I was referred to Dr. Eric Gardner by two friends who had their knee replacements performed by him…read more My right leg was bowed from a long time knee injury. Dr. Gardner walked in with the x-rays with a big smile, said he had shared them with his staff as he had not seen a knee so bad. My first thought was he couldn't help me. Dr. Gardner welcomed the challenge! I call him my miracle surgeon. I like him because he is straight forward, gives you the good, bad and ugly of what could happen. I was so grateful he was willing to take on the challenge. His staff is very welcoming, knowledgeable and assisted me through the entire process pre-surgery to recovery. They were there if I had any questions. I had not had surgery or been in a hospital for 34 years when my daughter was borne. The entire process was new to me and amazed at what is required now to have surgery. Dr. Gardner is very caring and compassionate about his patients. Even the nurses at the hospital said the same thing. The surgery was a success, my leg is straight and I was able to come home that same day. I did everything Dr. Gardner instructed me to do, setup therapy right away (day after surgery), work on keeping leg straight, move and did the exercises I was sent home with. I was blessed, the pain was minimal with the knee (I have a high tolerance for pain which got me in this position). I had a hiccup during my recovery, encountered excessive bleeding the first week (which is unusual). Dr. Gardner was right on top of it. I saw him every other day for a week as we worked on getting it under control. After a week, he needed to go back in and get the problem stopped. Dr. Gardner was awesome found the problem, kept me in the hospital for 2.5 days to insure there was no infection, checked on me himself every morning. He was so caring throughout the process, very professional. After release from the hospital I started therapy did everything I was instructed to do by the therapist and Dr. Gardner. 3 months later I achieved 120 degree bend and am able to do the things I want without pain or discomfort. I highly recommend Dr. Gardner! He is a miracle worker however you do have to put the work in to get the results he tells you are possible. Thank you Dr. Gardner and your staff!!

I have been receiving Botox for 11+ years for migraines. My PCP referred me to Neurology with UC…read moreHealth and 6 months for an appointment. I am a medical director and understand the challenges, however this is unacceptable for a larger healthcare system. I will be looking with my insurance and will travel down to Denver with another provider at this point. Don't get me wrong, they did have 3 appointment cancellations in two weeks, but I am in clinic on that date, so there is my personal aspect leading into failure to schedule as well. Update: Was seen a few weeks ago and they submitted for prior authorization. Get a call today and rescheduled. Frustration is growing for someone who depends on this treatment for quality of life. Guess a call to the patient advocate will be placed. Update: Received a call one hour and thirty minutes prior to appointment. They are not sure if I am coming in at 11 am or 12 pm. I informed them that I was told to be there for 12 but the appointment would show for 11 am. Then I am told the appointment has to be canceled. When requesting another location, I am told management has to approve it along with provider to provider sign off. This is the worst care I have ever received in my lifetime. The processes, communication, and lack of accountability is obtuse. Requested a manager return my call. Just waiting now. 2 days later and still no manager call back or patient advocate return call. Talk about patient neglect and dismissiveness. Negative impact to quality of life and this organization could not care and less. I am a medical director and would never allow this type of negligence to occur in my clinic. Guess a letter to the editor of the local newspaper is warranted. Have went with a local competitor who was way more responsive and have providers and staff that actually care.

I first saw the PA, Stobbe, in 2015. My initial injury was a compression fracture of both c6 and c7…read moreat age 16 in a violent MVA in 1988. This was left untreated, and I was too young to protest. I started having moderate chronic pain after just a few years. This pain turned severe around 2012. After being sent to a chiropractor (psuedoscience) who didn't really help, I finally was referred to a Neurosurgeon. I never spoke to the surgeon to my recollection, just Stobbe, and they were under Banner. He said "90 percent of MRI'S are positive (IGNORING my compression fracture that 90% of the people DON'T have) and sent me to pain management for expensive, largely ineffective injections. I have always done neck exercises and stretching since the accident, and I have tried PT repeatedly. I went through 6 years of nonsense that likely made things worse, as it just let the wear from the mechanical issues from the broken C6 and C7 get worse and worse, and the injections and RFA didn't work at all in the end. I came back in 2021 (age 50 now), the MRI was significantly worse, and was consistent with most of my pain, and I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis as well. In fact, I have a large family history of spine issues and arthritis that was completely ignored. Stobbe (who was now UC health) gave me the exact same spiel he gave me in 2015, as if I hadn't already been through "conservative" treatment the last 6 years. He didn't even look at my paperwork. He instead sent me to get carpal tunnel surgery that had no effect other than increasing pillar pain. I have since gotten more opinions and found my whole lower C-spine has major issues. In November, I had ACDF at c4-c7. This has addressed many of my most severe issues, but I am certain that many of these issues were significantly exacerbated by the long delay in treatment and the lack of physical activity due to years of severe chronic pain. I also have developed at least 2 types of inflammatory arthritis (unsurprising when you look at my family history) which have made already severe pain that much worse when flaring.
