I had only ever seen Drybar on social media, so I was excited to go! Drybar is located in Encinitas Village between Athleta and Revive Med Spa with tons of parking. They welcome you in and offer complimentary coffee, water, or champagne/mimosa. Fun! There's also guest wifi. As I was there for a complimentary service, I let my stylist Kristi pick what style she was going to do and she chose the Cosmo-Tai. She did a wash and then styled my hair- it took about 1.5 hours (I have long thick hair) and it turned out beautifully! My hair also smelled amazing. I would definitely consider coming to Drybar for an event- it's $59 for a one time blowout, but if I lived closer/had more events in my life the Membership seems like a good idea- $49 a month for a blowout or $95 a month for two blowouts.

I called 5x leaving messages about the extra charges and sent a message through the website. Zero return call. I had to drive to the location to speak in person. I was a weekly regular and 15 mins late to last appt. Manager rudely reprimanded me telling me she could charge me for the service since I was 15 mins late. She pointed out 10 mins is OK but not 15. I reminded her my last appt they were 1 hour late and often 15-20 mins late regularly and I don't mind or complain. I brought up the 3x chg for last appt. Her response was "Did we charge you 3x bc you were late?" Argumentative from the moment I walked in. I was shocked as was my friend. I said NO! You all were late. She proceeded to argue about the charge and said I should thank "Jesus" she didn't charge me for being 15 mins late. It was like arguing with a low class family member that felt entitled to talk down to me. She then claimed victim status since I was addressing her extreme rudeness. Someone needs to send this lady to customer service training. Alternatively, My stylist was great and felt terrible for me. She told me not to let Carrie's behavior ruin my day and that they needed me at the salon. I'm there very frequently so lots of business to lose. I purchased a package so contacted Del Mar to see if I could use them at their location. Del Mar told me they get complaints about Carrie and that location as well. Owner Caroline should find a nicer option. At one point I considered Carrie friendly but her trashy behavior shows her true colors. I would sort of get it if I didn't pay on time or tip. I tip 20% each time and purchase many on demand each week. I feel bad for anyone that has to work with this mean person.

I see her every 4 weeks for base color and extension maintenance. Tori is incredibly meticulous and takes her time to make sure everything is done perfectly, from the placement and blending to making sure that my extensions look natural, feel comfortable, and work with my very fine hair. She never rushes through an appointment, and you can tell how much pride she takes in her work and how much she genuinely cares about making sure her clients leave happy. My hair always looks full and natural, and I constantly get compliments on it. One of the things I appreciate the most is that she is cares about the health of my natural hair while still giving me the look I want. It is so hard to find someone that you completely trust with your hair, especially when it comes to extensions, and I feel incredibly lucky to have found that in her. The last three times I tried to book, my stylist was unavailable the day of due to internal errors and turnover. Second, I paid specifically for the owner this most recent time, yet most of the work was done by assistants (teenagers and college students). To make matters worse, the salon was unbearably hot- no AC while sitting in foils for hours- I've literally NEVER experienced this at a professional salon. After three hours, my formerly brown hair looked nothing like the reference photo (lighter blonde). They offered to redo it -again with an assistant- but still charged for additional highlights, bringing my total to over $500 (despite being quoted $200-$300 with no notice about the price difference until I was checking out). What made me decide to write this review, however, was an off-putting comment from the owner. After a young girl came in with her father for a quote, the owner laughed about how expensive it would be because she "had dark thick Mexican hair." The assumption, tone, and laughter were unprofessional at best and offensive at worst. I ended up going to Headlines to have my hair corrected and had a fantastic experience there. Based on everything above, I would not recommend this salon. I honestly don't think these stylists know how to style or color dark, thick hair like mine (respectfully) :/

But this last time I had an issue with my extensions and was honestly worried about the health of my hair. I contacted the salon. Dana, the salon owner, immediately stepped in and took care of me. Not only did she redo my extensions beautifully, but she also colored and trimmed my hair! She made sure I was happy with the results, and my hair looks and feels amazing. I would absolutely recommend the Station Salon, the owner, and her team. They handled an uncomfortable situation with professionalism, kindness, and integrity. They did the right thing to make sure I felt heard, cared for, and satisfied. What impressed me most was how she took so much out of her day, with no advanced notice, to make me leave happy and confident.
