We hosted a pig roast for my daughter's wedding weekend and we couldn't be more pleased with our experience. From the planning and menu selection to delivery and serving our guests - Scott was professional, organized and guided our decisions to ensure we had a fabulous event. The FOOD was amazing - not only is the pig a spectacular presentation but everything was so delicious and plentiful! The sides and sauces were fantastic and our guests really enjoyed the pork and chicken - and I don't want to forget about the banana pudding! I'm so happy we have a ton of leftovers! read more

Scott's Pig Roast - a pig roasting on a grill - Barbeque Near Me - Marcellus, Michigan

See all

Scott's catered an event I was attending and I wasn't overly impressed. I personally didn't care for the flavor of the pork and the meat was sitting in so much liquid (I assume it was water to keep it from drying out while traveling and waiting to be eaten). We were under the impression that it would be a half pig but turns out it was cut up in pans ready to eat and it was all dark meat so I'm assuming it was all pork butts that he roasted. Don't get me wrong, I love pork butts I just thought it was going to be a 1/2 pig so there would be some loin in with the rest of the dark meat. It was served with buns (just average store buns). The house-made corn dip with chips was really good and spicy. The cowboy caviar with chips was also good. It was corn, beans, peppers and tomatoes. It could've used some salt and it was a bit watery but I still liked it. The baked beans were alright, nothing special. Small beans with pulled pork, brown sugar and bbq sauce. They were also a bit runny but they seemed to thicken up a bit the longer they sat on the burner keeping warm. I wasn't a fan of the mac & cheese. I liked that they used cavatappi pasta, but it was very bland and was really soupy. I later read the menu to see that my assumption of it being made with cheese sauce was accurate. There was no baked cheese on top that I think would've helped maybe. The potato salad was made with quite large chunks of potato (larger chunks than I prefer) and they were a bit undercooked in my opinion. There was also black olives and carrots in it which I also did not like. Most of us questioned if it was store bought potato salad with added olives in it. The cole slaw was nothing special. It was very large pieces of shredded cabbage & carrots and seemed like maybe it came right from GFS and into a pan. They did bring 4 different kinds of bbq sauce that they make that were great. I personally wouldn't be ordering from here when I see them at a fair/festival/event nor will I pay to have them cater an event I'm hosting. I am glad I was able to try it and form my own opinion. I've even world class bbq and this was not it. I've attended Memphis in May a few times and also been to the Carolina's and Texas for bbq that have won many awards so I do feel like my opinion of this is accurate. read more

Great good. We have used Scott's a few times and everything is always delicious! Highly recommend

We used Scott's for a pig roast at my house for my employees. The overall experience was great, Scott helped me with the order, timing, and made sure we had everything we were going to need. Scott showed up and I could tell from the smells coming off the flattop he brought that this was going to be good! Everyone loved the pig, but we also had some amazing brisket, wings, and sides (the big hit was the cheesy potatoes). Scott was really fun to talk to and he took great care of us. The setup they have to reheat everything and keep it warm for hours was really nice and made it easy to consolidate leftovers into what essentially were disposable hotel pans (surprisingly at the end of the day there wasn't much left). And the price was right as well! So I would highly recommend Scott's for anything on his menu, but get the pig, that's not something you have everyday and he does it right. DELICIOUS! read more

Friendly service and great bbq! Glad to have stumbled across this while in the area. Tried the pork sandwich and shared the sides.

Frist time I had Scott's pig roast was at the Allegan fair I could not decide what I wanted the man that was working the says we have a sandwich called undecided like give it to me I fell in love with I would have got more than one keep trying to catch the food truck but I'm either at work are droughts read more

I would give them a 4 star for the taste of food! Bbq was good but the owner is abrasive, non flexible and his staff is extremely rude! We hired them for our wedding and the server literally called multiple people at our wedding a "Pus*y" if they didn't take both meats. If you want good food and can handle dealing with rude people go ahead and work with this company. Otherwise find a business who can provide good food AND some manners. read more

My husband and I ordered pulled pork and chicken for 100 guests this past weekend. I would post pictures but everything is long gone. Everything was beyond fantastic! Our guests are still raving about it. We cannot thank Scott's Pig Roast enough and we cannot wait to order from them again. read more

A pig roast may not be for everyone when it comes to wedding food, however, if you are planning your wedding, and even considering it, use Scott. My fiancee and I decided that we wanted to do a pig roast, and I spoke with three other caterers before calling Scott. I knew almost immediately that he was our guy. He was friendly and knowledgeable on the phone, and he helped steer us in the right direction as far as the menu was concerned (I'd never planned a wedding before, and Scott talked me through it, helping me to develop some diverse, but cost effective choices). He also added perogis for our party, an item that isn't on his menu, but that he made special for us. They were delicious! I also felt he was always looking out for me. In a couple of different instances, situations arose where he could have taken advantage of me and my wedding planning inexperience and gotten some easy money, rather, he explained to me how I could save myself some time and expense. Working with Scott was a great experience. On the day of our wedding, Scott's employee, Brandon, came to do our pig roast (we also had chicken quarters, broccoli salad, garden salad and apple pie). He was on time and bent over backwards to make us happy. He even cut our cake for us when we discovered that the venue didn't provide someone. He went so far above and beyond. We had a reception of about 110 people, and we had more than enough food (which we got to take home). Several people raved to me about the meal, many saying it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Like I said earlier, a pig roast for a wedding isn't for everyone, but if you are interested in delicious, hot food that is coming right from a cooker and on to a plate, rather than sitting in a warming tray, you might want to consider it. And if you are considering it, do yourself a favor and call Scott. read more

They do a fantastic job! All their food is delicious from the meat to the sides! Scott and his staff do an excellent job of keeping it stocked up and of cleaning up. I highly recommend using them for any event! read more

First we want to say Thank you to Scott's Pig Roast and especially to Diane who made the delivery to us. We had so many compliments on the Pork, Mac & Cheese and BBQ sauces. We will be using Scott's again for my sons Grad party when he graduates. I would highly recommend Scott's Pig Roast to anyone that wants to cater a party. The only criticism we had is that we had too much food for the number of people, but it was our first time catering a graduation party so lesson learned. Overall we had a great experience with Scott's and will be using them again!! read more
