Scott Hill Studios is in a small coverted house right on Washington Ave. Parking lot in rear. Very clean & professional shop for tattoos and piercings. Well lit & very comfortable. They also have higher standards than a lot of other shops. Remember they are artists and the respect has to be mutual. I found them through a friend who had a very nice sleeve done there. I've had 3 pieces by Damon and they all came out great. Good pricing too! Highly recommended. read more

After taking a break from getting tattoos I decided to start on my back. Friends told me about Libby Lee so I looked at her online portfolio. The next day I ran down with a deposit and got an appointment. Two tattoos later I can say Libby is creative, talented and works with me to get the design I want. I think I like the conversations almost--almost as much as the artwork. I'm sorry I did my arms before I met her b/c I cannot see the tattoos I asked her to put on my back. I am jealous of the ppl at the beach who will get to enjoy them. She also worked on the fly making additions as she worked. If you are looking for a tattoo artist you found her in this review. -From the guy who just got the Fury. read more

I am retired so getting a tattoo was the last thing on my mind until the loss of my precious Chinese Shar Pei. I was referred to Damon at Scott Hill Tattoo by a friend and could not be happier with the result. I started out asking for her paw print but as I got to know Damon and saw his talent as an artist my vision evolved. Damon made me comfortable by taking me through the steps which included sketching Luna before completing the tattoo. His talent was evident and I was comfortable entrusting this to him. I am extremely pleased with the result and would recommend Damon if you are so inclined to get one. He told me about older women he has done work for and it reinforced the fact that age is just a number! I now have me precious, sweet, Luna with me forever. read more

I had a pretty good experience here. Everyone is very welcoming. and my tattoos came out amazing. but if you are a younger girl, I probably wouldn't recommend going to Damon, the only thing he really talked about was all of his sexual experiences, and trying to explain how good he is in bed without me even saying a word or bringing up anything in that nature, I would try and change the subject, and it would immediately go back to him only using the words "fuck" and "sex" in every sentence it was honestly draining, and if Damon is reading this, part of the reason i didn't take breaks during my tattoos was to be polite, get my pretty tattoo and get the hell out of there. The last time I was there at the end of the session, he said that he would definitely have sex with me and I just had to uncomfortably laugh it off like everything else he would say like complementing me profusely, so if you're a younger girl and don't want a 40 something year old man trying to convince you and himself that being with a 19-year-old is great or something i wouldn't really recommend :) but as I said the tattoos came out amazing, and the conversation was good sometimes, but time to find a new tattoo artist! read more

When it comes to something as personal & permanent as a tattoo don't consider anywhere else in bergen county but Scott Hill Tattoo . Damon not only had the patience for this black white extremely detailed tattoo but he blew it out the water with the end result. The shop itself is beautiful. I got my second tattoo over the weekend, and I was very happy that I chose this shop based on the Yelp reviews. I had my first tattoo done years ago at a different shop near my house, but I didn't want to return there. I'm very happy with the overall experience and how my tattoo looks. Damon was super friendly and made sure I was happy with the design and placement, and I felt very comfortable with him and the shop. Now I kind of regret having my first tattoo done elsewhere because compared to my new tattoo, it looks kind of $hitty. I had a quote done from a book I read to my son, and the font is perfect. Damon took the time to work carefully, and the lettering is impeccable. I would definitely recommend this shop and return here for my next tattoo. read more

I am a reoccurring client of Scott and Damon. They are both very forthcoming and insightful artists. Anyone I've ever met or interacted that worked there has also been very kind. I've never witnessed any anything but positive interactions while at the shop. Everyone is friendly to one another. The shop is a fun, clean, and welcoming space. Highly recommended to all! read more

Can't get any better that Jessica. This was my first time here and had a great experience. I have a few other tattoo's that I got somewhere else. She is a perfectionist and made sure everything was exactly as I wanted it. The Place is very upscale and spotless and much bigger than any other places I've been to. They even had a mini frig with water bottles and soda for customers. (I appreciate the added touches) I would highly recommend her and will definitely be returning soon. Don't hesitate to come here as you will be as pleased as I was. read more

After 44 years I finally had a tattoo that represented my military unit in which I was station with during the Vietnam and Cold War era's. All I can say is that my tattoo came out way beyond my expectations. My artist Damon is a true professional in every sense of the word. The shop is well-maintained, sanitary and very professional. They have a very high standard of moral ethics I should include. I was honored by receiving a discount being a Veteran in which I did not ask for nor expect. Absolutely a 5 + Star rating... read more

I had nothing short of an amazing experience at Scott Hill tattoo with Andrew. I was envisioning a floral sternum piece and wanted a second opinion. I looked into a few nearby shops, and none really gave me the satisfaction I was looking for. Then, I had a consultation with Andrew. He gave me his honest, raw input and really helped me decide what I was going to do. I made an appointment that day for the following weekend, only a few days away. When I came in, Andrew had drawn up a beautiful sketch and I was in love with it. Now, I'm left with a tattoo that I'm totally in love with, and I can't imagine having had it done anywhere else. I owe a huge thanks to Andrew, Jessica, and the entire staff at Scott Hill for being so wonderful and accommodating. I will be sending everyone I know there & might even be back for more work soon. read more

I don't have a lot of experience with tattoo shops, but this place was exactly what I was looking for for my first tattoo. I found Damon on Instagram and had a tattoo in mind that was/is dear to my heart. He did an amazing job and I was super comfortable, informed and entertained through both of my sessions. I met Scott briefly and he was very nice and welcoming. I'd recommend the place to my friends or family, which is about the highest compliment I can give. read more

Last month I was able to make an appointment to get my ear re-pierced here. It was such a nice space, and the employees were all so helpful and kind!! I felt very safe with the clear COVID guidelines, and my (re)piercing was quick, simple, and healed wonderfully. Overall gave off such positive vibes! Would consider going back there for a tattoo in the future read more

Hanna Q. I had a very good experience at Scott Hill Tattoo. Priscilla Torres was very welcoming and made me feel very comfortable. Priscilla is very good at her job. I highly recommend this place. I called SHT to ask two simple questions. Whoever picked up the phone was rude and his attitude sucked. Discouraged me to even ask my second question. I don't want to give them a bad review, because I bet its other employees are PROBABLY nice (I doubt it based off the other reviews on here), but first impressions are everything. The man who picked up the phone had just lost 2 potential clients. Taking my business elsewhere...Go to Handsome Devil Tattoo Company in Saddle Brook. Best customer service and an awesome shop! read more

Went here for my first tattoo with my daughter. Very clean and sterile which is important. Scott made us feel comfortable and genuinely had our best interests in mind. He was concerned that my daughter and I could not agree on a tattoo and suggested maybe we come back another time after we give it more thought. Finally agreed on a tattoo after Scott made multiple renderings. Love the work he did!! read more

The absolute worst customer service ever... I called to ask 2 reasonable questions and by the 2nd question the operator hung up on me, I didn't even have the chance to ask him! I was nervous to get my nose pierced but Scott was super friendly and talked me through the entire process! I had a really great experience getting tattooed here. It's very professional and comfortable. All of my previous tattoos were done when I lived in New England, so I had to search for an artist in jersey. The first two shops I contacted were not good at replying to emails, which is always a turn off. I also felt a lack of interest in doing a smaller piece, which is silly because I may very well go back for more work in the future. Then I remembered this shop very close in Closter, and looked at their website. I was immediately impressed because Scott had written about doing a smaller piece and how those can be some of the most memorable. I also liked the photos of the shop, it looked different then other shops, more upscale, just nicer. I was a little worried at the lack of reviews on here, but took a leap of faith anyway. Everything went great, Scott is really cool and laid back. I liked that there wasn't loud metal music playing and the shop was very clean. The price was fair and I love how my tattoo looks! I would definitely recommend this shop. read more

I came here quite some time ago for my navel piercing. Scott, the owner, did the piercing and I'm very happy with it. Since the only other piercings I have are on my ears, I was very nervous about this navel piercing. Scott was kind, patient, helpful, and kept me calm throughout the entire process. He was also very informative with teaching me how to properly care for and clean the piercing. It healed normally with no infections or problems. read more

I got my first-ever tattoo from Scott in May of 2015 after he was strongly recommended by a friend of mine (who has LOTS of ink!) I found Scott to be super professional and friendly and put me right at ease. The shop is clean and open and ... I don't know how to say this... Family friendly? It wasn't a creepy, hole-in-the-wall biker looking place or anything that ANYONE would not feel comfortable going into. And my tattoo is AWESOME! I get so many compliments on it, the colors, the detail... It's really beautiful and I'm so proud of it (even though, all I did was sit there... Scott did all the work! So I guess HE should be proud.) I have at least two more planned. Gotta think about what I want. What I DON'T have to think about is who will be doing them!! Thanks again, Scott, for a great first time! :-) read more

Nice work, but very poor customer service. Last Friday the 13th, I decided to give them a call just out of curiosity if they were doing something special, like discounted flash. I NEVER asked if they were doing $13 tattoos. I know they are an ~upscale~ tattoo shop, but I have been to 2 other ~upscale~ tattoo shops that did fun Friday the 13th flash for $30-$200 per design. When I asked about this, the woman on the phone gave me a rude attitude and said, "uh, no. We don't do that here." She spoke to me like I was a moron. I have 13 tattoos all done by extremely talented artists. I'm not an idiot when it comes to tattoos. I really wanted to get some work done here but after that horrible experience over the phone, I would never give this place my business. Avoid this shop like the plague. read more

Amazing experience and first tattoo at Scott Hill - the artist who did mine is Andrew and he did head portraits (shadings) of my two dogs who passed away (English Bull Terriers) on my upper back. My daughter wanted her nose pierced and we came here because of all the positive feedback from other clients. My oldest daughter had her nose pierced elsewhere and it was not a good experience. This was quite the opposite. Reasonably priced, awesome people who are patient, calming and willing to answer all our questions. The tattoo artist working on a gentleman behind us was doing an incredible job with his client. She is thrilled with her piercing and I have already recommended this business to two friends. Give them a try!! You will not be disappointed. read more

Weird energy there. I've walked in about five times in two months, never welcomed. Looked around 20 min looking at some stuff. No one spoke to me or even looked interested I was there. Multiple times. Sucks because they are near where I live. Asked for a look book once. Felt like I interrupted their lives. Anyway, they don't do that. Look at our Instagram. Okay but a little awkward. What I saw looked fine and they seemed to be getting along with the persons they were tattooing but. . . Made me uncomfortable. And I know this may read a over dramatic, but I'm being 100: I felt an odd underlying mild racism. Not overt but I was the only POC guy like me there every time and they didn't seem to have trouble talking to anyone else that stopped in though perhaps they were more familiar with them. I have some ink all over but I look kinda straight to some people so maybe I was pegged a browser or just a square off the street? Or they have a group of people they were cool with. Idk. Wanted to look forward to it 'cause it my local shop, but didn't feel the spirit. Totally could have been a weird read I guess or they are too cool for school? Anyway wouldn't tell anyone not to go there or give them a chance but if it feels weird when you come in, it's not you it's them. Trust me I hope I'm off base, would rather be wrong. read more

I first came here when I was looking for an artist who I can work with to cover up a pretty decent sized back tattoo. One of those tats I got when I was really young, yes, you know how that story goes... I've spoken to many different artists and honestly... NONE of them listened to what I wanted. They all had these ideas that they wanted to do to cover up my back piece instead of wanting to know what I wanted to do. Scott greeted me at the door right away and talked to me about my back piece. He listened to what I had to say and what I wanted to do and explained to me what could be done and what could not be done. My husband who was with me wanted a certain type of tattoo, a trendy west coast type, and Scott was very honest with him on the reasons why he doesn't recommend it and that not many artists can actually mimic the way that artist had done that tattoo. I was blown away by his honesty. This showed me that he wasn't just about money. He's a true artist who loves to do what he does. I was going to book with another place and let that other artist put what he wanted on my back but I met with one of Scott's tattoo artist, Damon, who listened to my idea and made it come to life. Everyone at the shop is very friendly and laid back. I haven't had the pleasure of getting to really know the other 2 artist but they always pop out to say hello and see how you're doing. The art work in Scott's shop is amazing! All 4 are very talented artists and they run a very clean, tight shop. They all really care about you and the art work they will put on our bodies. If something will not work they will let you know and that's because they want the best for us. My husband and I have had 4 pretty decent sized pieces done by Damon. We absolutely LOVE the work he's done for us and we are both already planning another large piece. Go ahead, stop in and speak to one of the artists. You will not be disappointed. read more

I called this place to schedule a tattoo for my sisters, mom and myself. My sister is under 18 but she was going with our mom so I figured it would be fine. The guy on the phone said they don't tattoo minors for many different reasons. That was absolutely fine with me so I said thank you and thought I was going to hang up. But instead the guy decided to lecture me about how my little sister shouldn't be getting a tattoo because when he was 19 he had no idea what he wanted and did it anyway, and that my sister may think she knows what she wants but she really has no idea. It made me soo angry that I actually hung up in the middle of his lecture because my sister wasn't getting a meaningless tattoo. All 4 of us, including my mom, were getting tattoos in honor of her just beating breast cancer. I understand that they want to warn you about minors bodies growing, etc, but to tell me my sister doesn't know what she wants and will probably hate it in a few years when you don't even know her or what she wants is just rude and unnecessary. Not to mention it's her body and she's paying to have it done so she should be able to do what she wants. Anyways, we ended up at Screaming Ink in Fair Lawn and all had it done and they came out amazing!! :) read more
