I contacted Scott Gardner on behalf of a California trust that had a beneficiary in Hawaii who was concerned that receiving an inheritance would negatively affect their Medicaid eligibility. I was referred to Scott by both a local law firm and a local real estate agent. This was an unusual situation - the trust could not influence the beneficiary's decisions so we needed an independent third party to provide advice and guidance. I would give Scott Gardner & Co (shout out to Naomi) at 20+ review. They have been by my side since the first week I had to deal with my sister. A Maui resident had a health issue that left me POA. It has been over 3 1/2 years of constant support from Scott and his staff (Naomi - a rock star). I am forever grateful for their calm demeanor during my crisis when I sounded like a crazy person (which I was). Navigating through all of Hawaii Quest/Medicaid then Medicare is impossible. well, Scott, Gardner and Company do know the regulations and process. You but abide by certain parameters as instructed by the Medicaid forms, and you apply. In my opinion, they know them very well, and can maneuver around them, and within them to manipulate the customer. they have a good front people. People that are just a little bit too sweet and nice in your face yet all the while knowing somewhere along the line, they're going to stick it to you. All of this in the name of helping. we were advised of some things, but left in the dark about others. Namely, the period of time after you meet qualifications to apply and the length of time for your application to be approved, which we are learning is between three and six months. That gap of time puts the caretaker in epicurean situation because they have to wait for a retroactive payment from the Medicaid approval. And if it's not approved or takes a longer time, then that's a longer time that the caretaker is at risk. So they suggest that we pay the caretaker ourselves it would I would think, behoove a professional, to advise customer that this is , a situation that is going to arise. To us it was a very serious and very surprisingly unexpected situation that occurred yet it was never mentioned to us, or even given any attention at all by Scott Gardner. Who knows about this did they left that part out. I also felt like just because my family and I live in California and we're not for my wife that we were less than citizens or something. That is how I felt anyway and how I felt that was being treated. I'm just being honest and what I said is true . Whoever gets involved with this company I guess is with any other one as well. Be careful. It never is everything it seems to be and you don't find that out until later that about sums it up. My name is george boyd. And I live in the San Francisco Bay area. In addition to that, we were told that they would not cash this check because my mom died before the date to file the application. We felt like that was going to happen about a week before and asked them to hold off before they found the application and can't cash the check. They said they would. but as it turns out, they didn't they proceeded to charge us like 60% of that refunded amount as a fee for doing whatever I don't know but it left a really sour taste in my mouth out that whole thing went down. For nearly two years, my family and I have been without medical coverage.
