Warning signs about a permit required, but you can park here IF you're going to the thrift store. They were painting a new mural on the back on a perfect summer day. Inside, lots of clothes, nicely arranged. Lots of books, a few movies and CDs. Nothing for kids- no clothes or books. Kid K was disappointed; she thought from the decor inside and out that it would have some stuff for her. It's in the Short North and near campus, and those are the target audiences. Friendly staff. A nice selection of clothes. Nice big windows on High. We'll come back when she's a bit older.

They have a selection of men's, women's clothing, furniture, shoes, CDs, artwork and books. This thrift store is extraordinary in what they do! 96% of each dollar goes towards aiding in HIV care and supporting those suffering with it. They offer free on site HIV testing. There were around 10 young men waiting to get tested. I really liked some of the furniture pieces and artwork in this store, unfortunately it was too big to bring back on my flight home with me. My friend purchased around 12 CDs at $2 each. I would love some of them too, but I haven't had anything to play CDs on in so long. Out of the Closet is a thrift store that supports a wonderful cause. Stop by when you're in the area!

If you'd like to sell items, there are very clear guidelines on their website. I have sold items a few times and love that I can get a bit more if I choose to get paid in store credit as opposed to cash. Any items that aren't selected for the shop get donated, which is awesome. If you're in the neighborhood I highly recommend checking out this little shop and the other sustainable shops (Koko and Little Light Collective) next door.

And they have amazing prices compared to other thrift stores. I ended up purchasing 4 things - a dresser, two chairs, and a coat 'tree'. An employee walks with you, marks what you want to buy, then checks you out. They will then help you load big pieces. Shout out to Seth & Wayne for being an amazing help to us on a busy weekend.

While I'm not overly fond of the pricing, I do understand it--because for the perfect, high-quality pair of vintage jeans, I'd absolutely pay the price. This store specializes in vintage finds. they have furniture, glassware, jewelry, clothing, vinyl records, and a lot of other really cool pieces. You could spend a few hours in here, looking at everything they had. Their vintage clothing selection is quite extensive, although we both felt that the pieces were a bit overpriced. It was definitely a fun way to spend a few hours, but again we didn't spend any money because the clothing was so pricey. It's not just a place selling second-hand stuff, you can find some really nice antiques and collectibles in there. The shelves are crowded and items are somewhat grouped by category, but it's easy to browse and the staff are accessible and friendly if you need help finding something in particular. Parking is right out front in a small gravel lot. They also have a pretty active Facebook page where they highlight sales and new items available in the store. I love the history and quality of household items made decades ago, so I'll be back -- check it out if that's your thing too!

I came on a weekday in the afternoon and was surprised to see the parking lot completely full so it took me a minute to find a spot. That said, when I walked through the doors the fun quickly began. The first thing I noticed was how big and organized the place is. Gone are the days of barely being able to sort through clothing because the aisles are packed too tight and there's too many items on the rack. Everything here is easy peasy. From the furniture and shoes to the homegoods and knick knacks everything had its place. While the prices were a little high compared to places like Goodwill, I wasn't mad about it because Volunteers of America has a great cause and the money raised truly goes back into the community. Supporting veteran services and mental health and recovery are just a few examples that I can really get behind. I ended up spending roughly $25 and walked away with a $200 pair of jeans, a nice pair of boots, glass bottles I've been meaning to buy but luckily found them here, as well as some nice glass decor that matches my living room perfectly. I will absolutely be back and can't wait to see what treasures I may find. See you soon!
