Buckeye Bargains is a hidden treasure located on the Ohio State Columbus campus. It's in the…read morebasement of Converse Hall and is only open on Wednesdays from 9-3:30 pm when classes are in session. It is completely volunteer run by The University Women's Club, and all of the proceeds go to fund scholarships for OSU students. The volunteers are really friendly - just ask them if you need help or if you are looking for something in particular, and they'll point you in the right direction. So what will you find? A little bit of everything! Think OSU gear + thrift shop/flea market. Make sure you have time to browse when you head in there, because it's a small space that is well packed. Donations come from individuals and shops (such as the OSU gift shops); some items are used, some new, some from estate sales, and more. There is plenty of OSU gear, plus items with other logos, housewares, art, jewelry, clothing, toys and more. There's a lot of turnover, and every week brings something new. There's even a free box that sits at the front entrance. I've found everything from OSU bird feeders to university themed cookie cutters, OSU logo bags, seasonal holiday decorations, scarlet and gray buckeye rain boots, and lots of jewelry. Being on campus, parking to visit the store can be a bit of a bear, so if you can time it with a visit to campus or the area and walk there, that can be helpful. Otherwise, the nearby parking lot offers pay 'n display parking (cash or credit card), so you can also park that way. However you end up there, be prepared to go treasure hunting and enjoy!

I stumbled upon this gem one Wednesday afternoon and now I can never go an entire Wednesday without stopping in. This place is hidden in the basement of Converse Hall (ROTC building) and is only open on Wednesdays from 9-3:30. It's run by a group of precious elderly ladies and all of the proceeds go to OSU scholarships. They only accept cash. Their stock rotates regularly, and usually if something lasts for more than two weeks or so it is marked down. On some days, they sell overstock merchandise from OSU apparel stores, so you can often score an OSU t-shirt for $5 or so. Most of the merchandise is priced at $5 or under. They have everything from clothes to shoes to jewelry to bobbleheads and flash drives... If you have free time on a Wednesday, be sure to stop by this wondrous haven. But don't take any of the good stuff and make me regret sharing my deepest secret with you.

Don't even wanna know who owns the place. They don't take care of the Homeless community. I am a witness. I was homeless for a year! Selection is WAY TOO MUCH! I would leave half that crap outside so the homeless can just take whatever they want. I would probably go ahead and get rid of the building. There are beautiful train tracks right behind it that need to be seen! Plus I think Canadian Geese or some sort of birds want to live in that parking lot. The value??? I wouldn't even touch ONE item in that store (except I did see an overpriced Bath & Body Works candle I would never spend that much money on a candle. I mean I have before when I was in love. But never again! Ohio is NUTZ! no wonder it's called the Buckeye State!

These folks are really friendly and if you ask for help, they're right there for you. The store is well laid out, bright and clean. I almost always find something here. The selection is great and they are always bringing out new items. Prices are just fine, 25%, 50%, 75% off.....can't beat it. *** If you have mobility problems are are looking for kids or men's items, beware. The store used to be a Montgomery Ward or JC Penney back in the 50's. There are two floors and you have to use the stairs to get up there.

There are some amazing vendors that have quality vintage pieces at very affordable prices. You can tell that they take time and care with what they stock and how they set up their displays. I find that my favorite booths get restocked often with an array of new treasures. I've purchased beautiful original art, handmade ceramic pottery, a gorgeous Persian rug and many more one of a kind pieces. This is my go to place whenever I'm looking for unique home decor or a special gift. The off putting.. the staff is usually so helpful and kind but there is one employee (Kerry) that can be outright nasty to customers. I witnessed her make disparaging remarks about another customer. She did this in earshot of my mother and I and then acted like the other customer had personally offended her or done something wrong when they asked for a discount on a damaged item from her booth. She then proceeded to speak to my mother about why her nasty remark was justified. It was gross and I hope that the owner of the store reads this review and is able to address Kerry's nasty attitude. The other complaint is when you see an item with a thrift store price tag right next to the vendors highly inflated price tag. So tacky! I do highly recommend this store but I also hope they can address these issues.
