These are some very tasty treats! We selected a variety of both cake and yeast donuts. First try was the blueberry. This is a cake style and it tastes exactly like a fresh blueberry. I actually hesitated to choose this one, but now I am so very glad I did! It was wonderful. The chocolate on the Angel Cream and Boston Cream was tasty without being over sweet. The yeast dough is so light and fluffy. Both are very satisfying. The vanilla cream in the Angel Cream donut is quite sweet, almost like a frosting The Boston cream custard was nicely done. Not over sweet, nice and smooth. Many of the donuts we selected have a sugar glaze that compliments the donut. The donut itself is not too sweet, and the sugar glaze adds just enough sweetness to make for an enjoyable treat. There is a small parking area behind the shop. Eating-in is no longer an option and the dining room has been turned into a storage area. There are bottled beverages in a cooler, and hot coffee is available. Cream & sugar on a table to add yourself. I would definitely stop by for more donuts from Scotty's when in this area. These are very tasty, light and fluffy donuts. read more

I worked with people from DuBois and they'd bring these donuts to the office on special occasssions. The office would go crazy and they would be gone in a flash. So now whenever we are nearby DuBois we stop at Scotty's. This place is a classic case of don't judge a book by its cover. This place is locally owned and operated for the last 30 years. It's located in the middle of town and operates out of the bottom of a house. The place has been ran hard, is worn down and it sees a lot of foot traffic. It's takeout only since covid hit and once they're gone they close for the day. The donuts here are so delicious. They have a wide assortment and I highly recommend the "giant" creme filled. I'd give it zero stars if I could. We drove there. I walked in and waited patiently while a man finished his order. An older woman walked in after me, pushed past me and leaned on the counter. The girl working then started to take the older woman's order after I'd been waiting. I politely said "excuse me, can I order?" Three times I repeated it as she acted like I wasn't even there and let the rude woman who'd pushed past me order. The donuts aren't that great. And definitely not worth being treated so rudely. I was in town visiting a friend and he suggested we get donuts. He was really talking these peanut butter cream donuts up and I wasn't going to get excited about them. I'm from Buffalo where we have Paula's Donuts. And they are a pretty big deal. Everyone has their hometown favorites and biases. I went in with bias, but came out on the other side with a new attitude and a new favorite donut place. I tried the chocolate iced peanut butter cream donut. It was a game changer. I liked the cream to donut ratio. I also tried the powder sugar with peanut butter cream and it was very delicious. You have to get there to try this peanut butter cream filled donut. Outstanding. We were traveling to Philly from OH and we stayed in DuBois. I read some reviews and said the donuts were delicious. The reviews were NOT wrong. When their hours are 5:30am-when sold out, you know they'll be amazing. We got a baker's 1/2 doz. The peanut butter filled, crème filled, and glazed were amazing. Sinful & deliciously sweet donuts. I don't often splurge on donuts, but this place appeared to be popular with the locals, so we had to patronize. We could smell the sweet dough from the parking lot, extra points for that alone. The sweet treats offered did not disappoint; my donut was pillowy soft and indulgently sweet. Great place to grab a donut! We got a peanut butter and an Oreo donut. I thought the peanut butter was really good. The Oreo was good too but more on the sweeter side. Every few years we road-trip from Buffalo down to the DuBois / Punxy area for a winter family getaway. This trip was our second time stopping at Scotty's, and I've been looking forward to it ever since our first visit. These homemade donuts are AMAZING. To put it in perspective for the Buffalo crowd, I love Paula's and Donut Kraze, but Scotty's has them both beat. For realz! I think it is a matter of Scotty's literally being one guy from a literal line of Scottys who have been making these phenomenal donuts for so long in just this one spot, that they have evolved to utter perfection. All of the flavors we've tried here are excellent, but Scotty's is known for their peanut butter offerings. And I'm a peanut butter NUT. ;-) And they do it SO. EXCEPTIONALLY. WELL. HERE! The peanut butter cream donut is filled with a perfectly flavored and textured PB cream, it's point-blank heavenly. The whole donut is glazed, then topped with a sublime peanut butter icing. It is a PB lovers paradise. My whole fam' was pleased with their picks, every donut is delicious here. The shop itself is adorbs too. Its vintage charm is entirely authentic. It hasn't changed since the last time we were in, and hasn't changed for years before that. It is real retro comfort, with booths and a couple counter spaces to belly up with the locals and enjoy some sweets. It's old-school here, right down to no website, and I dig it! They also sell some gifts and toys, including $10 Scotty's tees. Our kids will proudly be rockin' new tees at school, reppin' Scotty's in the 716. ;-) One important tip--get here early if possible, as flavors can sell out! As I write this review, we're home now, but somehow a three hour drive down, six round trip, doesn't seem that long or unreasonable for me to head down for some more Scotty's donuts before work tomorrow. Perfect place for a hot cup of coffee and a sweet treat. The friendly and welcoming staff even offered to put on a fresh pot when I asked for a cup of decaf. All their doughnuts are comparable to Dunkin Doughnuts, it is well worth going there first thing in the morning. Service is always great. Solid four stars; I would return. Sour cream donuts (glazed--why would anyone not choose glaze??) were a tad disappointing, just because reviews indicated they were the speciality. Not bad, mind you, just not the best I've ever had. Vanilla angel was good but again not the best I've had. I really enjoyed the peanut butter iced/peanut butter filled.
