Roar Beauty Parlor - Creating the perfect custom color

This place is worth every penny. It's not just a haircut, but a total pampering experience. The…read moremoment you walk into the door your greeted warmly and offered something to drink while you wait. The store has a pretty cool vibe that I'd call vintage (new vintage not to be mistaken for old and outdated) It's very warm and inviting. My stylist is Marissa. She always holds an excellent conversation, while always giving me a satisfactory cut. I've ranged from super long ombré to a short bob cut. Regardless of length or color, she gives the time it takes to put fine detail into my hair. To top it off they offer a quick add on service like a peppermint scalp massage (omg! So great) or a hand massage. At the end they'll also rock your new hairdo with a complimentary lip color. They treat you like a queen there. Last thing I want to mention is that it's an Aveda salon so they boast about their natural, eco-friendly products. That's just the cherry on top to make me love them so much!

Choice to respond to a color issue reimbursement could have been any easy fix even if that is not something the salon does normally.

This salon is conveniently located among Blackstone's main strip. It's a fairly small space, but…read moretheyve decorated it thoughtfully and it's very inviting and laid back. I only needed a haircut, and generally am fairly low-key when it comes to my hair services. This space definitely felt nicer than what I *needed,* but it was a great treat to enjoy this beautiful salon for my hour sans kids. Similar to a few other salon models, their pricing menu varies based on the experience/level of the stylist, so you have a little wiggle room when deciding what your preferred price range is. I'll likely return again in the future!

First off, the place is ADORABLE. So many plants, bright colors, fun signs, etc. You can tell the personality of the place because it comes out in their decor. They also offer a lot of retail options, so you can get quality products as well. I saw Vanessa and she was so great. She gave me exactly what I asked for and made some small suggestions to make it even better. I trusted her to tell me what would look best for me. The chair was comfy, they give you free drink options, and the place has great music playing that was loud enough if you wanted to listen but quiet enough that you could talk over it easily. My favorite part of the service was my time at the sink. Usually somewhat uncomfortable, they made this part of the experience so cozy. There's foot stools so your back isn't arched weirdly, the part of the bowl where you rest your head didn't strain my neck, but my favorite part was a heated mask she put on my eyes as my hair mask set it. So calming. Importantly, to me, you can tell they have great values. From the signs in the window about LGBTQIA+ rights to little things around inside like women's reproductive rights and access, you can tell they don't just have these things because they're trendy. Especially in today's environment, I feel this is notable and so so important. This is a safe space.

It had been years since I've been to Stephanie Moss, so I was curious to see how much had changed…read more The interior was a little different from what I remembered, but overall it still felt pretty familiar. I booked with a senior stylist because I really wanted to make sure I got a great cut and style, and for the most part, that's exactly what I got. She did a really good job with the consultation before we got started. She asked what I was looking for, gave me plenty of opportunity to explain the details and specifics, and ultimately did what I asked for with both the cut and the style. I was really happy with how my hair turned out. She was also friendly without being overly chatty, which I appreciated. We talked about a few things and found some things we had in common, but it never felt like forced salon small talk. The shampoo experience was probably the most disappointing part. It was pretty standard and felt a little perfunctory and rushed, almost like a quick wash you'd give yourself in the shower. The head massage itself felt great, but it was only about 15-20 seconds. I definitely would have loved more of that, and at this price point I think a little more time spent on the shampoo and scalp massage would have made the overall experience feel more luxurious. I have pretty long, fairly thick hair, so when it came time for the blowout, my stylist actually recruited another stylist to help. I don't think I've ever had two people simultaneously coming at my head with blow dryers and round brushes before! It was definitely a new experience, but they got the job done and my hair looked great afterward. My only other small criticism was the initial welcome at the front desk. The receptionist was on the phone when I arrived, and I would have been completely fine just waiting until she was finished. Instead, she tried to split her attention between the person on the phone and checking me in, and it actually made me feel a little like I was inconveniencing her by showing up for my appointment. A warmer welcome would have made a better first impression. Overall, though, it was a good experience and, most importantly, I left really happy with my haircut and style. There were a couple of areas where I think the experience could have felt a little more elevated for the price, but the actual hair service was very good and I'd be comfortable coming back.

I ended up paying about 165 dollars before tip, definitely worth it!!!
