Law Office of Paul R Kenney - Personal Attention at Reasonable Rates

Paul is an absolute gem of a lawyer. This was my first experience hiring and working with a lawyer,…read moreand I can't say enough good things about him and his work. He is extremely fair, honest, and professional which is a lot when compared to some other people in this field. I had reached out to many lawyers about my landlord issue, and I was dismissed. Paul listened to my case and the details I had, and was able to settle the case in my favor. He is VERY communicative, and quick to respond to any emails. I don't know how he does it! If you need a lawyer you can trust, go to Paul! I look forward to working with him again in the future.

UPDATE: this attorney emailed me multiple times to complain about this review, a responsiveness…read morenotably absent when he was being paid to represent me on an urgent matter. I offered to change the review if he could demonstrate that any aspect of it was not factually accurate. He responded only with petty attempts at insults. I am legally disabled and was forced out of my sublet when the primary tenants entered illegally and claimed to be my roommates on July 6. I was referred to this attorney through ARAG legal insurance. On July 9 at 1:41PM this lawyer informed me via email "The only choice you have is to start an emergency action for illegal access" and agreed to be paid by ARAG to file this on my behalf. He informed me that he would not be able to file until early the following week. That was the last time he took a call from me. That evening I tried to retrieve belongings and the primary tenant tried to have me arrested. I called my lawyer frantic. He never acknowledged the call. I did not receive a draft until July 15, It had multiple omissions including failing to include any exhibits. He told me to make suggested edits but did not provide a document in editable format. I finally generated a Word doc with my suggested edits and asked if any were relevant. His only response was to demand payment for the process server and filing fee without instructions on how to submit payment which I did not receive until July 17. He suggested that I simply enter the apartment to retrieve the belongings, ignoring 1. the police instruction not to try to enter without a police escort and 2. that I am disabled and cannot move belongings without assistance.I asked him what I needed to do to get him to file the document in Court - now 11 days after I was forced out - and he withdrew, telling me to file myself ignoring, again , I AM LEGALLY PHYSICALLY DISABLED and sent me his wholly inadequate OSC draft which did not even have the the defendant's name spelled correctly. He had the option to decline the job on July 9. Instead he strung me along, knowing that I did not have access to Rx medication and other disability aids, for over a week before abandoning my case. I am now locked out, without my medication and other belongings, and have no help with Court. Shameful, unethical, and just cruel conduct

I contacted Zimmet Law group to create a family trust, will, and medical proxy. The whole process…read morewas really smooth and quick. After I contacted them via email, I had a quick 10 mins call in which they understood my requirements and sent me a form to fill after that. Once I filled the form, the documents were created in a week and official signing process took another 2-3 day. They provided notary service and witnesses as well. Quick and reliable service. FYI, I was using my Hyatt legal plan so I did not have to pay a single penny for their service.

We had an extremely negative experience at Zimmet Law. We worked with the lawyer Debra Hammerman,…read moreas well as Monique Gravely and Jacqueline Constante. We used Zimmet Law to purchase our home in Brooklyn, NY. Besides being generally hard to get in contact with the lawyers, 12 hours before our closing, the lawyers sent us a final Closing Disclosure with over $100,000 in mistakes that they did not catch. There was a mistake in our taxes that they did not catch. The title company they hired also made significant mistakes, leading to them giving us documents with huge mistakes in them 12 hours before the closing. Our lawyer, Debra Hammerman, did not come to our closing and was not present for most it, so we had to sort out all of these issues on our own. There were even more mistakes she didn't catch, and it led to an extremely stressful closing that lasted well over 8 hours. Her employee Monique was rude to me for asking more clarifying questions during the closing, saying we were "going in circles". I don't understand how someone who has made a $100,000 mistake could possibly feel justified in thinking that victim of that mistake might want more validation on other numbers they have created. Furthermore, the paralegal Jackie was looped into conversations for closing details about a week before the closing. I spent 3 days straight emailing her and calling her to try to get answers to questions about the closing, like how the money would be transferred, and she never responded. I confirmed with the front desk that she was not sick or on vacation, and our lawyer Debra Hammerman was also cc'ed on those emails and neither of them ever responded to our emails or calls. I have no idea why they waited until 9:30 PM to give us the final closing documents, when our closing was at 10 am the next day. It was a nightmare. Finally, Debra Hammerman herself provided a POA since one of our purchasers would be out of town at the closing. Despite us filling out the POA as per her instructions, it turned out she hadn't requested addresses of notarized signature witnesses which led to us desperately trying to contact our witnesses during this extremely chaotic closing to get their addresses. Why didn't she request addresses in the POA itself? Pure incompetence is my bet. Finally, the lawyer, paralegal, and all of the staff from Zimmet Law completely forgot to bring up holding money in escrow from incomplete punch list items. It fell by the wayside as we attempted to hammer out all the other mistakes the law firm has made, and it meant that no money was held in escrow as requested while we awaited final punchlist items to be addressed. This was a totally terrible experience for us and I would never recommend this law firm to anyone.

Others are posting emails with shocking and unprofessional language. I'll do my best to circle back…read morewith you as yes there are PR implications here. When you retain a firm you don't quite know what their response time, bedside demeanor, level of service or what result will be produced. My experience was that there was no commnuications; I often drafted emails which recieved no replies and was kept speaking with myself. I requested time to prepare for settlement talks, to be appraised of the current case and to discuss options prior to trial. These were never answered, in fact the only reply I received was that they didn't have time to review my emails. When I was able to get them to Zoom cameras were kept off. I was cut off, not allowed to speak and then I finally circled back with the Legal Aid office and was told I could simply end my case by handing in my key. I hadn't know that and I'm concerned because prior to starting trial they stated I could received first, last and deposit due to having a disability and rights with the ADA. These options just weren't answered. Emails were ignored. Heather Ticotin is underpaid and disgruntled, expect same day preparation of around five minutes and then a to be threatened if you speak. More concerning I'm told offers were presented by opposing, I learned of thse only after. Despite requesting to prepare for our settlement talks we never met. Meetings aren't given, the firm just doesn't reply to emails. When I sent a polite email to switch attorneys within the firm Joshua Price said the same things others are posting. Abusive language, silly or frankly druken replies and then being ignored. I'll screenshot what I have however you should google and flip through the reviews. Firm is not professional. I'm confident if I followed the free advice I received from legal aid I would of received the roughly $10k in a settlement they had expressed my case was worth. I decided to make sure a firm secured this and it turned into much worse as I had my trust abused. Just use free legal aid unless your confident you have a valid ADA or other valuable claim. If you're told you have that then do retain a firm, only not this one, avoid because they won't investigate these avenues and will not reply to you once the retainer is paid.

I would like to express my strong feelings about Leona Krasner's law services. I filed a relocation…read morecase for my son from New York to Florida in 2022 and it has been a grueling custody battle that has dragged on for two years. This has been unexpected and incredibly challenging. While Leona may not be the type of lawyer who operates like a shark, I did not find her to be aggressive and sharp when it came to getting things done promptly. There were instances where I felt pressured to agree to the proposals of the opposing counsel, and I did not feel adequately defended most of the time. I also want to mention the turnover of assistants that Leona has had. After establishing a professional relationship with them, they would often ask me the same questions repeatedly and request files that had already been sent multiple times. Their record-keeping skills were lacking, and I often found myself doing their job. I have also been asked to create a parenting plan and a description explaining why it is in the best interest of the child to permanently live with me, something that I have not seen implemented in previous relocation cases. Additionally I would also like to mention the constant rescheduling of the pre-trials and court dates, which I found to be highly inconsiderate towards those who had already purchased travel tickets and incurred losses due to the rescheduling. Additionally, the repeated requests for retainers and fees without any clear resolution or progress in the case felt unjust, especially considering my circumstances as a full-time unemployed nursing student fighting for my son. It seemed as though I was being taken advantage of because I was in another state, and my case was treated as just a number. It is disheartening to continue waiting for my son to permanently come back home to me while facing these challenges. Furthermore, I want to highlight the lack of communication and transparency regarding important documents. I often found myself being the last to know about any updates unless I proactively reached out and requested information. This lack of proactive communication left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied with the level of service provided. After a prolonged period of two years, my child is finally returning home permanently. The relocation process, which spanned two years, was a particularly distressing situation. This has caused significant anxiety and stress for both my child and me. I felt that the seriousness of this case was not being adequately acknowledged when it was first filed in a timely manner. I would also like to note the consistent and unpredictable communication regarding the fees associated with the retainer. Leona assured us that the initial cost provided covered multiple cases and alleviated any concerns for the future. However, several months later, the fees were unexpectedly increased for additional expenses.

I'm writing this review because I truly don't want anyone else to go through what I went through…read more Hiring an attorney during a family court crisis is not something people do casually. You're already overwhelmed, scared, and trying to protect your child. You hire counsel because you believe someone is going to fight for you, guide you, and help bring stability to a situation that is already painful. That is not what I experienced with Ms. Krasner and her firm. The opposing party in my case was represented, so I expected strong advocacy and a clear strategy. Ms. Krasner appeared for only one or two court appearances and, in my experience, did nothing meaningful to move my case forward or protect my interests. I was left feeling unheard, unsupported, and completely alone in a process I was paying thousands of dollars for. The billing was shocking. In a matter of months, I was charged more than previous attorneys charged me over the course of years. On top of the legal fees, I was billed for everything--stamps, travel, tolls, and constant add-ons. The amount they charged felt disgusting and exploitative, especially considering how little actual progress or advocacy I received in return. What hurt even more was the lack of professionalism and care in the paperwork. I specifically raised concerns about attorneys reusing templates and charging clients as if documents are being created from scratch. I was assured that wasn't how they operate. Yet I received a contract with someone else's name on it--clearly copied and pasted. I also sent drafts of filings I had already started, and they were returned to me with errors and other people's names still included. When you're dealing with court filings, those "small mistakes" are not small. They can cost you time, money, and credibility in front of a judge. If you're paying thousands of dollars, you should receive accuracy, strategy, urgency, and real advocacy--not recycled paperwork, careless errors, and excessive billing for basic administrative items. This experience left me feeling financially exploited during one of the most vulnerable times of my life. I pray for this attorney and her family, and I genuinely hope she reflects on the harm that these practices cause to people who are already in crisis and just trying to protect their children. Based on my experience, I do not recommend Ms. Krasner or her firm.
