They do everything from keys (including "digital chip" key clones) to vast amounts of nuts and bolts, SAE and metric, tools, supplies, home/industrial hardware. They are not Grainger or Lee's. They are not Lowes or Menards. Their prices are sometimes high, but they don't sell cheap gear. I wished they'd sell lumber and plants, but maybe it's better that they don't. They get five stars for being the best HARDWARE store in the area. You don't have to buy a huge blister pack to get just one or two of an item. Their clerks know what they have, and it's a good idea to ask them. They sometimes have better alternatives in mind, and their selection is vast for the size store they operate; they can save you a lot of time, unlike the big box stores, where there are no real specialists except the Big Item sales people. The search for crookedneck squash seeds is over! My grandma had her heart set on finding a specific…read moretype of squash seed, and thus started our quest in which we visited 5 home/garden supply stores (including this store). Yes I was greatly relieved that this friendly local business had the variety of seeds my grandma needed to complete her garden this year! The store owner had answered my grandma's phone call before we arrived, answered her questions and personally helped my grandma find the seeds she needed from the shelf we she arrived. Customer service doesn't get any better than that. This was my first time coming to this business. It doesn't look like much on the outside, and the inside is small and has an older look/layout lacking accessibility features. And sadly I was told soon they will no longer be selling paint as that part of their business is going out.

I got answers like; We don't work on that brand (Ariens), to we can get to it in two young three weeks. Not to mention huge differences in price. I finally found a local shop in Charlestown that was reasonable and could get to it in 3 to 4 days. I was on my way to the shop to confirm them picking up my mower and turn around time. My route took me down hwy 403 right past Holmes Ace Hardware. I decided to stop in and talk to them since they sell Zero Turn mowers. I asked who they use for repairs and service. I was told they have their own shop on property and do their own repairs and service. I asked if they took walk in repairs. Yes they do. They gave me a reasonable estimate and said they would try to pick the mower up that same afternoon. I was beyond happy I had decided to stop in. Later that same afternoon they picked up my mower. Unbelievably the next afternoon they called me and said the mower was ready and they wanted to bring it back to me. WOW! Holmes repaired my mower within 24 hrs and for a reasonable price! I was ecstatic because my yard was needing cutting. Holmes will be my first call for any future repairs. I've already told two of my neighbors about Holmes mower repair.
