Rosado Works - Tell Luis What You're Hoping For & He'll Meet You All The Way- If Not Take It Further.

    Rosado Works

I've been holding onto a small bone-color jewelry cabinet case that my mom received from my father…read moreback in the 60s. Somehow, when hubs and I moved from Westchester to the Catskills in '24, the top corner broke during transport. I couldn't part with this cherished heirloom piece- so I tried to DIY it. Tbh, I'm really not a DIYer- I rather pay someone to do it than me buying a gazillion products to repair something myself. Tucked away in the scenic town of High Falls, NY, Rosado Works is a rare find in a region full of furniture repair shops- but many that don't work on small pieces. While those repair shops overlook smaller pieces like mine, Rosado Works specializes in giving these items (and larger ones too) the attention they deserve. Luis isn't just a woodworker, but a true artisan. He treated that one specific jewelry case with the respect it deserved, carefully repairing the worn look of it, refreshing the finish and bringing it back to life. Honestly, my jewelry case now stands sturdier- hell, even prettier than I ever imagined. I also brought a green painted chair with metal studs on the seat that needed one of its sticks on the back to be permanently placed. And while I tried using wood glue to hold the stick in place, that stick would hold for about a minute and fall all over again. So I needed Luis' help. Again, he went beyond the 'wood glue' because in reality, my chair needed more surgery than that. Just a heads-up: there might be a bit of a wait, as your pieces won't be the only ones on his bench. But he always gets to them- and staying in touch via text keeps things smooth. Totally worth the patience for the quality of work he delivers. Ca$h, Zelle & Venmo payments accepted. If you have something that matters- whether it's a family piece or a flea market find, this is the place to trust with it.

I knew I couldn't just take home because the item was heavy as heck and if I took home I would put off and procrastinate. Wilson is centrally located on Washington ave north haven. Owner graciously met me downstairs, removed item from my car and took the time to inspect the item and point out the "gem" I procured as he compared my lounge to the "prefab won't-last-five-years chaise lounges of today. He asked questions on where the item will be stored (high traffic va low traffic areas of home) and when i answered he provided a plethora of fabrics to consider. Most importantly, he did NOT expect full payment that day! Whew!! What a relief. Starting a new business is expensive so not having to make full payment before work commenced made my day. Chair is absolutely a transformation. Comfortable and I can't wait to use as a prop. Love the oatmeal color I chose.

The years had not been kind to the chair, fabric needed to be replaced, padding worn and arm of the chair completely broken. Rich was great from start to finish. He was able to help us find the right fabrics and bring life back to the chair - looks good as new and still holds that antique quality they just don't make anymore! And a family heirloom should now see more generations to come. Thanks again Rich! Service and Skill are top notch. Rob

So I found these folks just a few miles away from where I live. They were attentive, came over in a moments notice to give me a quote and were very communicative. The worker came over, saw the cosmetic issues (small board replacement in master bedroom floor, circular plug hole in kitchen floor and scratch/scuff marks in another bedroom). A few days later, FFbM texted me to go over the deets, it would be either $500 or $600 depending on what process I wished to happen, so I chose the easiest option which was the cheapest. (I should note the flooring guy who came to the house, also quoted that price to me). Last week I stopped by their storefront to pay a 50% deposit and schedule the appt for Tues, Feb 14. She told me mornings were best for everyone and I asked if we could do it later and she said no, 830am was the best time so I said yes. 830 came and went, as did 930 and 1030am. No call, no message, no texts. Nothing. I called the number, they were closed on Tuesdays. 1130am, I get a knock on the door by the same worker who quoted me. I complained that she (the owner) told me 830am and it's 3 hrs later and I have things to do on the outside world. He said he was on another job and was unapologetic. Then showed me the work order and underneath the timed appt, it said "show up anytime". Um no. I re-showed him the scuff marks and scratches as well as the plug hole and board replacement and he said it would cost double that. I showed him the text and reminded him that he saw it all weeks prior and gave me the same quote for everything. He denied it. "She said you just needed a board repair in the bedroom." Um no. I know what I need done and I specifically told her in person and in our text communications. I asked how much for fixing just the hole/board and he said $500 all in. I complained b/c I know even with raw materials/covid and a profit margin and labor included that it was too steep to justify. I told him I would contest the other $250 or put a stop on the initial credit card payment. He said he's merely an hourly worker and has nothing to do with the day-to-day procedures at the shop and if I dont pay the $250 for the work, then it would come out of his pocket. Seems rather punitive, the woe is me line. So I refused service and told him I wasnt mad at him per se, just his boss and misinformation. He left. 10 minutes later, he knocked on my door and said his boss told him to give me my money back, which he did, in cash. So that's nice. FFbM doesnt have a ton of reviews on the internet, but a few are negative and sounds like what I went through, including one user calling it a "bait and switch" which is how I would characterize my situation.
