I live walking distance and can view the alternations and have called the police myself. This bar shows little regard for the ongoing physical and verbal fights that occur near its exit in the alley. Almost every week there is an altercation in the back exit in the alley. On a previous occasion, a woman was assaulted. Despite these incidents appearing to stem from their establishment, the staff neither call the police nor attempt to intervene or help. You would think they would take action to prevent situations that not only endanger people but also reflect poorly on their business. Why is there no security? While I understand that adults are responsible for their own actions, standing by and doing nothing only enables the problem. read more

This place is a lot of fun. Especially on the weekends, you can expect to find some live music, pool, darts, and some amazing beers on tap. If you want to catch a good game during happy hour it's a great spot too. We must have come on a bad night, they only serve beer and wine, no hard liquor (we were aggressively told to go to the place next store if we wanted hard alcohol, odd for a pub). The only people here were old perverts who got upset because we used the single pool table while they were all outside doing god knows what. Strange crowd, and the guy working seemed to hate his life and couldn't care less that we were there (keep in mind the place was completely empty, we were the ONLY people inside). I feel bad that he had to deal with the gross people outside, so I don't blame him. Normally the Scottish/Irish pubs are the best but this one will be a no go from now on, better off going to a hotel bar down the street. This place is dope. Came in today trying to find somewhere cool to have some drinks for my boyfriends birthday. Pizza, thai, and a deli next door you can order and eat while you chill. As a former hipster it is hard to admit this but I had to Shazaam some classic funk from the 70's that I had never heard but was vibing, Bowie, Ramones, MGMT, Sublime, and the Clash, the music was dank. 7 dollar 22 oz fat tire, 15 dollar pitchers, and free darts, what more could you ask for. I hate to say this, my only problem with this bar is the Valley local riff raff that try to hustle you on the pool table or clown your dart game. The girls there are also usually... This is a true dive bar, beer and wine only. During the day it's mostly older Brits, even the bartender Martin a Scot. Recently they've cleaned up the place a lot it, probably because they were selling the bar, but it's still a dive. Some odd reviews here claiming it's a skinhead bar which is ridiculous since it's a very friendly place.I've seen way more black guys in there than skinheads. One reviewer even took offense at being told they needed to go to Caseys [50 yds away] if they wanted a cocktail, weird. Another upset because they had to wait a whole three minutes to get served! UPDATE It's now owned by a bloke from Dublin that's done a great job updating the place. It used to smell of stale beer, but no more. The bathrooms are nice and clean unlike before. Really small bar, which is why it always feels like it's overcrowded. $4-5 beers and you can even get $1 shots of hot sake (or a bottle of 6 shots for $5). They only serve beer and wine here, but you can always walk on over to Casey's a few doors down for some hard liquor. The crowd can be a hit or a miss. Oh, "the yard." You wonderfully terrible beer bar that wasn't cool, even when I was 21, but is the venue of so many nights that I would rather forget. Cheap beer, a strange mix of people and dirty that's been there so long that it looks like a paint job. The Yard is one of those west valley staples. If you, at any point, lived in or near Woodland Hills/Canoga Park, you remember this place. You've probably been here many times. And each time that you arrived, you wondered why you came back. I can answer that for you. The Yard is one of the few dives that really embraces it's epic diveyness (not a work, but appropriate here; if you don't understand that, you're too young to be reading bar reviews). The Yard is made of AIDS. It carries with it the residue of glorious 1-night-stands that began here and were regretted the next morning. I've drank gallons of beer there, puked in that bathroom on at least 2 occasions I remember and even had a patron show a good friend of mine the "Lipton" tattoo on his... junk. Despite all this, I will love this bar forever. Not because its great, but because it The Yard. I no longer puke in dive bar toilets or have 1-night-stands begin at a dive bar, but I can always count on The Yard for a few beers and a lot of laughs at the expense of young people doing exactly what I did so many years ago. read more

I'm a dive bar kind of girl. Scotland Yard is right up my alley! Arriving already drunk off margaritas, Scotland Yard was just what I needed to relax and wrap my lips around a beer. Our second bar hop stop of the night, Scotland Yard is British police themed and the place is cluttered with related paraphernalia. I especially like the London sky line light up wall right behind the bar. Another cool thing I noticed is that the stools are empty kegs with comfy cushions stuck on top! There's pool, darts, and they had a DJ who played Talking Heads, so he was alright by me! They serve only beer, and I think some wine, which I thought was kind of refreshing. Know where to stop to get a beer in a no fuss environment. I got a pint of Sierra Nevada for about $5...yes I've been to cheaper places, but this is a fairer price then many places. I used to come here a lot with friends and just the other day we decided we need another change from our local bars! I love how they have updated to hardwood floors! Thats the first thing I notice! This makes the smell of old carpet disappear! They have a DJ playing 90s Jams and spinning new hip hop songs. This is a great place to relax and drink away your problems for cheap. They carry different beers on draft and/or bottle. They have one pool table and tarts. But, the pool table is always packed. Maybe with all the regulars, that come here often. They also have tart tournaments on Mondays..? I will make another stop soon. Not in my priority list, but will go if I get invited. read more

Um...I have NO IDEA why this place has a four-star average rating. Have you people been inside this place? I'm sorry, but beer kegs covered in just enough stained red fabric so that you aren't literally sitting on the keg - but can feel it digging into your ass - is not my idea of a good time. I went on "punk rock" Tuesdays because a friend of mine is into that music. I felt like I was trapped in the Cobalt Cafe's parent's house. In fact, I'm convinced that after everyone goes through their awkward punk rock phase in high school and attend shows at the Cobalt, they graduate and move directly next door to The Scotland Yard! Everyone was dressed very scene except for me...I was definitely the only female in high heels that weren't Doc Martin-style boots up to my knees. After the bartender told me to "drink up and get the fuck out" I gladly got myself out of there as quickly as possible. I am sure I'll never go back there either. I almost invited a friend and I'm glad I didn't because it was that junky of a dive. This place is in dire need of renovation. Some new carpet and refurbished seating may help their shappy appearance. I've been here on a Thursday once and they had the coolest band playing. Smallest of stage, more like a ramp and the guy was playing a double bass.. wicked, huhh?? Oh good lord, as an Englishman and a life long pub enthusiast this place takes divey to the new level of just plain dirty. If they spruced this place up a bit, even dusted occasionally the atmosphere could shine through, come on whoever owns this make a minimal effort. There is no reason to go here whatsoever unless you are a deluded hipster who thinks you are having some hip, dusty, smelly experience. Kind of place you inspect your glass for dirt. I don't know how this place survives. Not particularly friendly either, it has that typical Brit attitude -- I should know -- that they are doing you a favor by serving you. Everytime I walk into this place, the first thing i notice is..... the SMELL!! It smells SO awful. Some kind of combination of sweat, barf, smoke and piss. However, once you get pass the smell (only can be done with a few beers), you will begin to enjoy this little bar. They only have beer, wine and sake, but I don't mind the selection. They've got one pool table and two dart boards. I love coming here to play darts. One, because its free. Two, because its fun! It is a little scary when you have the regulars hogging the board, but if you come on a weekday there is usually a board that isn't being used. I love darts! The people here are pretty interesting. Definetly ranges from the youngins to grandpa status. Usually the people here are friendly, sometimes too friendly. So girls, beware for creepers. The bartenders are so nice here.
