After an hour, I went into their repair bay to see what the delay was. They had my whole front end torn apart. They claimed that the entire wiring for my headlight had to be replaced, they needed to order parts and it would cost $174.00. I took the car to Ernie's, they put it a new headlight for $12 and it still works today. Ernie's is in the auto repair business for the long haul and that means treating you like family each and every time you are there. Needless to say I will never go back to the dealer and they have lost my purchase business as well.

They also provided transportation home, and to pick up my car when it was finished. My one complaint is that they did miss a small oil leak on inspection, but my car had so many larger leaks and issues at the time that may have eclipsed the issue.

The next time, they couldn't find the issue but gave me a $6000 estimate for a new clutch. That seemed way out of line so I went to Ft Mitchell Garage. They ran through all the diagnostics and then multiple people drive the car . Finally on one of the drives, Ron experienced the problem . They ended up simply lubricating the gears. I was recommended to Don's by another mechanic that I'd gone to for years. I've been going to Don's for3 - 4 years now. They've always done a fine job diagnosing the cause of a problem and recommending how much and how long it would take to fix the problem. I took my 09 CTS into Don's about 5 - 6 weeks ago. All wheel drive started making a banging noise. One of their technicians went with me for a test drive and he was able to pinpoint the general area. I was given an estimate and they fixed (?) the problem. About a week later the CTS started making the noise again. My wife was driving the car at the time and as soon as she heard it she was able to turn into another local (Dent, OH.) garage. The shop she pulled into in Dent said it was going to cost over a thousand dollars to fix (which did include fixing the work that Don's Garage did. I called Don's and he (at my suggestion) spoke with the tech in Dent. Don's sent a wrecker out to get my car (at no charge to me). Don's got into diagnosing what the Dent mechanic identified. Don's garage agreed with the other dianosis. There was no arguing or haggling. Don's fixed the car (it wasn't a big deal). Just vibration worked some bolts loose on the 'rear end', coupled with my wife getting off the road so quickly. There was no charge for the work, no charge for the wrecker and they worked with the Dent mechanic and again, no charge to me. Will I go back to Don's Garage in Elsmere again? ABSOLUTELY! We live in Monfort Heights but we'll gladly drive the 22 miles to Don's while passing hundred(s) of shops along the way, many of which I'm sure are capable repair shops. I brought the car back in the next day and told them of the issue. Very argumentative stating they put in conventional oil to save her money and said using synthetic didn't matter. My daughter does not know one oil from the other - but the fact was the did not use the manufacturer's REQUIRED oil. The receipt for the service DOES NOT EVEN SAY WHAT WEIGHT OIL WAS USED other than it being conventional oil. I asked for the money back which they would not do and then, after more back and forth, they grudgingly offered to replace the oil with the correct synthetic (for an additional charge) and that MAYBE they could work me in that day. At that point, and given their attitude and anger, I did not trust them with the vehicle. These guys missed customer service 101: accept your mistakes - fix them - and move on.
