store for the entire family. The prices are incredible at times and I recommend them highly!
