They also told me that I had to leave a blank check when I came for the actual procedure in case insurance didn't pay. I should have left immediately but I stayed for the initial exam. But after a nights sleep, I decided to cancel the appointment. I felt because I'm 75, I believe they were trying to take advantage of me. I think trying to take advantage of an older person is just sadistic. I wish I knew of a way to report this where some sort of legal action would apply. In research I have found that the dental industry is the least regulated medical profession and dentist who have a private practice are particularly inclined to take advantage of people because no one is looking over their shoulder. I wouldn't recommend this dentist.

Finding a dentist who can fix the problem in a less dramatic and traumatic way is generally one's main objective. Look no further. You have found him. One star: Friendly office staff. Especially the receptionist lady whose name I sadly forget. I got less pleasant interactions with other practices I called and this lady just won me over. Both over the phone and when I finally met her. One star: No unnecessary charges. I was floored when I discovered most of the other endodontists wanted me to make two appointments. One for the consultation and then the actual root canal to follow right after. For real? Even when my dentist clearly showed me the abscess on the x-rays and said I needed a root canal. Dr. Sullivan's office won't put you through that unnecessary waste of time and money. You come in, he takes x-rays and gets to work. One star: Professional AND funny. Dr. Sullivan is great. He has tons of experience and puts you right at ease. And knowing how stressful dental procedures can be, he has a sleeve full of jokes. One star: Pain free. As someone who has been traumatized by dental procedure pain, I was a little nervous about the root canal. I didn't feel a single thing. Barely even felt the needle when the topical anesthetic was administered. One star: He knows what he is doing. I was pretty much pain free as soon as he numbed me. And I have remained pain free. Such an awesome relief. And he was quick too. I was finished in about 1.5 hours. One star: He called! I was in bed that night at 8pm and an unknown number rang. It was the actual doctor. Also, gave an estimate of $220.20 for procedure after they "stated" they checked with insurance. Insurance has NO RECORD of any calls from this dentist office. The estimate ends up being DOUBLE or $432.20 because they didn't factor things in from the insurance company, had the actually contacted them, would have determined. I got an "I'm sorry" this happened, that's how estimates work with dentist and medical field. And WE Don't have time to spend all day talking to insurance companies. REALLY?!? Isn't that exactly your job. It took me 5 minutes to find out YOU didn't make the call? So even though nothing was MY fault. I'm stuck paying DOUBLE what they estimate? And what kind of estimate is DOUBLE in cost anyway. I can actually see being off $10, $20, or even $50, but DOUBLE $212?!? Very poorly run operation which is more concerned with $ than accepting responsibility of being wrong.

Since my…read moredentist is in Florida and my insurance cards were at home, I tried to tough it out, but by Thursday, August 28th, the pain was unbearable. I googled nearby clinics and found Beaver Creek Dental Care. From the moment I called, they were incredibly compassionate. The receptionist was so kind and got me in immediately, even helping me through the paperwork. Since I didn't have my insurance, I was told I'd have to pay out of pocket, but at that point all I wanted was relief. Tevia, the dental assistant, was amazing. For the first time in my dental experience, someone applied numbing gel before even taking the X-ray. She was attentive, sweet, and worked quickly while listening to my concerns. Then I met Dr. Reagan McNerney. She was an absolute blessing. After hearing my situation, she gave me two options: prescribe medication and discount the X-ray so I could wait until I got back to my dentist in Florida, or reattach the cap right away. I chose to have her put the cap back on, and before proceeding, she personally checked in with the front desk to make sure the cost would be reasonable for me. To my surprise, Dr. McNerney went above and beyond--she lowered the cost significantly to help me out, understanding I was just visiting and would continue treatment back home. Within minutes, the procedure was done seamlessly. She even had my prescription ready so I could pick it up right after. Dr. McNerney's kindness and generosity truly restored my faith in humanity. She didn't take advantage of my situation; instead, she cared for me like I was a longtime patient. I left feeling respected, valued, and deeply grateful. He said he left bubbles in the filling that had to be redone. I had never heard of such a thing. He said I'm sorry, I wont charge you. However I got a bill for $676. I called the office 5 times and asked to speak to him, he finally called me and said he would look back at the records and call me back and that he was a "good Christian " and would see what he could do. He never did call me and I got another bill...so I sent three payments of 10 to his office in cash but when I got another bill the payments were not taken off. Today I got a letter from a collection agency and when I told her the story, she said, " call your attorney" this is not good and that they would put a hold on the collection until I pursued legal action . I chose to go with local instead of general anesthesia due to the cost. So I was awake and aware during the whole procedure. It was a difficult extraction but now 12 hours post op I am having less pain than I expected. I would highly recommend Dr. Emery and his staff.
