This has to be some of the best sauerkraut I have ever had in my life! The curry braut was SO good! The staff were so helpful, polite and patient with our horrible German. Don't forget the beer! Amazing! You must go to Schweine Janes!!

A great casual eaterie. The huge rotisserie of pig legs roasting on a sword is both a great visual and a menu suggestion. If you like pork and have never been here before, you only have on choice. Pig leg with fries or pig leg with mashed potatoes? Seriously, you don't go to Morton's and order a chicken breast sandwich. Schweine means swine. Swine means pig. Order the rotisserie pork and you will be very happy. The skin is insane. The side dishes are....who cares.

A place for pork knuckles. A small place but very busy place. Service was prompt and friendly. We love the "Schweine Haxe" or grilled pork knuckles. It's fresh, soft, tasty, and delicious. Very cramped inside but it's the perfect place to have it. Highly recommended.

In the middle of restaurant square. Pork knuckle is made on the spot, so good! For such a cheap price. I even see other restaurants bought them from here and sell them in their own restaurant. Must try!

This is one of my favorite fast food place in the Altstadt (Old Town) of Dusseldorf. It has been here for ages and so is the interior, nothing has changed. It's still the rustic and simple setting, time definitely stood still here. If the weather allows sit outside and watch the people walking by, can be very interesting. Service is quick, efficient and friendly. The place may look uninviting but the food is awesome. As the name suggests it's all about pork. You'll get a watery mouth just by looking at the rotisserie with all the roasted pork. They offer pork on a bun, whole roasted pork knuckles, Schnitzel, sausages, even Cevapcici. Everything is done very well, even their french fries are very good. My favorites are Schnitzel, pork knuckle to share or if you are really hungry and their Cevapcici. This is the place to go if you like hearty food! Inexpensive, excellent value for money!

Straight up breathtaking pork knuckle. This is the solid authentic German eats you are searching for. Among the best meals I have had in Germany.

This place might not be very hidden in old town but nevertheless is a true gem. We where urging some authentic german food and i rememembered reading about this place on Yelp. What it lacks in ambiance it certainly makes up for in food, quality, value and service. We ordered the pork knuckle (schweinehaxe) and schnitzel with roasted potatoes. We got our beers from the friendly waitress in 2 minutues and the food less then 10 min later. The schnitzel was tender and had a good crispy layer of breading. The roasted potatoes where supertasty. My wife loved the "haxe" with sourkraut and mash and we had a great experience. The food with 2 beers (Jever pils) came to a total of 31€ without tip wich was a bargain. I also changed the french fries for potatoes and added some herb butter to my schnitzel without any added cost. Overall a great meal and we cant recomend this place enough!

This is a really great restaurant if you want to eat some pork! You can watch all the meat being cooked at the front of the restaurant and it's delicious. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Monday night and still had to wait 15 minutes. It's really good value and somewhere that you must visit in Dusseldorf!!

It is a wonderful little restaurant. It was recommended to us, so when we were in Dusseldorf we stopped by and were not disappointed. Food was not only absolutely delicious but also well priced . After super expensive Brussels, it felt like we could finally eat a good size meal for a reasonable price. Our waitress was a very nice lady. She spoke some English and helped us with the menu. I had sausage, mashed potatoes and a sauerkraut ( of course). My husband tried schnitzel for the first time. We enjoyed our meal and paid 14 euros only. In Brussels this amount of money would get us an anorectic breakfast.

It was such a big portion meal...tastes delicious..relatively cheap compare to others...it is roasted pork knuckle but the skin is not crispy or crackling...the meat is sooo tender..

Has an English menu which was very helpful, ordered the pork sandwich. Food was fantastic, the pork crackling was so good! Good service and a cheap meal if you happen to be exploring the Old Town.

I had to wait my table for more than 30 minutes, the place is not fancy, but the taste is worth all the efforts.

It's located in the heart of the Altstadt (Old Town) and its decor reflects its glorious and long past. Over the years, it has become more and more touristic but it's also still a place loved by many locals. They serve a lot of local beers, in particular the bitter, dark Alt which is typical from this area. Their menu offers a lot of dishes from the regional German cuisine including the renowned Rheinischer Sauerbraten (roast beef), Mettfleish (raw pork) and a lot of various wurst (sausages). The service is fast and prices are fair. It can get quite packed so it's always good to book well in advance.

The weather was a bit dreary so everyone was sitting inside for once. Our server spoke perfect English but he was a bit rough around the edges. This was the only restaurant we went to where English was already on the menu. The menu consisted of starters & soups, house specialties, fish and dessert. There also was a seasonal sheet and a few daily specials including a business set menu (€15,50). - Alsterwasser (€3,20 for 0.30L) - light beer with lemonade. This was a mix of pilsner with a splash of lemonade. - Himmel & ähd (€12,50) - blutwurst (fried black pudding), mashed potatoes, fried onions and stewed apples. Not sure why but their fried onions don't come hot nor crispy. The blutwurst was interesting; lightly crisped and the filling was tasty. Mashed potatoes were buttery. - Metzgers leibgericht (€14,50) - three sausages (mettwurst, thüringer art bratwurst and krakauer) with sauerkraut and homemade mashed potatoes. Mettwurst was a thicker, meatier, minced pork sausage. Krakauer (similar to a a Polish kielbasa) was slightly salty but had a good bite. Bratwurst was our favourite of the bunch; easily the tastiest and most flavourful. Sauerkraut was hot and well balanced in acidity. Mashed potatoes were the same (wish they would let you choose other sides to try). An enjoyable last German meal (and for once, not too heavy). 3.5 stars.
