It was initially intended just for local 68 members, but in recent years has become available to the public. The entire school is completely ran and operated by guys who have/had years of experience in the field. All the instructors are awesome, and because of their experience, they're chock full of information; you could ask these guys anything and they'll have an answer for you. The classroom experience is a lot different than most schools, since the teachers work/worked in the field it's like talking to "one of the guys", which to me makes it easier to retain information. So far, I've completed about half the courses and have received my Blue Refrigeration license, next is my high pressure black stream license. It's a real "one of a kind" school.

The scholarship has a cut off 500 in the math score to apply. He started at Mathnasium in early January and the SATs would be in early April. So he had three months to cover about three years of math if you go by the grade level the SATs usually cover. Only going two, sometimes three times a week, my son was able to score 610 in the math section of the SATs. To top it off, he also won the scholarship. I can't say enough about the quality of the tutoring that Naresh and his staff provides. My son will now start to prepare for the ISEE tests at Mathnasium, and I am sure they will guide him to a great score for that exam as well.

She is promoted at otherwise reputable acting centers in the city, so I thought her 'BOOT CAMP' was legitimate. At first, she's great at getting you excited about career advice (via expensive homework/exercises). Then you realize you're running in circles of ridiculous exercises and hot air that gets you nowhere. She didn't even recognize me at a function after I'd worked with her privately and paid her A LOT of money. I felt like nothing more than a debit card to her. This is difficult to do in any school but SHP teaches that "your SHP brothers are actually family. It is obvious that the students have true concern for one another (even if they don't know that brother personally). Alumni seem to feel so much like SHP was their home that they never forget about the brotherhood & continue to introduce themselves if they see anything that makes them feel like the student or adult must have some tie to the school. There are so many clubs & sports available. Students have so many different types of opportunities to find "their tribe". The students truly enter as boys and leave as self confident educated men. The education is second to none with many different areas of study. The discipline must be just right b/c the boys all are well mannered, decent people that learn very quickly how to advocate for themselves. In addition, they are required to learn & participate in volunteer work yearly by assisting their fellow man with no judgement. Their values become incredibly strong. It is truly a wonderful school for boys from various economic & demographic parts of the world. I highly recommend it.

Rick gets you out on the water immediately. You will have fun practicing what you need to know. Honestly, in two 3 hour sessions he taught me to undock, maneuver around the marina & dock my 30 foot boat in high winds. Capt. Rick did not waste any time. He just smiled, he inspected the boat & he had steer the boat out to get on with the business of piloting. We went all over the marina doing all kinds of manuveers. He just stood next to me, smiled, and he calmly told me what to do while waving at the people watching us. We practiced until I could do it all with confidence.
