    When it comes to education and awareness, I certainly appreciate the efforts by folks who are trying to encourage others. No matter what the topic is, I know how valuable it is for people to make informed decisions, so I am thankful for the presentation held this morning. A panel of speakers wanted to ensure that our community had knowledge of the resources available in caring for our kupuna. Hats off to everyone involved in putting this on. Wannette Gaylord shared an important message about licensed versus unlicensed care homes. We all heard the horror stories and it's true, you get what you pay for. If you care for your kupuna, you will want them in a safe place. Stephanie Asato shared important information about financial planning for long term kupuna care. While it is a sensitive topic, she encouraged us to have that important discussion with loved ones and never assume your family knows your long term health care wishes. If there's limited funds and your decisions are not made known.....your family may not place you into the best care scenario. Scott Gardner talked about the silver tsunami and how we are seeing an overwhelming amount of kupuna, not having enough options for long term care. In other words, supply and demand. This free seminar was so helpful in providing step by step information in regards to kupuna care and long term health care planning. We are all going to be affected by this somehow, whether it's us taking care of our kupuna or strategizing for our own long term health care. Again, BIG mahalo for the info and refreshments today!

As part of this retreat, a group of us were tasked to do a group presentation to address three questions. To help us prepare for this presentation, the firm hired Alt to facilitate the group discussion that would provide the basis of the presentation. What I loved about Alt and his style was that he knows how important it is to understand the group dynamic, so, prior to the retreat, he met with each participant to get to know us and find out what we individually hoped to get out of this retreat as well as our concerns. This was also to help him better facilitate the group discussion. At the retreat itself, he did a fantastic job of facilitating the meeting by starting us off with the goal of the meeting and laying out ground rules to ensure we would stay focused on the topic at hand and be able to hear every participant's opinions, thoughts and questions in an organized and respectful manner. He made sure to block off time at the end to allow us time to discuss how we wanted to do the presentation and practice it. During this rehearsal, he gave us feedback and his thoughts on it. While he didn't have the chance to see it, the presentation went well. The second time the firm hired him was to do a training at our annual firm meeting. He did a fantastic job there, too. He reached out to people prior to the meeting to get a sense of the firm and be able to tailor his presentation to the group. He was mindful of the time as he had to cut some parts short. I loved the stories and anecdotes he shared to really bring in the points home about finding the work/personal life balance. Highly recommend Alt for meeting facilitation and trainings. Ever since the retreat, I have always looked forward to the next time I get to work with him.

    At first they seemed like too good to be true for $49 a year they act as a registered agent but…read moreread the "terms and conditions" which says they will receive up to 15 correspondence per year and any additional are charged a fee. Also they will not accept any correspondence, only specifically from the Secretary of State and certain notices. In addition, they charge various fees for filing the new federal FBOI ($9), EIN( $50), Tradename ($$$), etc. As part of the "formation package" They offer web presence, free email address, domain address, SSL certificate, phone number, etc but it's a 90 day trial. Normally it will cost you an annual fee to get this kind of service from elsewhere so don't get misled here. After doing due diligence it would be better off doing some research and doing it yourself. As per the registered agent I think you can think of somewhere you can be reached via mail. I seen some use UPS mailbox which offers a Hawaii street address instead of a PO Box which disallowed but that will cost you $240 a year. Bottom line is read carefully what you are signing up for and various fees for additional services. Their final cost doesn't include the state's filing fees, as well. It seems it's a game of phone tag with them. They do return your call but if you miss the call you must replay the phone tag game.

Prompted me to contact then for the first time. I ended up on the phone for hours and I never got through from 9am onward. Finally, after trying again around 3pm, it says their office was currently closed and only open from 9am to 5pm. So they're also not meeting the legal requirements of being a registered agent. I tried to contact them electronically, and received no response. My only option was to tell my credit card company to do a charge back, contact the BBB to hopefully help others stay away from this company, and switch to another company.
